Aunt Jo's BBQ

NATIVE TEXAN and I have to say this is the BEST BBQ I've ever had!!!! Family owned, small place, old school smokehouse feel. Had the sausage sandwich, potato salad and tried the brisket. The brisket was juicy, amazingly tender, cooked to perfection!!! And let's not forget the BANANA Pudding!! This hidden gem is worth the stop and worth the wait. The service was friendly and welcoming. Outdoor seating only but take it to go!! We ate in the car because of the wind but would do it all over again!

When you walked in the place smells like good wood smoke, They we're kind and greeted us, but their service was not all that, we were the only ones there, but there was a conversation going on and it seemed everyone was in it. We got there it was lunchtime It was about 11:45 amNo chicken, no sausages. We had to get the ribs and they were dry and burnt, the brisket was not good, but it had enough smoke in it, just dry and some parts when you bit down on it you got a mouth full of grease. The Barbecue sauce was really the best thing we had.

Very marginal BBQ. Fatty and very little taste. Don't bother stopping at this one.

One our way to the Valley from Houston we decided to stop and give this place a try. We had the "BBQ Roundup". Which came with Brisket and Sausage for Protein and had the potato salad, pinto beans, and dirty rice instead of the Cold slaw as sides. They give you the bbq sauce on the side. The brisket was awesome. Had to just add a little of the yummy bbq sauce. The sausage was good but not the best. But over all good stop to get your Texas BBQ on. And no the blond is not mean. She is great! Along with the rest of the crew. We had a laugh about previous posts about the "blond".

I ordered a pound a brisket to go, and a brisket frito pie. They cut the bark off my brisket and saved it for themselves I guess, which I didn't appreciate. The brisket was very dry. The frito pie was good, but would have been a lot better if the brisket wasn't dry and overcooked. Hopefully they make some improvements and I'll try again next year.

I saw the reviews on this place which is why I went there to begin with. I had three in my party that day. We ate there around September 17, 2023.One person had a sausage and brisket sandwich, another had a one meat plate and another had a two meat plate. I thought the ribs were mediocre at best.They served us the brisket that is just loaded with heavy marbled fat. I wouldn't even make chop beef with that brisket. In fact there was a stray dog, or I hope it was a stray dog that was hanging around there that we fed most of that brisket to.I didn't find anything authentic about the sides there. We got the banana pudding and wished we hadn'tI thought the food there cost just as much as any other barbecue place which seemed high to me to begin with.You can get way better food for the money you pay to eat here.I'm hoping that was an off day and that they produce better food than what we were served. I kind of felt like that's what was left and they didn't want to throw it out.We waited way too long to eat and we're so hungry we just ate the food and left. I didn't go there for a free meal and paid for what I got, But remember the old saying, shame on me for doing it twice. Not gonna happen.

I'm not much for bbq. Boyfriend says the brisket sandwich is great. Moist and lots of it. The sides u can get I have had the potato salad and it's good. The beans r the best. very flavorful and they usually run out. Today tho, the best thing I've eaten there was the cheeseburger. New on the menu. good sear outside moist and juicy inside. Cooked while u wait. looks to b 1/2 pound. Gordon Ramsay would b proud to eat this. Don't b put off by the looks of the place. Do yourself a favor and check out Aunt Jos bbq on hwy 77 Victoria. Excellent Texas BBQ on the side of 77. Brisket was better than 90% of the places we have around Houston. Small family owned joint with nice folks. First time stopping here and I'd highly recommend a stop if you're around Victoria or just passing thru.Outdoor seating only but the food and hospitality make it worth the stop. Oh and if you're lucky enough to meet "Reba", she's an excellent host and greeter.

This place is definitely not easy to get to but is worth it. I had the best brisket and definitely preferred the fattier kind to the lean as the fat texture was buttery and not chevy. The baked beans were flavorful and delicious. The pork ribs were also good. Portions are generous and staff is very friendly.

We've passed by it many times but never stopped. Glad we did. The brisket was moist, the sausage was juicy, the potato salad and ranch style beans were good. Very friendly staff. We also bought a slice of pecan pie which was good not extremely sweet. We also had homemade chocolate chip cookies. We decided not to sit in the patio due to the noise of the highway so we sat in the car which was peaceful. We got the 2 meat plate which was sufficient for 2 people at a reasonable price. They also have cute merchandise for sale; seasonally decorated pens, shirts, cups and car scents. Don't expect Buc-ee's clean restrooms.
