First let me say, if you haven't been to Viva Jalisco, just go. Right now. This is my favorite restaurant in Wellston, hands down. The food is absolutely delicious, the price is right, and there's usually zero wait to be seated! Jalisco is a state in Mexico, and parts of it have a 384 phone prefix just like Wellston :) I'm not sure if Juan was being clever when he named the restaurant , but it's fun trivia anyway! I have tried lots of different dishes here and you really can't go wrong. The Burrito Californiano is a favorite, as well as the Molcajete and the Arroz Con Mariscos. They also make a mean Chile Relleno. And the most important things-the guac, queso, and salsa- are all on point! Their fried ice cream, spopapillas, and flan are perfect to finish your meal. I am going to try the banana chimichanga next. This place basically got me through the early days of the pandemic with their takeout margaritas. Their sweet tea- which is a must-have for the designated driver- is the perfect balance of sweet and strong, and they always keep your glass full. The one drawback is that the service is sometimes slow, but the food is always made to order and super fresh so it's totally worth it. Make sure you bring some change to pick up some gum or a peppermint patty to take with you!

First time there since back in my hometown from Phoenix Arizona which is as you know rich with Mexican food and culture. But for a northeastern or midwestern small town in southern Ohio, this place was above and beyond what you would expect. The food was perfect, the customer service was impeccable, and the layout and decor was so bright, cheery and lively I almost forgot that I wasn't still right next to the border. Amazing place and I highly recommend.

An excellent place to take friends fir a great time. Viva jalisco has a big & beautiful bar. Perfect for GameDay. My friends and I split a margarita pitcher, nice size for 3 or 4. The menu was fantastic with a good mix of options & I preferred the seafood. Everything was very clean & the staff was friendly & attentive! You'll surely enjoy Viva Jalisco!

Been here a few times. Food is delicious. The chili relleno and enchilada are fantastic. Our server wasn't very personable but the food came out hot and our drinks didn't sit empty. Kind of has an odd smell inside but could just be because the building is old. Will definitely be back for round 3.

As others have mentioned, the service is slow. It took several minutes before we were noticed to be seated. They appeared to be more concerned with mopping the floors, than seating us.After we were seated, it took several minutes for us to be recognized to order.Same thing when the food was ready. We heard the order up bell ding five or six times before our waitress finally brought it over.I would hate to experience this slow service during a lunch break. Would have to take annual leave to have enough time to eat.Food was good for a tiny, Ohio town. Equally comparable to quality found in bigger cities.Portions were perfectly sized. We ordered the beef fajitas and a beef salad bowl. The fajitas had zero fat. Also, they were flavorful. Our salad bowl had a massive chunk of fat in it. The Misses was not happy about this.Tables, flooring, and utensils were very clean. A+++ there.Overall, we would come back. Is better than Toro Loco in Jackson, and closer than Athens or Chillicothe. Just plan to have patience before your arrival.

The food is good, but as mentioned in other reviews the wait is a little bit long. If they improved the service, it would be 5 stars. It is a great choice in wellston as long as you are willing to wait.

From hole in the wall to hole in one! From the outside I wasn't sure what to expect. Set back from the main drag a block or so this restaurant has a few shops around it but doesn't call attention to itself.Inside it steps up to a classic decor with decorations, paintings and tons of seating. All of my expectations were met or exceeded. The folks were friendly, the food (dinner time on a random Thursday) was quick and hot. Warm chips and good salsa ahead of time. I'll skip dessert next time but the ice cream was delicious. I had Carne Asada with a lot of meat, onions, beans, rice and a good mix of greens, peppers, guac and cheese / tomatoes. I chatted with the owner as well, just a great friendly guy.I live nowhere close, but if chance brings me back to Wellston I know where I will get my eat on.
