As a shopping plaza in a truly 100% residential neighborhood, it definitely meets a need. The opening of Littleton's and Storyline bookshop has brought new life into the place. It still sort of looks like it is stuck in a time capsule, but gets better every year. There is a nice variety of businesses including a pharmacy, a tailor, nail salon, bakery, and several restaurants. You can easily drink coffee, eat a donut and get your errands done all at the same time.

Tremont Center is a great shopping area filled with quite a few local shops and several that retain the history of the area and will give you a real blast from the past! There is a nice large parking area for the center, and there's a great sidewalk allowing you to stroll a bit if you want to check different shops and restaurants out. Highlights include the Goodie Shop (try the popular cinnamon sticks or go for another delicious baked good), the Chef-o-Nette (it apparently has one of the oldest drive thrus in the nation), the Tremont Pharmacy, and the UA Food Market, which is the current rendition of the local grocery store (formerly Huffman's and Tarpy's). There is a classic old clock that is a symbol of the center located in the parking lot. In non-COVID times, they've often hosted wonderful events, such as craft markets, holiday events (a great Christmas one with live reindeer, carriage rides, warm chocolate chip cookies from the Goodie Shop, and visits with Santa Claus!)

Tremont Center is one of my favorite shopping spots around Columbus. It has a neat-o old downtown vibe to it -- complete with lamp post clock. Here are a few reasons why I love this Upper Arlington shopping staple:- Huffman's Market: Who needs Whole Foods when we've got this place!- Shoe and watch repair: What year is this?- That 50-year UA tradition, Chef-O-Nette: I love diners.- Old Bag of Nails: Smithwick's on tap.- Tremont Goodie Shop: Yum.Wind through on Tremont Road and find this place. It's great.

The Tremont Center has shops, but you should really go there for Chef-O-Nette and Old Bag. That's what gets me there.Tremont is located in the twists and turns of Upper Arlington. Its one of those places that if you only go to once, it may take some memory searching as to how to get there again. Especially if you are not a local. Probably just the way they like it. I do like that there is a watch shop there. If I ever have a watch in need of repairing its comforting to know I can go somewhere close. The baseball card shop seems like a nice bit of nostaglia. I often wonder if I can get that same stale pink gum from my youth. The market is nice because it sells liqour. Perfect if you want some hair of the dog after chowing down at Chef. Or if you want to take the party home with you after Old Bag.The Tremont Center lacks a destination store making it worth a drive to UA. But the goodness of Chef-o-Nette and Old Bag will keep this shopping center going for a while. Let me know if anyone ever finds out about that gum...
