Visited Subourbon for the first time and we had a very pleasant time, the service was excellent and wait staff was super friendly. We came during happy hour so our cocktails and appetizer were each $7. The KFC bites were pleasantly light, with a fine breading and delicious soy chili sauce - but it was not spicy at all. For the entrees we had the hot chicken sandwich with collard greens, and local mushroom pasta. We both ate every bite and were satisfied! The curry crema was really flavorful over the pasta and again not spicy at all. Definitely a unique dish that I haven't had anywhere else, and the flavors worked together nicely. My husband enjoyed the hot chicken sandwich and collard greens, but wished he had a dipping sauce for the sandwich so would order a side of ranch next time with it.I will definitely come back for another visit especially during happy hour! I think visiting in warm weather would be better, as they had a large patio space that is unusable in January and even seated inside I noticed heaters were necessary to keep the cold out.

This has been on our list for quite a while since they have a HUGE bourbon selection. Everyone should be able to find something they enjoy here. They offered a barrel pick which was really nice. Their happy hour menu is good with $7 cocktails and some appetizers as well. The chopped salad, Gumbo, smothered chicken and deviled eggs were all delicious. We really enjoyed the chicken corn chowder and the key lime pie, so so good! Lily was a wonderful server and would definitely recommend this location even if you're not a bourbon fan.

Some old friends of mine were getting together to have a drink and possibly dinner after not seeing each other for a very long time. We did not have a reservation so we just sat at the bar. Two other friends arrived and we asked if we could sit at one of the empty six-top tables right by the bar since a party of six can get pretty awkward lined up at the bar. The people on the ends typically have to lean in and strain to participate in conversation... or the group just splits in two. We asked a gentleman who worked there if that would be o.k. he informed us that he would have to confirm whether or not they were reserved. That is completely understandable. The hostess confirmed that they were reserved. Two hours went by, we had our drinks and enjoyed our reunion when one member of our party noticed that no one was ever seated at either of the six-top tables. I don't know what kind of V.I.P. guest they were expecting but they didn't show up and several of our party left feeling pretty negatively about the experience. I would assume that if you reserve a table at a restaurant, that reservation would not guarantee a table the entire night until you feel like showing up. Or... if the table is reserved for a specific time that is more than two hours in the future, the hostels could have entertained our request by saying something like "the party that reserved the table will be here at "whatever time" so you would have to vacate prior to that time in order for us to clean and freshen the table.... But no.... They got no business from those two tables and will get no business from me in the future.

Dishes ranged from "excellent" to "just okay" - I would certainly give this restaurant a try if you are in the area.First off, the drinks. Husband got a Baked Apple Old Fashioned, while I got a NA cocktail that doesn't seem to be found online so I can't remember the name but had Orgeat in it. First off, LOVE that they have a couple NA cocktails, always great to see. Both our drinks were similar: very strong and pretty gross upon first sip. But 15 minutes later when both had a chance to settle, they were really tasty. The Old Fashioned got sweeter, mine stopped punching me in the face with almond taste. So give it a couple minutes before diving into your drink.Apps - deviled eggs and KFC bites. Man I wanted to like the eggs. I LOVE deviled eggs. But these were very, very tart - even as someone who likes an egg on the tangy side - and just had too much going on. The KFC bites were tasty, but unremarkable. The entrees are where this place shines. The local mushroom pasta is phenomenal with noodles perfectly done, just this side of al dente. The country fried chicken was nice and crispy and the Brussels were exceptional. The mac and cheese side was nice too, although I don't love cavatappi noodles with mac, but still enjoyable.Service was friendly and managers were roaming around to help out. That said, if you want to go on a Friday night or weekend...make a reservation. We did not and so got sat in the bar area (where the host stand is) and it was so loud I physically recoiled a few times. Having a drunk 6-top next to us didn't help, but the small space really amplifies the noise.

It can be hard to judge a restaurant by a Restaurant Week menu alone. I understand they are feeding the masses at a discounted price point. That said, it did not feel like Subourbon brought their "A" game to the food. Everything tasted like it had no seasoning at all, and so very little flavor. The meatloaf was fine but nothing special. Green beans were hard and undercooked. I was so looking forward to the peanut butter pie dessert, but only ate one bite. It was a total sugar bomb and you could barely taste any peanut butter. This honestly warranted a 2 star review for the food, but the staff was awesome and our takeout order was both ready on time and well packaged.

Great food and whiskey selection! We started with cornbread and fried green tomatoes. Cornbread was delicious! Fried green tomatoes had good flavor but may have been a little undercooked. I had the special of the night which was tuna over grits and brussel sprouts. The tuna was cooked perfectly, the Brussels were crispy, and the grits were cheesy. Over all, it was really good. My husband got the pork shank. Overall, it was good, but mashed potatoes could have used a little less salt. We got a couple whiskey drinks that didn't disappoint! We ordered the Oreo bread pudding for dessert. It was good, but not amazing. The prices for everything was very reasonable. Our waitress was super friendly as well! We'll be back to try some other things off the menu that sounded good!!

We had an amazing time at Subourbon last evening. The host, Stephanie was very accommodating and extremely friendly. We were seated promptly. Heather was our server and I believe one of the best customer service employee we have ever had. She was full of personality. We arrived at happy hour and they were running a Wednesday whiskey special on Monday. The four of us shared most of the happy hour appetizers and all were delicious. The drinks came out perfectly as requested. After the appetizers were enjoyed we ordered 3 entrees to be shared. The fried chicken, braised short ribs and shrimp and grits were absolutely devoured by us in a timely manner. The dinning room is rustic and provide a quiet enjoyable dinner for conversation and dinner. When we return to Columbus from San Diego, the Subourbon will be our new favorite restaurant. We had wonderful service, delicious food and a wonderful evening!

A surprising find!My buddy and I have been trying to meet up more often and enjoy bourbon, so have been going to a bar. However, when our schedules aligned on a Monday, we needed to find a new place as the usual haunt was closed.Google had me stumble upon Subourbon and I'm glad that it did. While the location initially had me a bit wary, entering the establishment had a more upscale feel than I was expecting. It's not an opulent Michelin starred restaurant, but very nice for the bourbon forward bar that it is.Service was prompt and friendly, giving us plenty of space to catch up. The bourbon selection was quite plentiful and with some of their specials, I know we'll be coming back.Probably the most surprising was the quality of food that comes out of the kitchen. I had their shrimp and grits and appreciated the presentation and removal of the tails for eating. We also got a few appetizers that were great!Bottom line - I'll be returning to Subourbon for their Thursday whiskey flights. It's definitely worth a stop and punches above its weight class for the area.

Love this place and am happy they aren't far from home. We came for Restaurant Week on Friday night in time for Happy Hour. We sat at the bar and our bartender was amazing. Friendly and speedy. I had a cocktail to start, with Fried Green Tomatoes. Yum. A nice glass of Malbec went well with my three courses: Hush Puppies with honey pecan butter, Voodoo Pasta with added shrimp, and a slice of Sweet Potato Pie. They outdid themselves. It's become one of my favorite restaurants now.

Enjoyed my evening at Subourbon! They have a great list of drinks and food to choose from. The blackened catfish was excellent.
