Young At Art

I love Young at Art, and I'm so glad I got to visit this place with my family when we were in Lancaster.We visited to try out the Splatter Studio, which is pretty much what it sounds like: it's a studio that you can visit to make splatter paintings. We got outfitted with goggles, aprons and other protective gear, then headed into a room with lots of neon paint and a few blank canvases. The lights were turned off, the music was turned on, and were allowed to splatter and throw paint against the canvases to create our own individual paintings. It was a therapeutic -- and fun, and messy -- experience for my whole family. After we were done, we got to take home our artwork that we had created together.I don't usually like to make a mess, so splatter painting is not an activity that I usually would have sought out myself. But I'm glad that I tried it! Like I said, it was very cathartic and therapeutic. Slinging paint against a wall is a big stress reliever, believe it or not. And my kids, who are used to people telling them not to get messy and throw things, were super excited to get messy and throw things. This was a fun art activity for everyone.The owner of Young at Art, Karla, is a local art teacher, which is really neat. Along with the splatter studio, she also offers art classes and art lessons, as well as canvas painting parties. Karla is very friendly and made us feel at home in her studio during our painting session. If you're looking for a unique art activity for all ages, you need to visit Young at Art and try the splatter studio.
