This is a good homestyle cooking spot in a tiny Texas hamlet. The decor is is typical for a small town. The staff was attentive, polite, and efficient. The food was tasty. I had the 1/2 portion of CFS. My wife had a burger. Both were delicious. I doubt I'll ever end-up in this area again, but if I do, I will return to eat here.

The family and I stopped here on our way back to North Texas. There is a nice bar and plenty of seating for families. I ordered a fried snapper plate with rice and onion rings, my kids had hamburgers with fries, and the wife had stuffed crabs with vegetables.Now, let me begin with, in my opinion is the most important thing about this place. ALL the fried food was cooked to perfection, and there was no grease left over on my plate, on the food or in any bite I took! That ladies and gentleman is hard to do, and these folks pulled it off with style .The restaurant has plenty of parking and the bathrooms were clean. When we arrived, there was a good bunch of people already in the dining room and one server. She greeted us, touched our table multiple times, and answered all our questions... Even though she was in the weeds, she was a rock star, and the little wait was worthwhile!I will definitely visit this place again next time we are in town. The only reason I left 4 stars is because there is room for improvement from a management standpoint, but staff, cleanliness, and deliciousness were 5 STARS!I highly recommend!

Crispy shrimp salad was good. Service was good. Food came out quickly. Very pleased. Definitely worth the stop.

First time going here today based on friends recommendation. The service was great for a Sunday. Had the fried pickles as an appetizer and chicken fried steak for lunch. The portions were large and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was more of a bar setting with a restaurant on the side, but still had a family setting. This place would be great for a Friday or Saturday outing with friends. The tables are large and each has an ice chest in the center to keep the drinks nice and cold. Puts a different twist on a bucket of beer. A lid fits over the opening if you don't want to use it.

STOP HERE ASAP!!!Every time I thought I would get to go here - it didn't work out. Finally got to get in and try this place. If you are headed south - skip everything in Port Lavaca. If you are headed north, ignore the hunger pain until you get here. You won't be sorry. We ordered loaded fries, and the Hamburger Steak and chicken. Fried chicken with masked potatoes, salad, and Texas toast. All delicious. Fries are thin and crispy to hold the cheese and bacon. Great Hamburger Steak and brown gravy. Great cream gravy and potatoes. Good sized portions Bring your appetite. Seriously y'all need to stop here and check out the food. And they have a bat where you can catch sports on the tv. The decor is original and really inviting. Clean and just what is perfect anytime. Five stars for me is reserved for perfect experiences. My only complaint was the waitress. Clearly, she must have been working all day because she pulled her order pad from her pocket and slapped it down on the table saying "what can I get you?" Service was okay. We were provided with acceptable service - that's all I can say.

Stopped by on way from Victoria to Rockport & what a nice surprise--the food was fantastic! They have a limited menu but made w/good quality foods. I had their popular chicken fried steak & it met expectations. The batter was nicely seasoned & the mashed potatoes were, well, fresh! My hubby had the best burger in a very long time. We'll definitely be back!

Staff was very friendly when we got there and the food was absolutely delicious shows that small towns can have hidden gems and the detail of the place was fantastic.

Great chicken fried steak and burgers. Nice folks too! The seating is a little hard, but we can live with that.
