Animal Hospital of Padre Island

This clinic gets five stars from us. We were in Padre on vacation and one of our pups hurt his back. They worked us into their schedule, got our records from our vet at home, communicated costs with zero pressure on our choices, (which were 100% aligned with their recommendations), and took care of our little guy. Having been a vet tech and having managed a hospital in the past, I am discerning. The staff was friendly and compassionate. Dr. Galvin was awesome. In addition to the excellent service provided, they made sure we had the contact info for the 24 hr emergency clinic in case he had complications. They were very thorough. We were very thankful to have found them given the circumstances.

Bad experience with this clinic. If I could give zero stars I would! It's unfortunate that they can't get good vet techs at this clinic. Very insensitive and what nasty attitudes. It's impossible to work with these people, they lack compassion. If you love your pet, then go somewhere else!

I have taken my dog to this vet for over 5 years. Because of and incident yesterday I will be taking my fur baby elsewhere. I won't complain publicly but, I wouldn't change vets if it wasn't an egregious business error on their part. Loyalty goes a long way and they lost mine.

Best dog grooming prices I've found, period! Veterinary services a bit more pricey than OTB but convenience for Islanders almost makes up for that! Overall I'm happy with the care my pets get here!

I love this place for my sweet little Cheetoh! It's right by my place which is great for me! What anyone else will agree to and love is that the staff truly does love their furry clients! Every time I walk in with my pup someone from the staff comes to get him from me just to give him hugs and kisses! They all want to hold him and play with him! They know all their pets names as well! One sweet staff member even offered to help me out with pet sitting! Every time I have called they fit me right in either that day or the next! They offer multiple services too for your pets like grooming and dog boarding! Great place and great value!

Extremely expensive and a lack of compassion!! I had a very sick kitty and they made no effort to work me in! I have taken my other animals there and wanted to keep them all in one place, I explained this and the fact that my cat was having trouble urinating. All I got was, sorry we are a week out, you will have to go to the emergency clinic in town. The last kitty I took there for a urinary infection was over $180!!

They overcharge, wont reply to emails asking to explain the overcharges. I called and girl said the vet assistant that gives you a quote before they see your animal doesnt know the prices ! Really. Do not recommend to anyone !

The first time I arrived for my appointment, I was told they didn't "have a spot for me". Huh? I have an appointment, how can that be? Perhaps if they can't keep an appointment they might call. They'd certainly expect that from me. The second time I tried, I called from the parking lot upon my arrival as they instructed. There was no answer for more than five minutes. I finally rolled down all the windows for my dogs and went inside. Their explanation: we're short on techs. That doesn't even make sense: the techs don't answer the phone, the receptionist does. After that we waited 45 minutes in an exam room. When the tech finally arrived, she was rude and incompetent, and advised we'd be there "at least another hour"... For a rabies booster and nail trim. Wow. Later, they brought me papers and asked if they were my copies or theirs. How am I to know? Now I have to review the entire file to determine whether I still have all the records that are mine? If they can't keep track of paper, how much confidence can I have that they can care for animals? Also, when I asked how much my dog weighed they had to weigh her again because "there are three of us and we all had different answers". The dog there for a nail trim was returned with his harness all askew. Again, if they can't manage to put a harness back on a dog correctly, how much confidence can I have that they can care for him? When my island neighbors heard of my experience, they were not surprised. They shared their own horror stories, including the very avoidable death of at least one pet. Do yourself a favor and cross the bridge for vet care.

Very friendly and knowledgeable. Took time with my dog to diagnose and treat and describe in detail how to care for him.

Just recently went to this hospital since the usual hospital that I take my pups to didn't have any available appointments any time soon. I'm so glad this happened because I would've never known about this location. I was given excellent customer service from the moment I went in. The receptionist was very friendly, the technician was very patient with me as I explained the situation and the veterinarian was very attentive and informative. This is definitely a place that I would take my pups to again.
