"i love fuegos - it was my go-to spot in college station when i was in college. i always get the el presidente or southern comfort tacos. the el presidente is packed with chargrilled chicken, smoked bacon, fried avocado, pico de gallo, jack cheese, and chipotle ranch - seriously, it's life-changing. the southern comfort is hand-breaded fried chicken with chipotle cream corn, crispy potatoes, grilled onions, and fresh country pepper gravy - so flavorful. the portions are huge, so i always wish i could order and eat both! you order at the counter, and they bring the food out fast - super easy. it's been too long since i've had it, and i'm so happy they have one in san marcos - the perfect place to eat after shopping at the outlet malls!"
"OMG I Love their chips!!Fun fact I found out, the owner and family went directly to the tortilla chips manufacturer out in San Marcos's I think. Where they tested multiple kinds of chips until they all agreed on the chips they have now. Then they bought the exclusive rights to that chip recipe. So Garcias is the only place you can find that chip! That's awesome!Food was good always. Service was okay.We sat in the bar area and ate, a lot going on so some things were missed. No worries, still had a great time and had had some great food."

"Again, another place that's been here for decades so that I can drive by! Never looking for Mexican food when in Port Aransas prior,I was open to it today.4 star average with hundreds of reviews,I deemed it safe to test the waters. Always welcome is the seat yourself which is reiterated with any San Juan Employee walking by. Great start. As soon as we sat down the friendly waitress showed up and gave us the menu composed of enough selections for you to pick your top three, changing your mind over and over until the waitress returns and you unexpectedly spit out your third choice.Come on,you know you do that. All in all we enjoyed the food. I'm glad I was in the mood and gave it a try. Next trip I'll give the Mexican breakfast a spin. I have a feeling they sling some mean huevos ranchero.Atmosphere...expected kitchService.... excellent Prices...in lineFood...goodGo!"
"If you are in Port Aransas in need of some Mexican food, look no further than La Playa!! This place has it all, Mexican food, Tex Mex, and Mexican-Seafood! They will have your traditional Mexican food, but a lot of the menu is a mixture of these foods with the local seafood! My all time favorite plate is the three seafood enchiladas, with shrimp, crab, and crawfish!! By far the tastiest item on the menu!! Their table-side guacamole is a MUST, it's so fresh and tasty! - the food is a 10/10, which is why I am rating this 5 stars, but the other aspects of this establishment you must look past in order to keep that 5 star rating. - the wait; there are NO reservations, so you must arrive at the restaurant (only one person in your party) between 3:45-4:00, In order to get your name on the "list", because when they open at doors at around 4:55 your entire party must be present when they call out the names to be seated. This time is extremely early to be ready for dinner, so you kind of have to revolve your whole day around getting ready for dinner so early. But, I'm okay with this earliness because the food is so good!! - The service; usually the service would be a 10/10 for me, because in previous times we've eaten here we had the delight of being seated and served by Susan, the best waitress I have ever had the pleasure of being served by!! She is the sweetest, kindest, most attentive person I have ever been hosted by, and she calls everyone things like "darlin", "young lady", and "sugar"! She's amazing at recommending items on the menu and constantly refills your chips and salsa!! But this past time I went, we were served by Adam. Don't get me wrong, he was an okay server, but he just wasnt as good as Susan. He talked in a very monotone voice, as he listed the daily specials he made nothing sound appealing because all of his words kind of merged into one long drowsy sentence. Every time chips or waters were refilled he would never grab the bowl or glass and fill it up away from the table, but rather he would happen to reach over my head to fill waters across the table and refill the chips. Pretty annoying! And I'm not sure if it was him or the kitchen, but it took about an hour for our main plates to arrive, which didn't make sense because all of the tables seated next to us at the same time we're packing up to-go boxes and leaving! Your experience at La Playa will definitely be made-or-broken depending on who you are served by! - one last thing is the payment: CASH ONLY! we did not know this our first time, but thankfully they have an ATM inside the restaurant! Just something to think about prior to arriving! - The bar is great! They have probably the most extensive selection of tequila (over 75 different bottles) in probably a 300 mile radius! They have probably 6 bottles of Clase Azul, so take advantage of that!! Also, parking is super tight, you will have a better chance of getting a spot at the baseball field 100 ft down the street than at the restaurant, so just find what you can! - All in All, this place is very good, so don't let the payments or severs alter your amazing Mexican Seafood dining experience!!"
"Best menudo in New Braunfels. I am sorry I love good menudo and have never tried anything else. Service is always very good. Other in my party have tried the Mexican plates and enjoy them as well."
"Perfect place to fill your belly after a long day of water activities in the Texas heat! The margaritas are PEREFECT. Everything you're looking for in a frozen margarita. Or if you choose, get a huge mug of draft beer to wash down your chips. Now I'm not one to get food that isn't the type of cuisine of the restaurant, however, my husband tested the chicken fried steak topped with Queso and pico, and both of us agree, it's the best chicken fried steak we've ever had. And that's saying a lot coming from two home-grown Texans. The batter is so perfectly light and crispy, steak tender, and the jalepenos on top add the perfect kick. My quesadillas and enchilada were perfectly satisfying, and overall, we left with me complaining I ate too much. When in New Braunfels, eat at Adobe Cafe."
"Wow, we loved Nana's Taqueria! By far my favorite food since I arrived in Donna, Texas. El Pastor Tacos were tender and so flavorful. The salsa was my favorite I have found since I got here as well. Staff was so friendly and attentive! The decor and ambiance was so lovely as well! I will be back again next time I visit my mom!"
"Parking in the back of restaurant. Got seated right away, order Ed specials of menudo and barbacoa taco and soda. . Waiter was very nice and attentive."
"I just happened to stumble upon this restaurant since it was a few miles away from my client site. The restaurant isn't anything fancy from the outside, nor from the inside, but at least the interior is clean and somewhat modern. It is fairly colorful with lots of woods. The pictures, or murals, on the wall are all square and consist of 9 panels each. In summary, since this restaurant is so different from the mostly tex-mex restaurants in town, and the food is really good, service is family-like, it's hard not to give them 5 stars. There is a nice size menu, but everything sounds so good. It will remind you of thai or Chinese restaurants since there are pepper indications on many of the menu items. It was a tough choice, but I narrowed my decision down to 3 pork dishes, the pork in pepper sauce, cochinita pibil, and the pork shank. Since I like spicy food, the waitress actually recommended the pork in pepper sauce over their specialty item, the pork shank. I also added avocado slices for 4.75 more. You start with chips and salsa, but neither the chips nor the salsa are like most Tex-mex restaurants. The main pepper used in the salsa is guajillo, similar to the taste of salsas you may find in Honduras, or other central american countries. Tomatillo peppers are also added to the salsa. The chips are thick and crunchy with lots of texture. The pork in pepper sauce comes out on a plate in chunks swimming in the sauce. I didn't feel it was very spicy even though the menu says it's 4 chili peppers. There is also rice and beans on the plate, which are like a central Mexican style of beans. The dish comes with 3 corn tortillas. They do not serve flour tortillas here. The entire menu is supposedly gluten-free, except for the Fideo soup.I was going up to the hostess stand/cash register to pay and saw the sign for homemade ice cream. They have Limon and coconut. I chose coco. It comes out in a sundae glass. This is obviously homemade since there are pieces of toasted coconut throughout. I would say it's a little on the sweet side due to all the sweetened coconut flakes. The color of theirs is also a tan, similar to butter pecan for conparison. My biggest complaint is probably the prices, which are not going to cater to everyone... especially those used to paying $7 or so for a Mexican dish at a cheap Mexican restaurant. They are also very proud of their avocados and guacamole too. For a side of avocado slices, it's $4.75. I looked at older menus and it was over $5 on those, so the price has come down, but I feel it's still more than most places charge for adding a few avocado slices to your entree."
"I picked up a few taco orders for my sisters coming in from Austin. This place was slightly hard to find. It is located next to a tire/auto shop off Nacogdoches. The food is cooked out of a food truck while they sell aqua frescos and other snacks out of a covered patio area. For around $20 we got an order of the Asada, Al Pastor and Chicken (4 tacos per order) which was a good price. The best of the 3 types was the Asada tacos. The chicken was on the drier side and the Al pastor had a weird texture/chew to it. Their hot sauces however were good but beware very hot! This is an outdoor dining area so very laid back. There is covered and uncovered bench seating. They do open very late in the wee hours of the morning...so perfect after coming from a bar to sober up on some tacos/food."
"Update to add:The address is incorrect. This restaurant is located on corner of Babcock & Prue Rd. NOT Fredericksburg. It's right next to gas station."
"This was my first visit here, and I swear it will not be my last. I ordered to-go, 2 B&Cheese, and 2 Pappas Rancheras, and it was superb. I seriously need to incorporate Pappas Rancheras into my breakfast mix more often. I bet the rest of their menu is just as good, if no more. The staff were very welcoming and polite. I swear it's like I walked into a place I've been frequenting for years, and they all knew me. They hooked and landed me like a trophy catch. The place is very small so be prepared to order to-go. If you don't you might be waiting for a table. Most of the tables are for a party of 4 at max. Either way, I'm coming back."

This was pretty good, but not as good as I've had in the past. I decided to the fish taco and guacamole. The guacamole was outstanding (as was expected), but with respect to the fish taco, the fish itself wasn't super-flavorful and so the tartar sauce was a necessity. I got the corn tortilla, which they made fresh--excellent--but which was a bit crumbly and didn't really maintain structural integrity. All told, delicious, but not as good as I've sometimes had. Still recommend.

Garcia's has always been a favorite, but the recent updates to their "to-go" area and bar took the experience to a whole new level. The revamped space features an Instagram-worthy greenery wall adorned with a glowing "Did someone say Garcia Rita?" sign that is both fun and stylish. The lighting is bright, yet inviting, and the upbeat Spanish music creates a vibrant, energetic atmosphere.I love that the restaurant still feels like the Garcia's we all know and love, but the modern touch just makes it bit more special. Even the glasses got an upgrade!!! Tonight, Ingrid helped me pick my meal from the three options I had in mind. She went with the street tacos, and they did not disappoint--absolutely delicious! Can't believe I'd never tried them! Of course, I had to pair them with the classic charro beans, which remain a tried-and-true favorite for me (gotta add a bit of pico de gallo to set them off just right!). If you haven't visited Garcia's lately, you're in for a treat--this is the update we didn't know we needed!

We came here and it was packed. There's some seats available. We got there though when we were seated immediately the waiter was very nice and checked on us time to time to make sure everything was OK. The ambience felt like a Mexican restaurant vibe, even though we were at the beach. we got seated and I got fajitas with tortillas and chips and queso, and it was so good. The tortilla was pretty hard though, but I enjoyed it and it was a very good lunch.

We stopped in on our way home for a quick bite. It was packed on a Sunday morning and after my first bite it was easy to see why. The flavor on our food was amazing, the portions were generous, and the two ladies waiting tables were friendly and helpful. Make sure to try the homemade salsa, it was excellent!

We were in NBTX from Dallas and looking for some good TexMex. Adobe Cafe did not disappoint! From the skinny margarita (so fresh!) to the tender beef fajitas to the in-house made cheesecake... we loved it all!! The servers and staff were very kind and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Excellent service here!!!The staff here goes above and beyond and I am left impressed every time I go here either for take out or dine in. The service makes all the difference especially in San Antonio with so many Tex mex options. The place is currently decorated for Christmas and throughout the year they have cute Mexican decor. It's a cozy/homey vibe here and they have all the classics of a tex mex menu and some funky options like the capirotada which went great with a cup of coffee.

"Haven't spent a lot of time in Texas, but when we do the family always wants to grab breakfast tacos somewhere. It's a wandering pilgrimage, like eating a brisket sandwich while perusing the jerky wall at a Buc-ee's gas station. The eats at Loli's cafe were the best breakfast tacos we've found. They have a two lane drive thru and a walk up window. Parking is a bit limited. The line was long when we got there, but it moved along quickly. The tacos range in price from three to five bucks and were a generous size packed with ingredients. The Combo Ranchero includes egg, bacon, beans, cheese, potatoes, and a ranchero sauce. So good. I'm not sure what they do to the bacon, maybe deep fry it? But the chunks of bacon are a crispy crunch that then melts away. The tacos aren't over stuffed with potatoes. Loli's may very well become our go to whenever we are in town visiting the fam. No need to keep checking out new places when the breakfast taco urge hits."
"Always, always busy. Super friendly staff. Queso is fantastic. Everything that I have eaten here is delicious. Tortillas are legit good. Give me that trash can taco!"
"Love this new location! I've been going to the OG for years & they are my favorite Mexican restaurant in the whole world! The food is soo delish like your family recipe always consistent, you get free chips & salsa that is to die for. Sandra was my server she was super kind & attentive to detail as I'm a bit of a picky eater I like to exclude some typical toppings. Everything was perfect & came out fast as well, lovely location closer to us now very clean & organized layout with beautiful paintings to look at while you converse with your guest."
"We had been wanting to try puffy tacos since arriving in San Antonio. We searched through dozens of restaurants and lo and behold, this place was right around the corner from our hotel. (We almost drove 25 min to one across the city)The girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful. A fellow customer overheard me tell her this was our first time getting puffy tacos and she told me that this was her FAVORITE place for puffy tacos. She has been coming for YEARS. We ordered 2 puffy taco plates, one with the tortilla soup and then a few puffed tacos on the side. We all agreed that the puffy tacos were AMAZING. The soup was just ok. I offered for chicken to be in it but I didn't see any. I added some of the salsa to it to make it more flavorful. As for the free chips and salsa... wow. The salsa is SPICY. I like spice and it was hot. The interior and the restrooms were the nicest. Felt more "dive" or "hole in the wall-ish." We're not fancy though. We'll definitely return when we're in town next!"
"Strong, creative cocktails, interesting entrees, good service and a fun, social place, inside or outside. I can't actually remember what my drinks were called! But one was a Serrano pepper infused margarita and the other more of a mezcal margarita. The tuna ceviche was top notch, and the kebab shrimp were very rich and filling. Which didn't stop me from ordering some kind of taco dessert, also yummy! Fun place!"
"My previous review from a few years ago still stands. Staff is still friendly, service is still timely, and the food is still flavorful!"
"This place was cool to try. I love when the staff is patient with new customers. The employee that helped us took his time with explaining the menu and recommended we try the bowls. We went with his recommendation and we loved the food. I deducted a star because when I used their restroom the soap smelled like dish soap. And maybe that's not a big deal to anyone else, but it is to me. Casual vibe in the restaurant."
"Came here with a colleague because I wanted authentic Mexican food--he's married to a Mexican American, and he said it was great. My only sadness is I chose it because the website said it had chile rellenos, and they didn't. . .It's a hole-in-the wall with lots of people showing up at lunch, so that's a good sign. Generous portions and a daily special--ours was cheese enchilada, so we got one of those and a chicken in mole enchilada. The service was super friendly too,"
"I was in Brownsville for 3 days & nights for business meetings and an event. I Had the best Mexican food ever, amazing tacos with delectable flavors. At vermillion , the food was delicious, fresh and served quickly with a smile. A bit noisy and crammed, the place is a great lunch spot where locals come to get great food."
"The salsas and sauces are original and delicious! Huge portion (enough for two more meals.) Nice environment with friendly servers."
"Vida Mia Mexican Cuisine has the most authentic Mexican breakfast in the entire city hands down! I've been coming to Vida Mia for years, but unfortunately hadn't visit since the pandemic. My mom was in town and was craving some chilaquiles, so I knew this was the perfect excuse to drive to Stone Oak and visit Vida Mia. I was so happy to see that despite the years, the place still looks the same and have kept that warm mexican vibe. For our visit I chose the Vida Mia chilaquiles with chicken, and my mom ordered the Diego and Frida with chicken. Both of our orders came out really quick and the portions were very generous. The chilaquiles taste exactly like the ones we used to have back home in Mexico. We also noticed they had a Yelp check-in offer of a free empanada with your order, which was a nice surprise. Can't wait to come back and try something new from their menu!"
"A staple of San Antonio for nearly a half century, Pico De Gallo is a great spot to entertain family and friends. I went there yesterday to celebrate my birthday and Pico De Gallo didn't disappoint. Our waitress was fantastic. Our food was great and there were no complaints all around."
"There's quirky charm to this place. Something about the ripped bench seating, run-down arcade machines, and dark unattended salsa station gives it a unique vibe. Despite the somewhat warm room temperature on a summer night, this place seems like a fun hang out place for the locals, especially with a bar that serves frozen margaritas. We just came here to try the food and hang out with some new friends.Food is ordered up front and then brought out to you. Drinks, salsa, and condiments are all self serve. I ordered the "Huge" seafood burrito for a moderate price of about $15 (July 2023). The burrito was a decent size, but was mostly filled with rice with 2 (maybe 3) pieces of shrimp and some fish. It was good, but I'll try something else if I ever come back. The complimentary chips were a bit stale, but it's complimentary. The service was disappointing, even after tipping a good amount. When asking for a to-go container, the person behind the counter was already in a sour mood. She unwillingly handed us one container. When we asked for a second, it came with an unpleasant attitude. I preferred if they had the to-go containers as self-serve to avoid the interaction. The salsa station offers jalapeños, red salsa, and pickled carrots. Love it. With that said, I question if any excess drippings fell back into the serving bowl from anyone's fingers because accidents happen when filling small plastic cups with large ladles. Is it still worth it? Worth it!Overall, I wouldn't choose this as my first choice of Tex-mex, especially because there are so many other options just miles down (Gringos, Lupe, El Tiempo [though expensive], and those smaller mom and pop shops). I truly wish I could love this place because it a local thing, but I'm not a fan of the service, atmosphere, or food. Maybe next visit would be better."
"A lovely setting! I had the enfrijolados, and as someone who's half Costa Rican, I eat vegetarian beans, and these were flavorful. They also have beans with pork if you prefer (which I unfortunately tasted on my first trip despite specifically asking for vegetarian beans--make sure to repeat yourself if you have dietary preferences). Their rice also contains chicken stock, so keep that in mind too if you're vegetarian. I decided to give this restaurant a second chance and I'm glad I did because the staff is genuinely kind. However, I had to lower the number of stars for service because serving someone meat after they very specifically request vegetarian food is bad service. While my first meal which I didn't eat completely once I found the pork bacon - was comped, I don't want a free meal--I want my food prepared correctly, and I want the restaurant to pay attention to all requests, whether for allergies or other dietary needs. You know why? Getting a meal right isn't just a courtesy--it's essential, especially if someone has an allergy. If honoring requests is too much, restaurants should be upfront instead of serving food incorrectly. Todo bien. We can eat elsewhere. I gave them a 2nd chance and my meal was prepared vegetarian - that was nice - thank you! I must tell you they serve an interesting tres leches cake - the first I've ever had with NO leche! It's more of a DRY tres leches cake with no condensed milk sauce, just whipped cream served alongside it. It's paired with warm pineapple and strawberries. I enjoyed it dry, and it's certainly a lighter option with fewer calories. See my picture for reference. The staff is nice both over the phone and in person. If you believe in supporting local as I do - YOLA is an option."
"Friendly service and generous portions. I tried something new today and had the carne guisada. It was OK but had a strange smell to it. I doused it in hot sauce and it was ok but I couldn't get past the smell. I ended up eating half of my mom's carne asada since the plate is so plentiful. That was delicious as usual. I'll stick with my carne asada next time. The guisada wasn't bad tasting. It was decent but I've had better. It's just the smell... can't explain it. For 7.99 I won't complain about it. It's a steal for the portion size."
"If you find yourself on the south side of San Antonio and you're looking for a great place to have some good breakfast tacos with a very authentic atmosphere I would highly recommend Taqueria Mexico. The service is fast, efficient and they are not shy of giving you all the things you're asking for customize your meals not to mention you get the original authentic taste of the way. The food is supposed to taste. I have to say this is definitely a place making the drive definitely worth it not to mention definitely place so you'll find yourself just practically licking the plate and how delicious the food is. The food is so good here and I find myself always taking food to go even after eating."
"We love the fajitas here, especially the lunch special which is a better value. Lunch doesn't come with guac or cheese though. I really like that their fajitas come with zucchini and yellow squash instead of your typical bell peppers. It's a good different. They also have some delicious chunky potato salad that they always give with their fajitas. Today we got the sweetheart special with appetizer, fajitas for 2 including shrimp, beef, and chicken, and cheesecake sopapillas for $50. We figured since we were going to order fajitas anyways, we might as well do this! I expected the portion size of fajitas to be a bit larger though and we had to ask for more tortillas. The sopapillas were light (very thin dough) with some cheesecake filling. It was a good combo but probably wouldn't order it again. The corn appetizer was spot on and the empanada was small but crispy and probably could have used a bit more filling, but still tasty. Overall, we left with our fajita craving satisfied!"
"AMAZING TACOS! Such a cute little drive through spot for tacos! We ate in the small dining area inside! Service was super quick! Will definitely be coming back!"
"My husband & I ordered to go & the Piccadillo puffy tacos plate weighed about 7 lbs. they were pretty tasty.. the rice was not to my liking but the plate overall was good, we also ordered Lengua guisada & I must say I've never had anything like it, it was so tender & the flavor was on point, a little overpriced but the location says it all. Next time we'll dine in."
"Everything you want in classic Tex-Mex:- big menu with photos of everything- big, sloppy portions of everything- cheap as hell prices- friendly service- food comes out FAST- pay at the frontBonus:Is also a Mexican bakery! My only qualm is that I didn't find anything very spicy, but that's pretty much all Tex-Mex-style Mex places in my experience."
"Fast service. Clean restaurant. They have the best asada tacos in town. Definitely pass by for some food."
"Having eaten at the location in Laredo a few times, I was eager to eat at this spot during May 2024. This establishment is located inside the Las Palmas shopping mall. We sat at the bar and had some excellent service. We started with their chips, salsas, and dip. The standard setup is some smoky red salsa along with a bean dip - the beans have somewhat of a chorizo flavor to them and are absolutely delicious. I recommend asking for their avocado salsa to have, as well. That magic green sauce, though. I had my usual order of Enchiladas Callejeras, which were amazing as always. They enchiladas are stuffed well with Mexican cheese, and heavily topped with the same. It gets a little loud in here as the place fills up with mall shoppers and kids, but it still would be nice enough for a date night. It is a bit more elegant inside than most mall restaurants. Definitely it is a great place to check out when in the area."
"The service was good. The food was delicious. The server was very kind and on top of things. Great service and food was great. We will be returning. Thank you"
