I wish I could give this place zero stars. I had an okay experience when I lived here but when I moved out, the company charged us for bed bug extermination. When I called to inquire (because I have never seen bed bugs in my life), they said "there were thousands" but when I asked for photographic proof I was sent a large number of photos, none of which pictured a bed bug. When I asked for clarification about which picture had the bed bug, I was told "oh wait it was just bed bug poop in the one room" and later on the story changed to "actually it was just one dead bed bug in the one room." I had a bed bug exterminator check out my new apartment (we kept all the same furniture) and he said there was absolutely no trace of bed bugs. Bottom line don't trust Village West. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

So to start out, this is my 4th apartment in 5yrs. I've seen a lot of Columbus from the suburbs to downtown and VW is located right in between those two. Harrison West the neighborhood where VW is located, feels small enough to be friendly and cozy, as well as super close to amazing restaurants such as Katalina's, Cap City Diner and Spinelli's Deli. Now onto the apartment- the most popular style is the two bedroom townhouse. I love that the living space is on the first floor and the sleep/resting space is above. It feels more like a "traditional" home, and when entertaining guests, it is nice to have that divide. The living room has ample space for large wooden furniture, like my armoire, and seating with couches and such. The eating space adjacent to the living room is big enough for a 4 person table easily with comfort. The kitchen, while smaller, is still large enough for cooking, organizing (TONS of cabinet space) as well as baking with my ridiculously large fancy standing mixer. The bedrooms are well sized. Now living alone with my cat, I use the master for myself and the guest bedroom for family and friends visiting. The master is literally HUGE. It is the biggest master bedroom I have had at any of my apartments. I have a queen bed and FOUR huge matching wooden pieces of furniture and they all fit with room to spare and walk around. I literally can't think of how anyone would be able to overfill the room. The guest bedroom, or what I joke as my cat's bedroom, is what I would consider the more traditional apartment sized room. Big enough for a full size bed and minimal furniture. The closet however in that bedroom is so freaking large and extended, the smaller space around the bed is less noticeable and makes for a "cleaner, more minimalistic" room. I have a nice, fenced in patio, which I have two large chairs and a table and grill on, all which fit nicely. I spruced up the flower beds with red bricks I got from Lowe's- you can alter the space within reason. The maintenance crew is super timely and personable- shout out to Kary for always getting things done within the day it was requested. Management has changed, and is much more interactive as well as working on fostering a community which has been great. I feel more connected to the location and apartment because of these changes. The communication from management has also drastically improved even over the last 6 months. I always feel informed about construction happening or improvements being made that may alter my ability to use an amenity for a short period of time. Anything that I would have to say that is a negative:-Upon moving in a light switch cover was missing & I requested it to be fixed and it was within 24hrs-It's a overall younger crowd (20-early 40s) so at times there can be noise coming from the backyard when others are within their patios with friends (the noise is overall minimal but notable)-There is parking on site, though I do think there are more passes than available spaces. This isn't life changing as there is free street parking, but I just wish you had a guaranteed spot. I have said multiple times over again that I'm not sure for the quality, location and price, you can really find a better home in the area :)

I had previously posed a negative review. The issue has since been corrected. I appreciate the Village West parent company for taking things seriously.

I lived at Village West for 4 years before buying a home. You cannot beat the location, I used to walk to the Short North and Arena district all the time, even in the winter! The units are great and the staff is always ready to reply to a maintenance request or inquiry about anything else you might need. I loved my time here and would probably still be there had I not decided to buy a home. Would have given 5 stars except we shared a non-firewall with a unit that never once had neighbors we liked. I know you can't pick your neighbors, but smells and sounds get through the non-firewalls pretty easily and we had 3 different sets of neighbors who either had a major problem with producing loud noises, disturbing odors, or both.

This was an excellent place to live. Truthfully, if the singles were not outside of my price range I would not be leaving.Overall a great experience. Hillary, the property manager, is amazing. Everything gets repaired and addressed quickly and correctly. She's also always available via email--it's great peace of mind. The location is also unbeatable.I would recommend this complex to anyone unless they are unable to parallel park or uncomfortable with street parking since the lot is limited.

I moved in to Village West five years ago and I have been a happy customer the entire time. Location is very important to me, and for the price, the location can't be beat. The apartments opened in the 1970s I believe, so they are a bit dated and not everything is perfect, but they are still cozy and in good condition, and service and maintenance have been great. Repairs have always been handled timely and properly. Management seems to be a bit more personal than some other ginormous apartment complexes around townIn the summer of 2014 my apartment had a plumbing incident which led to a flood. Not the most fortunate occurrence but it was handled with class. Maintenance was here at 2:00 AM vacuuming water, and our entire ceiling and parts of the walls were replaced within a week. We received a couple hundred bucks off the next month's rent for the trouble which we really appreciated. Just the other day we had water under the sink. I sent an email at night and the following afternoon maintenance was checking it out. 24 hours after that we had a new garbage disposal and everything is good.Currently I am planning on moving out in early 2016 and Michael worked with us to get a three month lease together instead of paying month-to-month fees, which I also appreciated. Some of my favorite things about Village West:-Nice, big bedroom-Scalding hot water and good pressure in the shower-Ample parking-Very walkable neighborhood-Rent is low for the neighborhood-Pet friendly-Two story layoutCons:-No laundry in the units-The way the units are designed, some parts of the apartment don't get very much sunlight-Rent has gone up around $50 each year. (That's just the market right now though.)Village West isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but for what it is, they do a very good job running it. It'll be bittersweet to leave because it's become home to me.

Ah, home sweet home. I've lived at Village West for almost 5 years. The rent is competitive, the management is great, and the maintenance is super responsive. I really have no complaints. Sure they aren't the fanciest apartments, but they have a nice amount of space and are incredibly pet friendly. The complex is conveniently located in Harrison West, a short walk from Victorian Village and the Short North. I've recommended friends live here, and will continue to do so myself as long as I'm in Columbus.

Very poor experience after moving out of their apartments. My roommates and I kept the place very clean and never had any bug issues while living there, but after we moved out we are now being charged almost 1000$ for bed bugs and roaches. We never had nor do have bed bug, so they must be lying about that. We also didn't have roaches, but they can appear easy so I'll give them a pass for that. I would suggest these apartments to anyone in Columbus, just be careful when moving out to have someone inspect the place for you.

I really enjoyed the two years that I lived at Village West, it was reasonably priced and managed well by both Hillary and Michael. You could also tell that the owners/management cared about the property with the pool improvement and continuous landscaping and driveway repair/sealing. My only negative comment is that the non-firewall side is extremely thin and we could hear just about everything our neighbors were doing on that side (the other side we didn't hear a peep).Overall I would recommend this place to anyone, we moved out because we needed more space (we were close to signing for a 3rd year).

Great location. Close to giant eagle, CVS, and PNC Bank. Also close to downtown and OSU.Friendly staff. Very quick to fix a maintenance request I had.Convenient layout with the pool and clubhouse more central and parking surrounds the units so it's never a far walk no matter where you park. We were only there for a short-term while we were transitioning from another state and buying a house, but our time there was wonderful. Highly recommend! They always seemed to be doing updates/property maintenance. You can tell the staff really cares about the property.
