24 Diner

This Diner is closed. It was never a 24 hour diner and did not have a trained chef. It's sad, the people are kind, they tried but they didn't know how to have consistent food or marketing.

My fiancé's roommate recommended this little cafe. It's actually pretty good, very large portions, and fantastic service and the pie is awesome. Thanks for the fantastic experience...

We stopped for a bite to eat. I ordered meatloaf, green beans and salad. I told the waitress "No onions"! When the meatloaf came, I began to eat it and realized it was full of onions. I ate about 3 bites, trying to pick the onions out but there were too many. I am allergic to them. I told the waitress that she never mentioned there were onions in the meatloaf. She said "I don't know what is in it, it is homemade" I pointed out that I had specifically stated NO ONIONS! She said oh sorry. She never once offered to get me something different. I even told the gal that checked us out. She didn't offer to reduce the fee or anything. I ended up paying $8 for a tiny bowl of green beans and a tiny salad. I would never eat there again!!!

Saturday, 6pm. Glad to see new ownership, new menu but the service drives customers away!! Only 1 other table and waitress took 10 min to give us menus, 4 other staffers including manager were sitting at table chatting/laughing. After ordering it was clear that the 2 waitresses on the floor couldn't handle the 3 more tables of customers that came in. Slow and slower. They didn't seem too concerned at the patrons looking around the room for someone to care. The manager finally made herself look busy but didn't appear to really do anything or help with customers. Our entre sat on the kitchen counter for 20 minutes...I timed it!! Waitress had the nerve to serve this cold food and then blame the kitchen! I sent food back and at least it came out hot. 4 of the 5 tables were not happy and I doubt they'll ever return. Refugio has limited options, it's a small town . This place could be great but running off business won't keep the doors open for long.

This is a new restaurant, opened a little over a month and attached to a gas station "travel center". With that in mind, I'll try to be fair. We were greeted right away and the service remained good throughout our meal. We started with a cup of chili which was pretty good. It had just enough heat/spice and the meat was chunky and tender. When asked if it was made in house, our waitress said "Yes, my boss makes it". :)Unfortunately the meal went downhill after that. I ordered a BLT which had very little bacon on it. What bacon there was, was burnt and very crumbly. Not a solid strip on it. My husband ordered the fish sandwich. The fish was fresh and fried perfectly. The only problem is that is was catfish. Generally a fish sandwich is something like Cod or at least not a bottom feeder fish. It was supposed to be served on a hoagie roll, but was served on a regular bun. Which fell apart. The fries are pretty good. I don't think they are house made, but still fried just right. For the location and being newly opened, it was not the worst place we could have picked. Hopefully a little time and experience will bring it up a notch.

So far we've been here for an hour now. It's me and 4 children. We didn't order anything crazy. A sandwich, 2 omelets, animal pancakes and 2 eggs. An older couple has been here longer than we have ... they're still waiting! Apparently they run out of things at 6:30 pm on a Saturday! We finally got our food about 45 minutes after ordering. It was awesome! Too bad it took too long to get it, would've been a 5 star rating!

Philly Cheese Steak was delicious great portion-great price! The service was friendly and with a smile. Wait time about 7 minutes. Very clean atmosphere.

The food was delicious for a 45 minute wait and a sub-par customer service. Highly recommend the BLT.

Service was great and waitress was nice. However there are no soft drinks which didn't bother me. The waffle did get stuck or something which took longer for my mom to get her food but the waitress was the sweetest. The food was bland but eh.

Reminded me of the old truck stops, with good food and friendly waitstaff.The very nice waitress was extremely helpful. We had hamburger steak, grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, Mac n cheese everything was very good.
