Barrera's Fried Chicken

Barrera's is our go to spot every time we're passing through on our way home to Edinburg. First off, they don't skimp on their chicken or servings. Nowadays when fried chicken places are cutting a chicken breast in half to make it two pieces, Barrera's remains true to their service by serving a full large chicken breast in all their plates!! Speaking of service they not only go out of their way to ensure customers are happy, but they will take the extra step to add a few pieces of chicken if the portions look small to them. Recently we arrived at this humble little hole in the wall as they were closing and not only did they accommodate our order but because they could not fulfill the entire order at the end of day, they still stepped up to add some extras!! Finally, the crispy chicken with their special seasoning is the best!! Tastes like no other and its uniqueness is a one & only just like the restaurant. I dont believe there is a better place south of Robstown & that's why we will always stop here on our way home.

Cluckin great! Perfectly cooked moist fried yard bird. Don't drive thru this little spot without pulling over. Nothing other than a couple of benches to sit on so plan on eating to go. Support hardworking folks asking a fair price for some of the best fried chicken you may ever eat. 2 legs and 2 thighs for $5.98...Deal! (The 2 legs didn't last long enough to make the photo shoot )

The chicken when fresh is really good especially with the seasoning they use. The gizzards with gravy on top is the reason I still eat here when I'm in town visiting family. Been eating Barrera's for over 40 years and it's a staple in Robstown. Great service as usual!

Most delicious fried chicken in Texas. Great service and great price. Family owned and been established for many years.

Somehow stumbled upon a TikTok about this place just in time for our trip from Houston to the RGV. We stopped by to grab some chicken for lunch and all I can say is WOW!!! So delicious! My husband and I agree it's the best fried chicken we've ever had. Friendly staff, too! Not much for ambience but we sat in the car and enjoyed our meal regardless. No restrooms so we had to use the HEB across the street. I would definitely come back and tbh I wish we'd stopped by again on our way back home. #regrets

It's delicious...and a good price. The chicken has a good flavor and crispy. It was a lot of food. I shared it with co-workers. The trip to Barrera's is worth it.

No flavor at all. Very disappointing. Friendly staff but they can't overcome flavorless fried chicken

Table was dirty which is expected to be outside but it looked unclean for days and it was kinda annoying that they didn't have drinks or condiments and they did tell us they didn't have condiments till after having to walk down the street to get drinks. Overall food was good fresh a lil over seasoned. Give that old rugged aesthetic that some ppl might like.

I saw Barrera chicken on the Texas bucket list so we decided to drive all the way from Victoria to get it. We seen that it close at 7:30 so at 7 o'clock we called and nobody answered for 30 minutes we get there and they will not let us order the lady said, did you call it in? I said I've been calling for 30 minutes your phone is busy. She was very rude . And said no .and I will never travel down here again again to try this chicken heard it was good but with that customer service, who would want to go.

Raised in Robstown Tx I grew up eating fried chicken, French fries & gravy from Barrera's! No longer live in Robstown but make every effort to stop by pick up food from here when I'm in town! It's the best fried chicken in town!
