Delicious for both brunch menu and dinner menu!**Brunch Menu**Jerk Jackfruit Sliders: Dang, they made jackfruit taste meaty! These were delicious and hearty. Really pricy for what you get. The sliders are pretty small.Red Line: I think I liked this sandwich even better! The masala mayo was delicious, and nicely spicy. The brioche was perfectly toasted. Really fantastic.**Dinner Menu**Okra: This was... insanely overpriced. $14 for a few pieces of okra. I regret this dish most from our meal. It tasted decent, especially the sauce. Really not worth it though.Kelewele: On the other hand, this starter was amazing. Perfectly seasoned with a DELICIOUS hot sauce. The plantains were so good. This is a must order.Jerk Roasted Duck: This was my other favorite dish from dinner. Falling-off-the-bone tender. So flavorful. Every bite was just packed with flavor. You gotta try this.New Fish Curry: This dish was also very good. I loved the flatbread that came with it. Fish itself was decent.Yuca Fries: This one was okay. Not crispy enough. I like the ones at Gustazos better.Cacao + Blue Corn Cake: This dessert was also pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's a must-order.----Service was pretty slow for dinner. We went on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't particularly busy. Plenty of street parking outside.

I had booked this place a month in advance for a late evening time slot as they get filled quickly . The concept looked very interesting and I was eager to check this out with family .We sat outdoors as our group had 5 people and they did not have availability inside . This is a small place. Outdoor seating was cute and cozy. Th ere is one heater for the entire patio. Our server was great. She patiently answered our questions and took our orders. Our starters were great ! We had the kelewele and jackfruit sliders and ordered two rounds of both as they were really delicious but very small portions . The spicy chutney with kelewele was a hit with us . And I have never come across vegetarian sliders across my trips in US and this was delightfully delicious! The okra was really good too but not a shareable plate. I tried the side of Yucca fries as an appetizer. The chutney accompaniment was very good but the fries were ok. I had never tasted yucca fries before and didn't find them interesting. This is just me .I tried the Sindhi mushroom from entree as I was looking forward to it ..... sadly it missed the mark for me . The dumplings within were dry and rubbery and the flavor overall was very mild, for me . The cilantro rice from the sides section was delicious! I wish they would serve that as an entree. It was really good .My son had the banana leaf roasted chicken and daughter tried the fish curry.....both felt it could have better flavors. For dessert we all tried the Blue corn cake . It was not bad , very dry in its own through. The cardamom crema accompanying it was too mild for this cake. Overall I have given this a 4 for the ambience , starters and service . The entrees missed the mark for all of us.

The concept of this restaurant is incredible- celebrating all the incredible foods the African diaspora has brought the world. I love the decor inside (stunning) and I love the menu (thorough) with stories and details about several of the menu items. The cocktails were delicious! 5 star review for my plate of food- the chicken plate. My friends were not the biggest fans of theirs + the dessert was a tad dry. For the prices- I'm hoping for near perfect plates. I've also tried this place for their cafe hours and it does not disappoint!! Definitely worth checking out to try unique foods

Food: flavorful and exoticSalad and okra: very fresh and delicious. Salad has fruit and beer which gave aesthetic looking nd colorful. Okra was crispy and tender inside. The seasonings were quite new to me but in a good way Mocktail and cocktail: Was okay... I wasn't huge fan of the baobab mocktail as it was too sweet for me. Trout and braised beef: Trout was crispy and juicy. Again I'm not sure what sauce they used but it matched well with the dish. Braised beef was tender and soft - it was a special menu and was a great choicePistachio cardamom ice-cream: THE BEST. Cardamom was soo strong and tied well with pistachio. It was full of flavor and delicious. Would recommend the most

Inspired by the African diaspora, this place is tiny and very popular so you gotta book far in advance. I wasn't sure it would be worth the trek out to Dorchester (red line+bus combo ) BUT IT WAS. Deserving of all its accolades! Service was friendly, but a took the food a while to arrive.* Jerk roasted duck: some of the yummiest duck, so tender and fatty. Nice rice pilaf on the side too.* Za'atar brown butter trout: the real showstopper as I've never had fish like this. The eggplant puree was so flavorful.* Basque cheesecake: a bit disappointing, not creamy enough inside, but the orange blossom caramel was nice.

I go to Comfort Kitchen for the vibes. I go when I want to connect and feel happy. Comfort Kitchen is where my community lives. I love the people who make it all happen.Fortunately for me, I'm in the neighborhood. It's easy to go for breakfast or lunch (no reservations) or to sit at the bar for dinner (also, no reservations needed for that). I'll plan a little ahead of time and make a reservation for dinner if I have a special occasion. The space is pretty small, but it's well organized. I actually feel better at the bar than at a table, but that's just me.The food and drinks are super unique. You won't easily find dishes and drinks like this anywhere else! My favorites are the okra and seasonal salad. I loved the duck the last time I went. What's surprising is that things that you'd normally think are meh are actually WOW at Comfort Kitchen. For example, the rice and olive oil that accompanied my duck blew my mind. Same for the okra and salad. But truly, while the food is good, I like the sense of community at Comfort Kitchen. The people who work there feel like friends and are so inviting to me. I like to go anytime I want to feel like I'm part of something.

We came to try their cafe menu (available Mon-Sat). There was ample seating available for a Saturday afternoon, and we didn't have to wait for a table. The interior is cozy and intimately decorated. My husband, sister and I shared a few items. The pork momos were good, but slightly small for the price. I would pass on the jerk jackfruit sliders - although the concept seems interesting, the sliders were actually quite bland. The chicken and vegetables in the Upham's Bowl were also lacking in flavor, although I thought the buttered rice pilaf underneath was well-seasoned and surprisingly addictive. The pork belly in The Dreamer breakfast sandwich was especially hard, dry and tough to chew. Fortunately, their Basque Cheesecake with orange blossom caramel sauce (which is also on their dinner menu) was phenomenal. Rich, fragrant, luscious, and airy, this dessert alone is enough to bring us back. This restaurant has won numerous awards recently, so their dinner menu (reservation only) must be where it's at. Come during cafe hours to try their Basque Cheesecake if you're not able to book a dinner reservation!

This is a great addition to the neighborhood, however, they occasionally have some new business pains. Our first visit was very nice, we were able to sit outside. We ordered the Jackfruit sliders to start. I didn't love them, but that's just based on my flavor preferences. We also got the potato curry cake and roast duck. I loveddd the curry cake. The duck was good, but the portion was a bit on the small side. The second time we went with 2 more people and also dined outside. They were out of many alcoholic beverages and some food as well. Additionally, they must have been short staffed because our appetizer was completely forgotten and we had to check in on the status of our food after a while. We told them to skip the app as to not further delay dinner and someone randomly brought it out while we were eating. This time I ordered the yassah chicken -- it definitely has a surprising kick so just something to be mindful of. In terms of ambiance, I haven't been inside but it looks cute. There is some street parking, but not a ton. There is a lot behind CVS if you need it.

3.5/5 I was looking forward to this place and wanted to give it five stars. Unfortunately I cannot. The food is pretty good, drinks are great. Service is ok. Place is loud. Parking is a hassle. Now, we were charged extra for "extra people" despite calling before our reservation. No one told us it would be extra charge. We didn't even get a table, pretty much walked up to the bar! I called the next day and the front of house wasn't helpful. Sigh. I wanted to love this place but a bit disappointed with the fact that they didn't mention extra charges- which is not a big deal to pay, just that I found it annoying as I wasn't told about it.
