Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute- Corpus Christi

Aveda Arts & Sciences is a very professional outfit. Yes it is a teaching facility for the arts and sciences of hair styling, makeup and all the other essentials that go with salon work. But it really didn't feel like a school environment, it was very much a professional salon environment. I walked in on a Monday finally ready to get something done with my hair because, well it was a mess. It had odd shapes in it and I really couldn't do anything with it except put it in a scrunchie and hope for the best. I stopped dying my hair about 2 years ago and was working on getting it healthy and allowing my beautiful grays, my natural highlights, to shine through. But I realized I needed professional help and guidance.I went in and there was a man and a woman at the front desk. They were both very helpful and very professional. They asked me what I needed and I said I want a haircut and I described what I wanted and that young man mentioned scalp treatment. I asked him to describe what that was and what it would do for me. He told me of the different types of scalp treatments one for an oily scalp, one for a dry scalp and there was one other one, I can't remember what it was, but I went for the hydrating scalp treatment. The haircut by itself was $22 and adding the scalp treatment on to that was another $5. At that point I thought to myself, why not do the scalp treatment and see what happens. It wasn't going to cost me very much money and it could be something that I would find rather enjoyable. I am so glad that young man mentioned the scalp treatments. I think everybody who gets their haircut ought to have a scalp treatment because it cleans away build up of product and the hydrating one was especially enjoyable. It was a very cool and soothing treatment and it was a little tingly but not to where it was worrisome. Quite frankly I never felt so clean in my whole life. I've been washing my hair of course, like every other person does but this was the cleanest my scalp has ever felt. I loved it and there is no way I am not going to do that again. It will be a go-to. The young lady who cut my hair was Crystal and she is a very sweet lady, very personable and listens well. That this is a teaching facility I also got to interact with a couple of the educators there. Paige and Danielle were helping Crystal by answering her questions and helping me because I had questions as well as to what their professional point of view was as far as what I wanted. After I left Aveda, I went to one of my favorite places to eat, Price's Chef, and complete strangers were complimenting my hair. Everywhere I went after the salon, I got compliments and remarks on my hair.The service that I got there was well worth the money I paid for it. The products that they sell there are high quality and very dependable. I will go there again for general of keep of my hairdo and also maybe experience some of their other services. Great school in a high-end environment. I graduated from esthetics school myself and love supporting students. I had my eyebrows/eyelashes tinted and the student took great care working on me. Just remember-this is a school and students are learning so be kind and patient. I will be back soon!

I got a facial from Ann a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! I left feeling like my face was glowing can't wait to go back!

I've been going to Aveda since I was younger and I have never had a single compliant about how my hair looks leaving the salon. Save your money, get your haircut by a student! (they are all awesome people as well)

Things to improve...friendliness, approachability and professionalism by the paid staff. Amazing that you can walk in when there are no customers present and be ignored for 20+ minutes. Then cop an attitude when the customer questions them about wait times. I will never go back. Pleas delete my account and lose my number. I would rate less than 1 star, but alas I can not.

Went here last year, thought all would be good. I came with the understanding that a student would be cutting my hair so yes, something could go wrong. To my absolute shock, she wasn't the one who terribly messed up my hair.. The instructor was. I have very curly hair, which apparently they don't see often, so the instructor just kept cutting and cutting and cutting until i had barely any hair left. I told them I wanted a TRIM!! After a year, I decided I would go back for a conditioning or a facial with my birthday discount. Requested an appointment and never heard back. Over all just a mess of an establishment.

I went in with several pics of both cuts and color I wanted. I wasn't heard. I have a black 2 in color framing my face. I wanted highlight frame. Wanted more highlights than low. Didn't want bangs, but student did. No, no bangs. Didn't even check her own cut, let alone an instructor. Didn't cut enough - just really quick. Really rough rinsing out hair. Had to do toner 2x. She wanted to blow out my hair. I only use diffuser. She didn't have one, so I left with wet hair.

My absolute favorite place to get my salon and facial services done!! Friendly staff and students. So happy they have a location nearby.

Aveda does a great job teaching their students. I always leave satisfied because they are willing to do what it takes to make the customer happy. My only complaint is how long the services take. 7+ hours for full foil is a bit difficult to bear.

Exceptional treatment for every guest who walks through the door. Any challenges holding you back are sure to be solved with the Aveda team.
