The Thirsty Parrot

We were in Circleville for a quilt show and were looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch. Being in a strange town, I do what I always do and checked YELP for recommendations. Based on a number of favorable Yelp reviews, we decided to try The Thirsty Parrot. One review referred to it as Circleville's "secret" and another commented that it's an often forgotten Circleville bar in a crummy part of town. I would say it's a little off the beaten path but not far from the center of downtown.When we arrived, the waitress said we could sit anywhere. Once seated, she was there right away to take drink orders. We were intrigued by one of the appetizers -- Reuben egg rolls - and ordered one to split. This was an interesting twist on a Reuben AND an egg roll and was delicious.For lunch - it seems their "signature" dish is their bourbon chicken which my wife ordered. She said it was excellent. Being a "burger freak", I opted for their cheeseburger which comes in a 1/4#, 1/2# or full 1# version. I opted for the 1/2# version and added a side of fries.The burger was excellent - a definite candidate for my "top 5 burger" list. The "side" of fries ($7) was enormous and was excellent. The fries were the thin fries typical of good pub grub. My wife shared some fries and said they were some of the best fries she'd had.Service was good if a little spotty but there were only 2 waitresses working when we arrived and then one went off-duty leaving 1 to cover the whole restaurant. Despite there being just 1 waitress, she did a pretty good job of covering everyone.

The Thirsty Parrot is an often forgotten about Circleville bar. It's location is pretty crappy. Right next to the tracks. It may be the most local of the local bars. The people are friendly and the drinks are stiff. It sits on Washington Street near some houses. It's right near a railroad track in an industrial area. You can say this bar is on the wrong side of the tracks. But is there a right side? It has a tropical theme. Appropriate for something tropical to drink. I had a tequila sunrise. This is probably about $5 or something like that. I'm not sure how much it was because I didn't have to pay. The couple next to me picked it up since I moved for them. What a generous offer that was.

Circleville's secret. A co-worker told me about this restaurant. It's tucked away in Circleville. It's definitely a local's place to eat and converse with friends. Pulling up after dark I was a bit concerned but then saw a couple my age walk into the restaurant. Once inside I was surprised. There were quite a few people and even someone we know. This has to be the cleanest restaurant I have eaten in quite some time. I ordered the bourbon chicken and wow! Really good. Our waiter asked me if I would like the onions on the side and surprisingly onion was really good sprinkled on top. It comes in a plastic container that you can take home which is good because it's so much food. It comes in a small size for $8 and a large size for $12 or $14 (I forget). I got the large size and have made 3 meals out of it. My husband got the burger and a side of fries. He said the burger was really good. The fries are definitely made at the restaurant with fresh potatoes. They are thin strips and the portion is HUGE. The only disappointment is that there is no beer on draft. But they do have bottled beer and mixed drinks. Overall: Very Clean, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff and Delicious Food.

Best bourbon chicken anywhere. Wish they were open more days of the week and earlier for lunch.

Not open... we drove 40 minutes to go here and called but no answer. If they are closed for good please take this business off Yelp.

I LOVE THE THIRSTY PAROT!!! If you are in the mood for bourbon chicken and it's not Pumpkin Show time than this is where you need to be! Absolutely delicious. They also have an amazing burger. The owners and the people that work there are so nice

Tried the Thirsty Parrot for the first time last night. Ordered the Healthy Plate with Chicken. Oh my, this dish was the bomb!!! Plan to go back soon and try another one of their famous dishes!

HOME OF THE BEST BURBON CHICKEN! Stop into thirsty parrot and get your fixins! The staff are excellent, the environment is clean and sanitized, and the food is to die for!

Bourbon chicken, bourbon chicken, bourbon chicken! Outstanding! We Also love the Reuben egg rolls, the fries and the burgers.

We have been using their carry out during the COVID program. We really like their Healthy Plate with chicken. We call , place order and they bring it to your car. Delicious!
