The Rutherford Cafe

Very cool place...We noticed this sandwich shop the other day and decided to try them out. The decor is nice - not fancy but it does not scream chain either. It is comfortable. The staff was fantastic and super friendly. The prices were good for the quality of the food. They serve Coke products. I had their Ruthaford sandwich which is their version of a Ruben which I really enjoyed. Wifie had a salad which was good. I think this place is worthy of a visit.

We stopped on a road trip and honestly we were blown away by the absolute deliciousness of the food! I got the half Rutherford on sourdough and it was perfect!!! The Pastrami was delicious (and it's my fave) and had incredible sauce. My husband got the chicken pesto and it was also amazing. Great choice of drinks and chips. Fast friendly service. Cute historic downtown. You won't be disappointed

Not my normal fare but when in Delaware go to the cafe that has the local boys name on it (19th President Rutherford B. Hayes was born right next to the cafe). It was a walk up counter, self serve coffee. Mostly breakfast sandwiches (I love going out for breakfast, never get a sandwich). I had a meat lovers sammy. Bacon, ham and sausage with cheese and egg on a bagel. The sausage was chunks cut from a Polish or Italian sausage, not breakfast sausage.

All you're missing in life is the Smokey Sandusky sandwich! My daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese while the adults put away three Smokey Sandusky sandwiches! Enjoyed every bite. If you haven't had Lebanon bologna before this would be a whole new experience. We love to buy it in Amish country to use on charcuterie boards at home. The horseradish pickles don't taste much like horseradish, they are just so good. The cafe is small so you might have to wait for a seat, but it's Order-at-the-counter fare!

Neat shop with very good food. Has a historical sign just down from the front door that informs you about the youth of Rutherford B Hayes and his home.

I had the Smokey Sandusky sandwich. It was great and I can't wait to try more of the sandwiches because of their unique ingredients/combinations.

Great new breakfast and coffee place. Beautiful bagel sandwiches that I love to eat. Be sure to try this place out. Friendly staff and fresh made breakfast and coffees.

I ordered lunch today for pick up from the Rutherford Cafe. I had trouble ordering online (tried both with my phone and computer) so I called in. The person on the phone was upbeat and friendly, made calling in easy!Paying and pick up was quick and easy! Staff was friendly and the food was great!I ordered the sweet heat chicken sandwich (melted). It was so good, flavorful, and packed full of goodies! My coworker ordered the turkey reuben, she said it was great. Unfortunately, no pics but I would definitely order from them again.

I came here to try the Italian Hero sandwich based on an article recommendation that I saw in the Cityscene magazine. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was very nice and welcoming ambiance although I took my sandwich to go. The sandwich was very tasty. I think next time I would either eat it in there or ask for the sauce on the side because it made the bread a little soggy by the time I got home with it. They also offer a variety of chips and drinks- I had the Peach Ice Tea from Harney & Sons. I would definitely recommend this place and come back to try other things on the menu.

Terrible. Brown avocado on un toasted bread, microwave eggs??? Really. Not recommended at all.
