2nd Street Bistro & Bar

Great little spot to grab a bite to eat or a drink. It's located just a few steps down from the lobby. There's a huge bar area and a few small tables to sit at. The staff is incredibly friendly.The food menu is a mix of salad, soup, pasta, sandwiches, pizza and heavy items like steak or pork chops. Prices range from $10-39. If you have a gluten allergy they have gluten free bread, pizza dough, and pasta!I got the club sandwich on gluten free bread. It came with a choice of side. The sandwich was really good! Not dry like some and they didn't skimp on the avocado. Definitely a great place to grab food if staying at the hotel.

Updating a previous review to add new menu prices. They have increased quite a bit in the last 3 months. The service is still horrible. Last night my water was never refilled. I only saw the waitress when she dropped off the menu and took my order then when she delivered my order then when she brought the check. It was a lot of sitting there hoping her and the other larger girl would look up from their phones to bring me something. Tonight was much worse. Even after leaving a 30% to be nice last night I was completely ignored tonight and after 10 minutes went to the bar and asked for a menu. She never came back to take my order actually a guy from the back that brings food up saw I was being ignored and came up and asked what I wanted and 6 minutes later I had food. Then it was a 20 minute wait to get a check while they were busy yelling at guys across the lobby. While I'll stay at this hotel again I won't waste my time eating here again. The food was great, no issues with the food, the waitresses just don't care to serve people sitting at tables, just the guys sitting at the bar. Waste of my time and money.

Stayed at the hotel on business for a couple of nights. We decided to eat at the bar, atmosphere is nice with live soft music. First night I ordered the NY steak, it was pretty dry and over cooked when I ordered it medium rare. The worst part was the asparagus that came with the steak, they should have been in the trash and not on a plate as they were no longer green but the stems were yellow....next day we ordered pizza and they served it cold. The two girls at the bar service were absolutely horrible, you had to chase them down for drinks and other needs or keep asking. They were to busy on their phone or talking and not tending to the customers. I'll stay at the hotel again but will opt to eat elsewhere or order UBER eats. Worst bang for your buck.

For Hotel food when you too tired to go out is actually pretty good. Girls at the Bar are very nice and attentive

This is the bar at Doubletree Hotel in McAllen. They've always had good wines and sad draft beer selections, but the food is top notch. I had a Cobb Salad with grilled salmon on top. Generous portions including wine pours. Delicious food. Check it out when you're in town.

Pizza was the worst I have ever had. It was over cooked and the crust tasted like cardboard.

Was craving steak and Boom here we are . Found this place through Yelp and had me a Tomahawk bone in. They also have buffet during the week so I'll be coming back .

Food is delicious but service could be better. I recommend the crispy ribeye and pizza - so good! The wait staff is expected to go between the bar and tables and leads to disappointing service but the food makes up for it. The ambiance is also very strange because of the hotel setting but again over-lookable because of the quality of the food. Will return.

Disgusting!! Was sitting at the bar drinking a beer when a roach walked up and on my beer napkin. I had finished an appetizer and a beer prior. I killed the roach with my beer and asked to take a beer can up to the room. The reaction of the staff can best be described as subdued. There is a lot one can infer from that!!

The 2nd street Bistro has a pretty great happy hour. I heard from a majority of people that the pizza was great. The buffet breakfast in the morning was always delicious, I especially enjoyed their made to order omlets. On Wednesday they had a Mexican themed buffet for lunch which was definitely worth it. Throughout the week of my stay in the hotel the staff at the restaurant were all very sweet and accommodating!
