I was excited when Groupon offered a coupon for discounted admission to The Haunt. The description on The Haunt website describes a great adventure consisting of three components: a haunted house, a 5 acre corn maze, and a haunted forest. Sounded great, but the description was FAR from reality. First of all, the order of events was not as described. The website says you go through the house, then to the corn maze, then through the woods. We actually started off in the maze, then went through the woods, and ended in the house. The maze was nothing like I would have imagined. The corn was dead stalks that were mashed down into slightly convoluted pathways. The only mystery involved was trying to figure out which mashed down sections were actually paths and which were just areas that had been smashed by passersby and "actors." Figuring it out was made difficult by the godawful glaring spotlight that was positively BLINDING and unpleasant. We were told to follow the lights on the ground leading through the "haunted forest." Problem was that the lights were blinding, which was especially bad, given the dangers of holes and dropoffs throughout. My husband nearly fell into a large hole, inside which a "monster" was lurking in wait. To top it off, the light path we were supposed to follow would suddenly disappear, leaving us without a clue as to where to go. The "haunted house" was the absolute lamest thing I have EVER seen. We entered the house through the basement, then went up the stairs, through the bathroom, and then out. There was nothing at all scary about anything in this house and it was a very short path. The scariest part was navigating the downhill path to the basement in the dark. Very dangerous. Unlike other haunted houses I have been to, this one had no special effects or animatronics. Furthermore, the actors were nearly all 7 year olds in skull masks and the make up job on those wearing it was really bad. I also take issue with the fact that REAL dead animals were used. I am disturbed by the fact that dead rabbits, who appear to have been killed unnecessarily just for the purpose of this event, were displayed and touched by unwitting patrons. There was also a real hog head. This is problematic because it is unsanitary. People touch these things accidentally and can pick up bacteria that they can then transfer elsewhere. Overall, this "haunted" exhibit was very amateurish, boring, unscary, and actually dangerous, due to the lack of visibility in treacherous terrain. It was definitely not worth the time, but had I not had less than 1/2 price admission, I would be thoroughly pissed!

Went last year. Lots of family fun for 10 & up! Three fun haunting areas, a bonfire and wagon ride back to the parking area, with small concessions available. Definitely spooky and fun. If you are looking for serious gore, maybe not your style. But if you are looking for a creepy, fun time~the cost is reasonable, & the proceeds go to charity. A win in my family's eyes!

If you're looking for a great time with the family, this is the place to go. I saw the deal on living social and purchased 4 tickets at a special price. I must say, I was a little skeptical just because I've never heard of it before. But I did like the fact that 100% of the profits went to different activities that kids would be doing. My husband and myself, along with our 9 and 16 year old girls ventured out last night. I became a little more worried when we pulled into the parking lot and it was practically empty. They have FREE parking!!!!! If you go to a lot of haunted attractions like we do, then you know that you can usually expect to pay anywhere from $5-$10 per car, so this was a bonus in our eyes. We walked down the short trail and were quickly greeted, where we were given our choice of glow bracelets for free (red) if you don't want to be scared that much, or (green) if you want to be scared a lot. We walked away with three greens and one red. Please keep in mind when reading this review... All of the people working there are volunteers, they are doing this to raise money. You can not group this attraction with some of the others that do it for profit. If you are looking to be completely scared and have your little ones cry... this probably isn't the right attraction for you. If you are looking to have an amazing time where you can take your family ... I would highly recommend this one. The first was a 5 acre corn maze. This was creepy. All in the dark with very little lighting added to the creepiness. People jumping out at you, noises all around you, figures lurking in the background. I actually liked the fact that there wasn't a set trail to follow. It was more of an adventure that way... getting lost in the corn and scared at the same time?? Who wouldn't like that. This was the first haunted attraction that my 9 year old has ever been to. Needless to say, she was a little afraid within the first 5 minutes. I loved the idea with the bracelets. Whenever she got scared, she just lifted her arm in the air and they all stayed away from her. I loved the corn maze. When we finally made it out of the maze (after getting lost quite a few times) we walked down a trail to the next area. We had to wait just for a few minutes until they were ready and they had a fire there that we could get warmed up by. The next part was a 4,000 foot haunted trail. This was by far the best part (at least it was my favorite). I'm not going to lie... I was absolutely scared through most of this. I think just because it's out in the woods and there isn't much lighting... but mainly because of all the different actors they had. There were so many. Every time I turned around there was another one breathing down my neck. They do have a lot of kids working there... but I think that made it even better. Kids are smaller, they can hide in smaller spaces. You look in one direction and get scared in three other directions. If I wasn't getting scared, then I was laughing at the rest of my family for screaming. It was so dark when we went, but the do have some lighting that adds to the effect. The lights do go on and off and with it being that dark, you really can't see for a few seconds... all of us loved it. You do get kind of lost when the trail lights go out... that's the cool part though. Oh yeah... They do use a trail of hog heads to lead the path. :) Last up was the house. There was a short walk up to the house and on the trip up, there was fencing on either side of you that progressively closed in on you. The whole time there was someone telling us about the house and all of the snakes that lived in it. As we were paying attention to him, we would get scared from both sides. The house was the shortest part of the attraction. You walk up through the basement, getting touched by people you can't see, and head up the stairs. The house was not as scary as I had hoped for, but still not bad by any means. After the house, there's a short trail to a bonfire where you wait for the hay wagon to come and pick you up. They have a little concession stand set up, but we didn't know that's what it was until we were ready to leave. We actually thought it was a little break area for all the people working there. If anything needed to be changed, that would have been it. I think we waited about 10 minutes for the wagon to pick us up. If we would have known it was a concession stand, we definitely would have spent more money. We all enjoyed the short hay ride back to our cars. Everyone was very friendly. The parking lot was monitored and very well lit. They even had a sheriff there for added safety.

We bought this on Groupon and were a little worried after reading the only 2 reviews on here. My husband and I went with another couple to check it out this past Saturday. We drove up from Columbus and it was well worth the drive. We put on our green bracelets and buddy did they let us have it. It took about a half hour to get through it and we had a blast. It is outside and of course there are chances for twisted ankles running in the dark but that is part of the thrill as far as we are concerned. It is for a great cause and is worked by the kids and parents trying to earn money for their D.C. trip. We loved it and will be back next year for sure.

I have gone to many Haunted Houses throughout the years. The Haunt is a great attraction that offers three different scares. It is plenty scary for those that are looking for that. Also, it is pretty family friendly as the actors seem to understand what is appropriate and what is not. It was great last year and is just as fresh this year! Does not disappoint!
