Visiting for the first time in yeeears! Still the great tasting flavors of Alvin Ord's! Thank you for keeping tradition in a town that continues to grow.

I loved the food Used to eat at the one in RR growing up Pretty expensive though nowService was fine Ambiance normal It's in a college town I remember the bread being better in the past I'd go back

They basically serve muffulettas, along the line of Schlotzsky's, but minus all the Cinnabon, pizza frou-frou and corporate feel. The menu is basic, the prices good, the ambiance funky. I was happy to see that Alvin Ords still exist. I loved the one in Huntsville and it's good to know you can still get that simple goodness without going full corporate.This becomes a San Marcos must for me. Check it out!

One of the things when I do reviews is if they are consistently good and this place always hits. They are very busy so I suggest to call ahead but the quality of their food the flavor it's always so good. I prefer this over Schlotzkys any day. Staff is always wonderful. Also, their coconut cream pie is so good.

I am a sucker for a really good sandwich. I love really good delis and this is the best kept secret in San Marcos. The ingredients are fresh, the sandwich bread is amazing, and their homemade ranch is really good. My favorite is the turkey and getting a side of ranch to dip it in. The staff are friendly and it's a cute little hole in the wall.

I love this place!! Super cute and d the food is great. Worth it. A nice short walk after a day of swimming at Sewell.

This place absolutely shreds. It's so good.Word around the campfire is that this is the OG schlotzskys and the company split up way back in the day.I always get the salvation sandwiche and it's amazing. The bread is outta control, the meat is great and tasty, and everything on it tastes real fresh and REAL, whereas at a chain place like s*bway you kinda feel like you're eating some lab engineered crap.The inside hasn't been updated since we were cast out of the garden of Eden, but that lends itself to an old school feel. Bring markers and add to the graffiti! All the booths are totally covered and makes for a unique photo op.The service leaves a little to be desired, but please remember you're dealing with disgruntled college students who don't make enough and also don't understand the world completely. This is also handmade food we're talking about and again, not assembly line crap like s*bway. Your patience will be rewarded with free refills, don't worry!

We've been loyal customers of this sandwich shop every time we visit San Marcos (sometimes on a weekly basis), so naturally, when we were in town for a Texas State athletics facility tour and a 7-on-7 tournament, we wanted our players and parents to experience Alvin Ords. One of our coaches, a TXST football player, had raved about it, making it an easy sellWanting to place a large order for 36 sandwiches, we called days in advance to confirm if they could accommodate it. They assured us they could, as long as we placed the order 24 hours ahead. We did exactly that, only to receive a call an hour later after placing the order saying they couldn't fulfill it. The reason we were given? The owner doesn't want to make that much extra bread in the morning.We were willing to pay full price, followed their timeline, and still got left scrambling at the last minute. Thankfully, we found another business that was eager to step up. Unfortunately, after years of enjoying Alvin Ords, this experience changed everything for us. We won't be returning or recommending it anymore. Large order or not, this felt like a lazy excuse, and great businesses don't turn down opportunities--they rise to them. Do better.

The sandwich is so good and it's crunchy. It's tasty all in one. it is a good looking vibe in here and the customers were very nice and friendly to us.
