Common Ground in Berry Hill is a fantastic addition to the Nashville dining scene! Having enjoyed their sister restaurant in Sylvan Heights, I was eager to see if this location would live up to the high standards set by its counterpart--and it absolutely does. The menu is eclectic and curated with a perfect balance of flavors. Whether you're in the mood for something hearty or a lighter, healthy option, there's something for everyone. The dishes are well thought out, and it's clear the chefs here put a lot of care into creating delicious meals with fresh ingredients. The ambiance is another standout feature. It's clean and contemporary, yet somehow still manages to be warm and inviting. It's a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or a casual date night. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for a new favorite spot in Berry Hill, I highly recommend giving Common Ground a try. It's a gem that brings a unique dining experience to the area!

Great atmosphere, wonderful staff. Parking may be an issue. Started with focaccia app, the house made whipped Boursin was a bit too salty and the grilled focaccia was oily. The sorghum butter and jam it was served with were amazing. Entrees: shrimp tacos were very heavy on slaw and bam bam sauce but lacking in shrimp, with only 3 small pieces per taco. Barilla tacos were more mini quesadilla than taco as they were heavy on the cheese ( which was burned to black, not an issue for me but def could be for some) and lacking in meat. I'd rather have 2 tacos heavier on protein than the 3 we were served as described. We finished with carrot cake which had good flavor but was quite dry. The icing was its saving grace. We decided to visit Common Ground after reading the rave reviews. The ambiance is great and staff were amazing. These are the things that will bring us back for a second glance. I think they can get there and hope they do.

Pro: the staff is very friendly. There is a nice cocktail menu. Con: service is very slow - 30 min to get lunch. We ended up going to the bar to pay our check. The food is just OK. The seating at the tables is extremely uncomfortable. My sister had shrimp and grits and said it was delicious but it needed to be spicier

What a sweet spot, they specialize in contemporary American food. I've been for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour. Each time is such a pleasant experience. The food is clean and fresh. My friends and I split a few dishes, and my favorite were the espresso martini flight, crispy potatoes, and kale salad! They have a bunch of other great options too. They have a small lot out front. Service was friendly and efficient, vibe was the perfect intimate setting for a girlfriend catchup.

Common Ground is going in my permanent rotation. We went at lunch and opted for the tasting menu. For $60 you get an impressive amount of excellent food. Each person gets two appetizers, a salad, main dish, and dessert. We began with the best focaccia I have ever had - so light and buttery with whipped Boursin. Next came short rib lettuce wraps - Korean BBQ with beautifully balanced Asian flavors. I chose the Miso Caesar as my salad and it is outstanding - love the miso dressing and it includes dried tomatoes and Parmesan crisps. My main dish was the steak and potatoes. The spiced tri-tip is beautifully seasoned with a creamy herb sauce. The fingerling potatoes were incredible. I really like the carrot cake also - moist and not overly sweet.

The food, the service, the atmosphere all 10/10. Came to Nashville to celebrate a birthday and wanted to try something new. Common Ground exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back!

Saturday Evening Happy Hour!Imagine our surprise when we visited Common Ground in Berry Hill for the first time on Saturday night when we were told it was "Happy Hour 'til 6:00." What? A Weekend Happy Hour in Nashville? Yep. In fact, they have Happy Hour 6-days a week (Tuesday - Sunday). So, of course, we sampled the Happy Hour menu! To be fair, the "Common Hour" food is labeled as "Bites," but that didn't stop us. The $4 Shrimp Taco had a lot of flavor and a good number of shrimp. The short rib Bahn Mi is not on the dinner menu, but it is served for Common Hour. It came in 2 shareable pieces. The short rib provided most of the flavor. It was tasty and easy to eat. We also tried the smashed fingerling potatoes with queso fresco. These were such a nice change from regular French fries. They were well cooked and well seasoned. They came with a bunch of queso fresco and a side of the "CG Sauce," which is a fancy fry sauce that is also served on their smash burger. It was a nice touch. I washed all of that down with a $5 beer. After all the Common Hour food, I tried the Seasonal Salad, expecting light and healthy. It was super fresh and loaded with apple pieces, roasted butternut squash, and spiced walnuts. The squash flavors blended really well with the black cherry vinaigrette. I would definitely get the Seasonal Salad again! The decor is simple, but they have a large and nicely stocked bar. The service was wonderful. Our server, Cassie, was super helpful and so pleasant. She did all the right things to help us enjoy our meal. In fact, all the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Yes, I miss the Yellow Porch a bit, but Common Ground is a strong new option for a nice meal or a date night dinner. We will definitely be back!

We got the shrimp starter, seasonal salad, and pasta. Plus a zero proof cocktail. The salad was our favorite part. They created a beautiful flavor and textural dish that really impressed us. The shrimp was good but the dipping sauce (avocado spread with zero flavor) was not a good pairing. In my opinion, they should have added salt and wasabi then it would have been a great dipping sauce. The pasta was a beef bolognese. They changed a great dish into a Chinese inspired dish which was not appealing to our palate. Having Asian style noodles with a spicy Italian sauce doesn't work, but it was a nice attempt. The cocktail (this side up) was really good, however at any restaurant I don't think pineapple juice and walnut bitters should be $10.Overall, we would like to try common ground again when the menu changes. Plus they have some cool espresso martini drinks that we would like to explore.

Fantastic service and fantastic food / drinks! Just needs a vibe check. We ordered the espresso martini flight to start (we both agreed the classic one is the best, hands down!) and it was fun. My husband also tried the Local Optimist and we both loved it. Super refreshing and an easy drinker. For a starter, we tried the short rib lettuce wraps and they were easily my favorite thing we got the entire night. Comes with a perfect sauce, I could have dipped everything in it. Smashburger was fantastic. The pickles were homemade, the sauce was perfect, and the potatoes were so good we asked our waitress how they were made so we could do them ourselves at home! Overall, a great experience. However - this restaurant needs a majorrrrrr remodel. The menu does not match the vibe. The tables and chairs are old and outdated (some falling apart), napkins were pilling, the decor is out of style, and the bar just has a ton of equipment and supplies piled to the ceiling. We were so confused how such a top-tier menu was living in a restaurant like that. I think the other location definitely has a more modern / updated interior (which is great!!) so we hope this one's next in line for a remodel? We would come back for the food only, not the environment.

My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner here and were pleasantly surprised that it was Happy Hour on a Saturday! Our server was outstanding- friendly and attentive. We tried the HH shrimp tacos and banh mi- both were filling and delicious- two in each order so perfect for sharing. My husband loved his winter seasonal salad and appreciated the fresh cut apples, sweet potatoes and spiced nuts. Normally I would have gotten that salad but opted for the Smashburger instead. It comes with smashed fingerling potatoes which is a nice departure from the typical fries everyone else serves. I liked my meal but it was a bit too salty for my tastebuds. We enjoyed the music and quiet ambience here- perfect for date night. We will be back again soon to try some of the drink specials!
