Will was an excellent waiter. We really loved jay special. The wedge is amazing. I would go back just to ask for Will as our waiter. The fried shrimp our friend had was good as well.

When in Port Aransas, this is our to go place.We normally eat here at least twice a week during our stay.Our last visit was not a very good experience.We first ordered the alotta colada, after waiting over 15 minutes, the waitress came back saying the manager never got around to cutting the pineapples, since they were so busy from the night before. For the time we waiting they could have easy cut the pineapple- the excuse was unacceptable especially when you're paying $22 per drink.The meal only went downhill from that point on with the customer service being poor, or I should say lack of service since the waitress was MIA after taking our order. When the food finally arrived, it was horrible. The mahi mahi had pungent fishy taste and smell indicating it wasn't fresh, plus the fries were old and greasy. We could've walked out of the restaurant and nobody would have not even noticed. I literally stood there for over 15 minutes looking for someone to take our money, finally having the busboy finding the waitress outside

This was our first time at Castaways. We sat in the bar area and Eric came and took our drink order. He upsold us on the margarita and we are glad he did!! Very unusual, but very tasty!!My wife had the ultimate shrimp platter and she said it was excellent! I had one of her fried shrimp and the batter was light and well prepared. My tuna was over cooked (my fault- I ordered it medium) but the flavor was great and the sauce was very well done. Eric and Sydney both did an excellent job with the service. Because of them and the food, this may become our go-to restaurant in Port A!!

We loved our crab legs!! I got an order of two with a side salad, my husband ordered the meal with red skins, corn, a dozen shrimp and sausage! So delicious! My best meal yet after eating at a few of the best in town! Seriously!! Service was perfect! Loved our waiter. He was very efficient and helpful, yet had a great personality to top it off. We were too full for the great desserts he mentioned . This meal made a happy ending to our dreary weekend at Port Aransas. Not much sun and the waves were too huge to go deep sea fishing. Not fancy, casual. We went before the crowds so I'm sure that makes a big difference!

Went to Castaways for lunch during our Port A trip. We liked that it was dog friendly so we were able to eat with our pup. They had a meal option for your dog but we didn't order it cause it was a little pricey, around $9 for white rice and boiled chicken. Although it was very hot outside the outside area is covered and has fans which helps with the Texas heat. For appetizer we ordered the crab cakes, which were delicious. Probably my favorite item that we ordered. For entrees, I ordered the chicken fried steak, my mom ordered the gumbo and my Fiance ordered the shrimp platter. The chicken fried steak was alright, I've had better. I feel like it lacked a bit of flavor. My mom didn't have any complaints about the gumbo, she said it was pretty good. My Fiance enjoyed the shrimp platter. His favorite was the grilled shrimp, then the coconut shrimp and last was the seasoned shrimp. The seasoned shrimp was overly seasoned. It was way too salty you could barely eat it. He ended up taking the crust off cause it was too much. The service was nice, our server was super attentive, very friendly and made sure to keep us and our dog hydrated with the heat. Overall it was a nice time. I will say though, Im mad at myself for forgetting to take a picture of the menu because the pictures on Yelp are a little outdated. There were a couple of options on the menu pictures here that the menu at the restaurant did not include.

The first thing to know is that It's not easy to get in here in the evening on weekends. We waited almost 30 mins outside and then got a seat at the bar and ended up eating there because we were settled by the time out table was ready.The bartender was nice and busy but served us well once we got the attention. The food was nice and so was the beer. The bar area is nice to sit and the tables inside are nice too.The food took a while coming out and I hoped for a larger portion looking at the prices but it tasted nice.

Service was amazing! And the mozzarella sticks are to die for!! our server Amber killed it!

Best seafood place in Port Aransas. Service and food was top notch. Very family oriented.

I have to be honest, the food was delicious except the ceviche app; lacked flavor and tasted off (old). Calamari app was solid and , redfish, fried fish entree and black drum were delicious. I also ordered a margarita that was on their cocktail menu. I think it was called the Wilson's margarita or something, and it was awful. It looked like dishwater and lacked flavor. I have years of experience bartending so yes I'm allowed to call this drink out! I will say, however, the pineapple margarita was really good. At the end of the day we came to this restaurant because a couple others had tremendous waits, obviously due to tourism in the midst of summer. I will say if they could work on their service and getting more staff or having more attentive waiters that this restaurant would easily be 4 to 5 stars. Not one manager working the floor, probably stuck in the kitchen due to staffing issues from the looks of it. Again, food is really good, but it's probably best to get it to go.My waitress forgot at least four or five things during our dining experience bless her heart.

Personally the old castaways was better yes had a lot of fried food and a great salad bar but I'm old school and been around Port Aransas a long timeService was great food was very overpriced and overall just average bloody Mary was terrible had to water it down with water to get it down lol.
