Cobas San Lucas is a big winner for me because it's the first time I've been served complimentary queso with my salsa and chips. And because their food is delicious! It's a great stop for lunch, even if you live a couple hours away and are just driving through town.

I been coming to this place for years and love it. The staff is very friendly and hard working. The food is great and tons of options to fit what your craving. They have a very relaxing bar area where I like to sit.

This is one of several Mexican food restaurants in Hallettsville. It's in a central location, easy to locate which was why and how we found it. It's a well designed facility, using bright colors, stucco, and tile to creat a south of the border mood. The restaurant was about 60% occupied but we were promptly greeted and taken to a table. Wait staff is friendly and helpful, quick to point out specialties of the house and point out favorites. Despite the fact we were there on a busy Saturday night we never felt rushed. Definitely a good place to make a repeat visit.

I had the Spinach Chicken. It was amazing. The poblano sauce made the dish outstanding.

Not a bad place for slightly above average TexMex. The Chalupas Compuestas were filled with plenty of well-seasoned, juicy chicken (in my case; you can choose beef instead) and the Golden Tacos were as well. Both dishes were crispy as advertised without being greasy. The service from Ismael was very attentive. Worth stopping by if you're hungry, especially because the chips and salsa are great!

Our first true Tex-Mex food and we could not finish it. Enchilada was covered in parmesan cheese (?) and no enchilada sauce? The burrito was covered in chile con queso sauce that was sweet and it just didn't taste right. I realized we have been spoiled by the real Mexican food in California and Tex-Mex is not for us. I am sure they have other wonder items on the menu but we left a bit disappointed with what we ordered. Thumbs up for friendly and fast service in a small town.

Stopped in while out at the ranch and have to say that the food and service was phenomenal. I am in Hallettsville all the time and never knew this place existed, I wished I would of known sooner. The chips were crispy and the salsa was perfect, it's an eat till you can't eat anymore situation. The food was great all the way around. On to the food we shall go.Texas Burrito - 7/10Large four tortilla grilled to perfection stuffed with ground beef or chicken, refried beans, and cheddar cheese, topped with chile con queso. Sour cream and pico on the side. $14.99The burrito is your normal fair, had it with the chicken which was decent. The queso was really good as well as the rice. Texas Burger - 7/10Two fresh ground chuck patties, with melted american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and bacon. Served with fries. $12.99The burger was better than most and had a great flavor and didn't last long. Spinach Chicken - 8/10Grilled chicken breast with sautéed spinach, mushrooms, onions, and melted Monterey Jack cheese, topped with poblano cream sauce. Served with rice, charro beans, guacamole and pico $17.99This dish was excellent, hands down one of the best dishes I have had. Sauce was awesome, had a ton of flavor and the chicken was nice and tender. The charro beans were very flavorful as well. Definitely give them a try if you are in the area. Your tastebuds will thank you.

First Visit to the restaurant. Heard a lot of good things about it since most of my party has eaten there already. Service was great. And the kitchen staff was outstanding. Food was prepared quickly and everything tasted fresh. My to go box was high and got a lot of food for the price I paid. Will be going back. Very busy restaurant . Decorations were great but it is an older resultant.

MopWe just paid a bill of $60.00 on poor made mexican food, we ordered the Plato Loco which comes with a beef fajita taco, one beef and one cheese enchiladas with beans and rice plus avocado and lil lettuce and tomatoes, well rice and beans very good, beef had no seasoning nor flavor, almost like from the frozen isle, beef and cheese enchiladas needed Chile flavor and salt, then we had Chile poblano relleno with beef. Once again beans and rice is good, the Chile poblano was made not what the menu explained, it is usually broiled on fire, then cleaned and refilled with beef and dipped in egg puree then golden fried. It's an amazing cuisine, I got the chile boiled, filled with beef and covered with red sauce and some cheese, can't determine which cheese. So i sent it back to get it corrected, the waiter took it back, When returned, the Chile was wrapped in an egg omlete, then covered with salsa and cheese. I asked him in Spanish, do you remember what a Chile relleno is, he said yes I do, i asked , is this what it is from the menu, he stated, no mam, I believe we no longer make them that way, this is the new way. It felt like they just degraded REAL MEXICAN FOOD down to a zero. This Chile does take a while to make but worth the wait, anyways we ordered drinks, and we noticed they were so strong that we couldn't enjoy the drinks, we asked for a Bahama momma and a yellow rose, sadly we couldn't enjoy them. We did enjoy the seafood queso,it's pretty good. So if you like Mexican food with no flare, this is the place to go to. It was such a disappointing experience. Definetly won't go back.

Went there with family from out of town wanting to give them a good Mexican meal experience. The best thing was the dressed Dos Equis beer. Sad decor and unimpressive meal
