This a a fantastic little venue in a small southeast Ohio town. It is well restored and maintained. The acoustics are phenomenal and it has a true intimate feel that lends itself to performers being able to establish a great rapport with the audience. On the first floor there is a great open lobby space with a smallish bar. This lends itself to facilitating conversations with other attendees - and my experience was that everyone who takes the time to come to the Opera House gets a similar vibe.I would encourage anyone contemplating a visit to take a look at the cast of performers who have appeared here. It is really quite a list. If you want to see some great, talented performers in a unique setting look no further - this is it.

Came here for Southern Culture on the Skids, not sure what the venue would be like. Walking down the street, the whole front of the building is under construction and there were closed signs- uh oh, do we have the right place? The right date? But walk around to the side door, and yep, it's open. Once inside you go up some big stairs (not sure how handicap access works) and out into a small, beautiful old theater. Maybe 300 or so seats, but it feels like a private theater, or something like the Austin City Limits set where things are very intimate. Seats are old-school but comfy, and the sections are spread out so you can walk between them easily. The place has been restored and updated, and acoustics are amazing. The views are great, even from back by the merch tables. Staff were super friendly and helpful. It is a nonprofit, and the love shows. Prices are reasonable, and frankly underpriced- there are so few seats, and it is such a cool place, that I hope they are making enough. Nice bathrooms, a good bar in the back. Plentiful street parking. Renovations should be done in 2017, and I'm sure the front of the house will be nice. Can't wait to go back.

We attended a play here a few years ago and loved it. Love the history and the architecture. It has plenty of space for events and has lots of character.

This place is amazing! I am a student at Nelsonville York and I have worked very closely with Stuarts on several occasions! They are very professional and welcoming. They host several things that get kids involved. I personally have been involved in plays and Poetry Out Loud. Amazing place, amazing people!

As a wedding venue, beautiful setting for our daughter's wedding reception in their large, recently renovated event room. Beautiful arched windows. Gorgeous new bar. A fantastic setting on the quaint square in Nelsonville. Excellent service by their special event guy, Brent, who did everything we needed done. All in all, a great experience. I highly recommend this venue for your special occasion.

Really did not know what to expect - Went to college in town - have driven through way to many times - finally had a show - comedy - my wife bought tickets for. Really a wonderful little venue. Show was great and will be back again. Great that the area has this to offer.

Yo la Tengo intermission right now. Fantastic acoustics. Great sight lines from the balcony. Very happy I drove 60 miles each way to see one of my all time favorite bands I've loved since college radio dj days back in the mid-80's. A highly recommended live music venue! The audience is quiet, no talking, and bonus points for no bright iPhone screens. It's like everyone grew up and came to this show!

This is a beautifully renovated opera house. We went for the Ohio State Fiddle Competition and there wasn't a bad seat in the house. We were up in the balcony and it was nice cool up there. The acoustics were great. I'd go back to see another show there anytime.
