Just walking into the restaurant you feel an eclectic vibe of excitement and joy. Fast paced but relaxed, busy but not loud. We had drinks at the bar to begin with and even ordered a few appetizers that were fantastic!! The frog legs and the charbroiled oysters! I could have ended my night right there but elected to remain at the bar and ordered the Tomahawk for 2. In all the excitement I only took pictures on Snapchat and have none to share here! I guess I have to return!

While in town for work, I had a hankering for a good meal. Preferably a good steak. One I did not mind paying a little extra for. Whilst speaking with colleague of mine, she mentioned Border Foundry and said they had an amazing steak, but to bring my wallet. That sounded right up my alley, so a time was set, and it was a date. But not that kind of date...I arrived early and walked in. The atmosphere was very upscale, but very casual. My coworker arrived and we were seated promptly. Our waitress arrived and took our drink orders quickly. We perused the menu, and the drinks arrived showed up shortly thereafter after. My coworker, not a carnivore like myself, opted for fries as an appetizer, and some sort of salad. I ordered the 16 ounce ribeye, medium rare and the roasted garlic au gratin. Not a fan of the broccolini, I asked for an alternative, to which she said there was none. So, I opted to just pass that to my vegetable loving friend. The waitress did mention that mashed potatoes could be substituted for the au gratin potatoes, so I took her up on that. I like au gratin potatoes, I just prefer mashed better. Maybe next time au gratin. After some good conversation with my coworker, and a little bit of time, our food arrived. My dish looked amazing, and my coworker's looked good, if you like vegetables. Time to dive in.My first cut into the ribeye was an indicator this had the makings of a wonderful steak. It smelled great, the crust was perfect, and my knife cut through the meat with no effort at all. There was the perfect color of red with just a tinge of pink. I took my first bite and wow. Great flavor, and it melted in my mouth like butter. My tastebuds were rejoicing. I paused from the steak to dive into the potatoes. Again, my tastebuds were in sensory overload. Some of the most creamy potatoes I had ever had. Absolutely delicious. Needless to say, my dish was devoured. At this point, I had forgotten my coworker was even there with me. Amazing dish. After our meals were consumed, I contemplated dessert. Our waitress gave us options, and the only thing that sounded appealing to me was bananas fosters dish. I decided to go all out, and just pay the king's ransom. Pull out all the stops. My coworker initially decided for dessert, but declined at the last minute. After some more conversation, and just a little time, my dessert arrived. The presentation was unimpressive, and a stark contrast from the main course. This dessert was a banana with some sauce on it, and some nuts. Little or no effort was put into it, and the taste took the wind out of the sails. The banana was overly mushy, and very small. My only guess is that dessert is not ordered much here, so they focus more on the main dishes. No harm, no foul. I will keep this in the back of my mind for next time. We received and paid our bills, and were on our way. I was very pleased. Overall, the experience and food were excellent. Why only four stars? The simple answer is price. I am a connoisseur of steak, so it is of my opinion that $60 for a ribeye steak was a bit overboard. As far as steak goes, the taste was five out of five, undisputedly. I would even say out of all the steaks I have had in my life, this one would be in the top three. Also, this was not a suit and tie place, so you should not have to pay suit and tie prices. I highly recommend here and definitely will return. If you are in the area, and have some cash to spend, stop by. You will be glad you did. Enjoy.

What a find! We wanted some pizza and found surprisingly few options so settled on Border Foundry and we definitely did not settle. This place is cool and the food delicious. We sat at the bar and Omar was our bartender. He was friendly and helped us make our decisions. He was also quick with drinks and super nice. Thanks Omar. If you find yourself in Laredo there is at least one good pizza place. They also have a lot of other choices that aren't pizza.

It had been a couple years since my last visit. The place has great atmosphere but service and food quality are inconsistent. We were a group of eight and at least four of us ordered the beet salad, which came floating in vinegar. I waited over 10 minutes to catch the waiters attention, who felt aggravated when I complained about mine, and rushed me onto deciding what else to get.I got to taste my friends pizza, which was overdone.

We tried to get reservations at the Tack Room but they didn't reach back out to us. Panicking, I did some further research and found this place being right next to our work station. Some co-workers heard great things about this spot so I stopped in here and attempted to make a reservation for 7 of us. Fortunately they were able to fit us in here on a Thursday night for a work-group dinner.First, the interior of the restaurant is clean, bright, and inviting. The bar area looks festive with the displays of liquor and wine options. Tables can be easily assembled to accommodate larger parties. And it's a semi-open kitchen where you can see the dishes being presented for serving. It does it get loud depending on the crowd. Upon seating, we realized there was another work-party dinner AND a graduation dinner happening around us so servers were running around left and right for us all.Speaking of service, they are attentive and they did the best they could with the large parties. We got our drinks in a timely manner for the most part. There was some communication issues as a few people ordered beers but got iced tea instead; weird. We mentioned beer again but used the term 'cerveza' which they responded promptly to. So maybe that's the secret word when ordering beer here. Since they have a large wine selection, I started with a glass of Picket Fence Pinot Noir before switching to the Ferrari Sauvignon Blanc. Both excellent choices! Now for food, they have an extensive menu of appetizers, burgers/sands, pizza, and 18 different entree items. I went with the pork chop w/ the gnocchi and pecan pesto. Several others ordered the smoked cornish hen. We also had another order the herb crusted salmon w/ risotto and yogurt sauce. A couple others did the Gulf Shrimp Carbonara and Chicken alfredo. We all enjoyed our dishes; the pork chop was quite tender and the gnocchi w/ pesto had nice flavor and complimented the protein. The cornish hen was tasty although a bit dry according to those who ordered it although they loved the au gratin potatoes that were served with it. The salmon and pasta dishes were enjoyed by the recipients who finished them clean.Overall, we had a solid meal here and will likely return for another team dinner should we be in Laredo. Props to the staff for accommodating us last minute!

I was a little disappointed my second visit to this restaurant. The menu did not say the scallops were going to be wrapped in bacon. When they came out and I told the server I couldn't eat bacon he just shrugged and made no effort to remedy the situation for this pescatarian. I cannot have bacon and so I could not partake in that dish. It kind of seemed that the server did not understand what my complain was as he smiled when he talked it us but then he didn't seem to comprehend what I was saying. My friend had cranberry juice and when they offered her refills she assumed it was like ordering a fountain soda and the refills were complimentary. Imagine her surprise when the bill came and her beverage was $7.50! For the cost of lunch at this business I expect service to be a little more on point. Hopefully they can have a conversation with their servers to ensure customers have a better experience in the future.

Great food and service. Ambiance is good too, nice clean bar and grill. Need to expand side order menus, ordered a steak but would have liked a choice of asparagus, rice pilaf , Brussels sprouts, etc.
