Weldon's Ice Cream Factory

Very cool place. I love the historic interior and the location across from the water. I tried the sweet corn ice cream. The first bite offered the brilliant taste of corn, but after that it was much more subtle. My son had his favorite: vanilla ice cream cone. Friendly service on a Monday afternoon. I hope I get to go back again and try some different flavors!

While visiting Buckeye Lake, I learned that Weldon's Ice Cream Factory is the place to visit. It's an institution, and it has been around since 1930! I'm not a big ice cream person, but I do love sweets, especially a sweets shop with history.I ordered a banana split. Though, it was difficult to decide what to order! This place has a peaceful vibe, but the signage is a little chaotic -- it's like walking up to a Dr. Bronner's bottle. I had to stand there for a bit and read everything while the poor girl behind the counter waited for me to get my bearings. (Luckily I was the only one in the shop at the time.) There are different colored signs everywhere, listing daily specials, new items, and things you can buy that aren't ice cream, like bags of ice and local honey. The banana split was delicious: A perfectly ripe banana split between two scoops of ice cream -- I chose vanilla and chocolate. It's topped with whipped cream, crushed nuts, and a cherry on top. It's one of those desserts where you lose track of time when you eat it, or at least I did. All of my concentration went toward eating that magnificent ice cream concoction as quickly as possible. I decided to shovel it into my face on the big porch, which overlooks the Buckeye Lake canal. There is also seating indoors, too.Weldon's is a must-visit if you're in the Buckeye Lake area!

Good ice cream and great service! They were patient while I took forever to decide. The brownie was extremely rich and the ice cream was great.

Great place for the cozy ice cream parlor experience. Went there for the first time and I am hooked on their ice cream. Lots to choose from and great location. The staff is super friendly and prices are reasonable. Would highly recommend coming down to Millersport and give this place a try.

For so many years, I've driven by Weldon's post sweet corn festival, but always too stuffed to stop by. Well I finally did and I wasn't disappointed! I ordered a scoop of the chocolate fudge brownie and loved it. There were big chunks of brownie throughout. The establishment itself is super cute and old school. There are barstools at the counter to sit. The menu has some fun sundaes, but the prices here are a little higher than the average ice cream shop.

Cool little ice cream shop that takes you back in time. The old booths, jukebox, and bar stools set a nice vibe. They have many different flavors and treats to choose from. Highly recommend.

Feel like you need to treat yourself now that the weather is getting better and you are dying to get outside and out of your mask? Weldon's ice cream has so many delicious choices and outdoor distanced seating. It still has the hometown touch!Still being served by the Weldon generations, and just as good as ever!!!Downfall? If you need to use the restroom you still need to go to an out house. I told the server laughingly that this city girl would go to the bathroom out on the lawn before she would sit in one of those out houses! LOL

Weldon's Ice Cream is the quintessential ice cream parlor.It sits right on the edge of Buckeye Lake, across from the marina, and has been there for generations. They make small batch homemade ice cream according to family recipes, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Owner, David, is a true gem and we always enjoy chatting with him when we head in for a scoop. They close at 10pm in the Summer, and there are always folks stopping in right up until closing.There is a classic barstool setup and a few tiny booths, plus a porch lined with benches for seating. We typically take our ice cream across the street and check out the lake while we devour it.The flavors are rotating, and there are always seasonal options. For the late Summer, there's always sweet corn, and whenever I'm lucky, there's coconut!They make shakes, malts, dipped cones, and even ice cream cakes. I ordered a custom one a few years back with extra chocolate chips and everyone loved it. I also like to grab a bag of chips and a lemonade with my ice cream, too. A trip to Buckeye Lake is never complete without a stop at Weldon's.

This place has been doing business so long they only know how to do it one way! The right way! Prefect, top quality and best tasting way! Any favor, any way, anytime and you can lose! You will love it if you love great ice cream.
