At first walking through the sketchy back alleys and dumpsters made me doubt my choice of bar but once you enter it's a very well curated bar! Lots of effort placed in creating a warm, classy and unique vinyl/upscale/relaxing vibe. Bartender was super knowledgeable and dedicated to crafting high quality drinks. We tried several of their signature cocktails and all tasted extremely complex and unique, you can tell the high quality ingredients. My favorite was the Halekulani, was delicious! Great natural fruit including pineapple and passion fruit smoothly infused into the bourbon base. I would go back again!Pricing is on the higher side but great experience!Need to find parking on the streets.

I would not patronize an establishment that's a pain to find and when you show up they ask for a reservation. Having spent 15 mins trying to park and walk there... they say tehre is no space for you for even for a quick drink.Convoy Music Bar is at best a tourist trap.Worse: a pretentious speakeasy with a failing business model.Thank you... but I will never ever bother again.

So I really don't like leaving negative reviews and I feel I gave this place several chances to make this right. So... we set up reservations, showed up and got checked in... but... the food selection was nuts and some extremely small things that would not even pass for appetizers, so since my girl and I were both starving, we decided to leave and to return another time. We told our server we were leaving then left. I was then charged 50 dollars for the reservation. I emailed three times (both Resy the third party reservation app and Convoy music) and added all the details including photos to show we actually did show up. Nothing. So since that happened, I will be a little more honest with my negative review. The spot is nice inside but you have to walk behind a few restaurants through a dirty alley to get to the entrance. This is Convoy, the area that has zero parking. So you will also have to walk far from your car. So that long walk down a small narrow alley that stinks of trash while wearing cocktail attire (the website insists and encourages dressing up)) really did not sit well with my girl who was wearing a dress and heels not to mention the strong smell of trash and cigarette smoke you had to walk by to get to the entrance. My girl was really turned off by the spot and honestly, I would advise that you do not go here and if you do, expect the trash and don't bother dressing up. Also eat before showing up since they do not have actual "bites"

I was recommended this speakeasy by a friend, and I can totally understand why Convoy Music Bar is her favorite speakeasy. Tucked behind the plaza in a little dark alley, you have to walk past dumpsters and an uneven pavement to get to an "on air" sign and a discreetly graffitied trash can with the name of the bar on it (which truthfully I did not enjoy especially since I was in heels). We had to wait a while to get in, but once you're inside, you're whisked into a beautiful, record-themed space, although we personally found the bar a bit cramped, especially with how full the speakeasy was. The meticulously crafted drinks all had unique themes and components, and we both enjoyed the Diamonds for Cash drink. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey, intimate spot, but do expect to have to put in a bit of work to find and walk to this spot.

Visiting Convoy Music Bar was definitely one of the highlights from my recent San Diego trip! I was a bit skeptical at first since it was tucked away in a dark, stinky alley behind shops but it's a real gem. The bartenders are super friendly here. Adam, Rob, and Dean took great care of us the 2 times we popped by. I definitely recommend getting a reservation beforehand because they get busy, but we got lucky and were seated without reservations. My favorite cocktail was the plum highball ($16) which was made with roasted hojicha tea, plum wine, and soda water. They have a Suntory highball machine so the sparkling water is extra carbonated. It was light and refreshing. We also tried the Vanna White Martini ($19) and Diamonds for Cash ($17). The Vanna White Martini was definitely strong and smooth, but still had pleasant floral and herbal notes. The Diamonds for Cash cocktail was balanced, fruity, and went down easily. Overall, I definitely recommend checking out Convoy Listening Bar for a polished but unpretentious speakeasy experience. Their playlists are fun and the interior is lovely, it's a great place for a date. Seating is limited though so it might not be the best place for groups larger than 4 people.

This well hidden and treasured hi-fi bar is gorgeous! I snatched a reservation maybe a week in advance with no problems. Honestly if we hadn't gone with friends who had been there before we probably never have found the entrance. It is located in the back alley of O'Brien's, and there is a red "on air" light sign but that's about it. Super nondescript. So you stand outside and one of the staff will come out to get you once seating becomes available. I'm really we got resos since there were few other smaller groups that stood outside waiting hopefully outside. The bar is shockingly tiny but they're done an amazing job to not make you feel cramped. Interior is sleek and intimate, with velvety furnished seating and gold trims. They have record albums on the wall and they play popular cover songs in Japanese. The drink menu is detailed, as it shows you the flavor profile of each cocktail concoction listed. For those who abstain from alcohol beverages, fret not they also have a couple cocktails up their sleeves. I can't remember what drinks we ended up getting but honestly you just can't go wrong with anything there. They have got their clear ice cube game down! See pics.I am excited to see how the SD restaurant and cocktail scene has blossomed over the past decade, and I am looking forward to coming back here to this fine establishment. I hope one day this place makes it to the top North America best cocktail bars... but maybe not! I want to gatekeep this!

Convoy Music Bar is the true definition of a speakeasy. You know you've found the entrance when you find yourself wandering through a dark, smelly back alley at night. But don't let the walk there deceive you - this bar has an upscale, relaxed ambiance that makes it perfect to getaway and have a couple drinks. The radio plays some awesome lofi music as well.I was able to snag some last minute reservations relatively easily on a Saturday night. I sat at a barstool, which made it easy to interact with the bartenders and get their opinions on certain drinks or just have casual conversations. The menu is pretty easy to navigate, but the bartenders have lots of advice if you're ever stumped on a drink description. My first drink was the Elysium - super unique drink that's not too spirit forward, and has a nice citrus-y/tangy kick to it. It comes with a biscuit on top that makes for an awesome experience taking a sip then taking a bite of the biscuit.I was super excited for their espresso martini, but unfortunately it just did not land well with me. Despite being described as a sweet drink, I honestly thought the orange peel really overpowered the entire drink and made it taste like I was drinking some really sour coffee. Nonetheless, I still loved my experience here and think it's worth checking out multiple times.

Parking in convoy area is always hit or miss! We found parking around the block. Definitely make reservations, this place is super small. Omg! I'm so sad I didn't visit this place sooner! It's so so cute. The entrance is in a little alley behind O'Briens! The service is amazing, drinks taste phenomenal, and the ambiance is such a vibe (good music, dim lighting, comfy seats, cute decor). The servers all made wonderful drink suggestions. They also have little snacks and bites you can order. I had a mocktail that was bartenders choice and it was DELICIOUS. I'm definitely coming back again and recommend if you're in the area.

Very cute little place. Don't wear open shoes because waking down the alkey can have wetness and debris. My servers, host, bartenders Adam, Dean, Ray so very nice. My drink was the Vanna White recommended by Ray. Was unique, during and enjoyable. The food I got had bread, cheese, truffle and chips and a great dip with gerkins. Needless to say, I was VERY pleased. I'll go again!

Cute speakeasy and nice vibes! The staff is kind and the drinks are nice. We enjoyed the music and the presentation of their drinks. They were also unique drinks and on their menu they have a legend of symbols that represent different characteristics of the drinks (strong, refreshing, adventurous, etc). My only complaints would be that yes speakeasies are small, but the seating we received was very small and narrow (fit between the walkway and a wall) with a tiny table. Thank goodness they had hooks under the table for my small purse or I wouldn't have any space, but there wasn't a place for my jacket behind my chair so I had to hold onto it. I'd also recommend for instructions to be sent on how to get to the entrance prior to the actual reservation! Parking is awful but that's typical with this plaza! Street parking is also tough sometimes
