Whitmer’s Pizza & General Store

I order to go from this place due to the reviews online. First the price is way too high! We basically paid $50 for one large cheese and one large meat lovers. Second- the pizza dough was too much, sauce too sweet! I mean it tasted like Chef Boyaredd! We were so disappointed. This is not pizza at all. What I should of done and is bought a frozen one at Walmart to heat up. I definitely do not recommend for pizza.

Stopped in to get ice cream & found the general store had so much more. My hubby got a strawberry sundae while I ordered a peanut butter cup "blizzard" with chocolate ice cream. After eating our delicious ice cream treats, we looked around the store & decided to get some ham from the deli at a great price. While paying for the ham, I saw several pizzas going out & they smelled good. We had already eaten supper or we would have gotten pizza too. My only complaint was that the service was slow getting ice cream & I had to stand in a line to order the ham & then in another line to pay for it. They have Help Wanted signs up so maybe they're currently short on staff.

Grew up in Winesburg and visited this store almost multiple times a day while living with my grand parents. My grandparents Andy and Barb Wengerd have both passed since then. We used to kick the soda machines on Sunday's and quarters would fall out the bottom of the machine. I was kind of a hellion when I was a kid but they let me get away with quite a bit in their store. If I ever make it back to Ohio I will pay a visit and reimburse for all the candy/gum I stole over the years. Such a great place and piece of history in Winesburg.

They charge $6 delivery fee and the driver doesn't get any of it so still need to tip. Pizza was warm not hot but only delivered a mile. Would not recommend.

Truly a general store. Bulk foods, housewares,and basic foodstuffs. I like to stop for Lacey Swiss and bread to make a sandwich when I'm passing through, but they also have ice cream & pizza if that's what you prefer. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The parking on the main road is a little dicey when you back out, since there's a curve right there, so be careful.

Cute little country store in our local town. Great tasting pizza but the service is a bit slow. Other than that its a great place to grab some awesome tasting pizza!

My boyfriend and I stopped in to see the general store while visiting Amish country, and loved the smell of the pizzas being made in the back of the store so decided to give a try. What a mistake it was to order from here, the dough was undercooked and was way too thick, barely any toppings, and the sauce was sweet 'YUCK", the worst pizza we have ever eaten, and we are pizza people. We've tried pizza at restaurants, stores, gas stations, etc. all over the country and I'll tell you this, I've had frozen pizzas from grocery stores that taste better than at this place. Y'all need to learn how to make pizza up in the north lol " Bless Your Hearts", southern style is way better and so is New York has amazing pIzza too . Also staff in pizza area were not friendly at all, and never explained where and when to pay for your pizza. A girl just rudely handed me a ticket after putting my order in and expected me to figure out what to do next. No smile, have a nice day, perhaps a THANK YOU would have been appropriate, never had been here before since I was visiting for the first time so I did not know how things are run. Won't be back for sure, Eastside Pizza is where we will go next time like where we usually go when visiting Amish country as often as we can.

The outside of the this store/pizzeria is cute and charming, and the inside still has features of a general store of years past. However, there are issues with customer service and the pathetic amount of ice cream my daughter an I received. After we finally flagged down a server, she seemed bothered to take our order and answer questions. Our small cones amounted to one golfball sized scoop atop a hollow wafer cone. Big disappointment considering most ice cream shops in the area have generous serving and waffle cone that are not an up-charge of $3.99. I understand help is difficult to find help and wholesale prices have increased for businesses but for $7.50 for two cones I expect something better.

We were from out of town. Ordered for delivery. Pizza was amazing. Will definitely order again next time we are in town

Ok because it's the only thing around delivery charges are worst then robbery the clocks are all set wrong so foods always late when picking up and no one seems to understand that there so unless your rich and can have it delivered to you which has still been very late or after your lunch break is over I'd suggest bologna sandwiches for lunch over being late written up or fired
