Mouthwatering Shaved Ice in Corpus Christi

I was pleasantly surprised to find a great burger place in the 'Lief. AJ's isn't just a great burger place, but it's also a refresqueria and Mexican food joint, all rolled into one. Now, normally I'm a little hesitant with places that try to do too much, since I really do believe most places can only do one thing/style right. I'm glad to report that AJ's proved me wrong today. Between my party and I we ordered burgers, a burrito, 2 aguas frescas, and a slush. We are all thrilled with what we ordered. Now, I have high standards for my burgers and this places did not disappoint. I ordered the Mega Burger, the first thing in their menu, therefore the signature burger, right? 3 beef patties, cheese, lettuce and tomato with some sauce. I was very satisfied with everything about my burger. The flavor was right, the meat wasn't over cooked and the patties were juicy. Add some fries that were cooked just right and my ice cold agua de sandia, and I was left very full and very happy. The lady who took our order was very sweet, so that added to the experience. One drawback is the neighborhood, but there's not much you can do about that.

It's a small storefront offering different Italian ice flavors or specialized combinations already on the menu. It's nothing fancy, but you can take your order to go or to a little sitting area outside. The service was friendly. I ordered the coconut sundae and my partner ordered the Oreo shake. It was refreshing on a very hot summer day. My sundae was a little sweet for me, so I'm glad I only ordered a small. There are three sizes to choose from. I also wished they offered more ice cream flavors, other than vanilla, to mix with the Italian ice.

I always order the large lime shaved ice with chamoy. They add cute sour candies, which in my opinion, brings it all together. The snacks they serve are PERRRRFECT for movie night. (Nachos, frito pie, fried Oreos, etc. ) The best part wait....for.....it....the best is....they have a drive thru, what more can you ask for?!!

Lots of local flavor in the form of junk food...can't beat the mountains of fresh fruit on top of their raspas.

Family of 6 all gave 5 starts! Perfect snacks for a hot summer day! Only suggestion is getting tables & chairs to enjoy while there. Delicious nonetheless!!!
