Sonny Boy Restaurant

First of all, if you've eaten at this diner two or more years ago, ignore all reviews posted before then. They were true -- bad service, dirty worn out dirty diner, and awful food. We last ate here in 2020 based on someone else's recommendation. Awful. Just awful. We had not planned on coming back, ever. Then we saw a new tv ad for Sonny Boy's with a new menu. Looked a LOT better than it had. Plus they offered 50% off for a $25 certificate. Why not? Things have changed, mostly.The diner still has that "the 70's called and they want their diner back" motif, but at least it's a lot cleaner than it was two years ago and doesn't stink of cigarette smoke. My wife had the stuffed chicken breast with corn and double-baked potato. The chicken was great but the corn was a little cold.I had the Reuben Melt (picture posted) and onion rings. Two years ago, the melt was cold, had tasteless corned beef, no swiss, wimpy sauerkraut, and no dressing. This time everything was perfect. Warm sandwich, great corned beef, plentiful sauerkraut and dressing. And the onion rings...fantastic. They weren't whole rings but minced onion but still, wonderfully done.The only negative was the service. It was slow. I think the waitress was trying her best, but some people can wait tables...some can't. If I were giving stars based on the local area (which is a foodie's worst nightmare), it would have been five. But most of these reviews are for folks out of town, visiting, or passing through. It's still a solid four. Had the restaurant had a complete remodel and the service been better, I'd feel more like a five. But it it what it is.I was told the guy who owns the used car lot next door bought it about 1-2 years ago. For someone who sells used cars, Sonny Boy's is a modern miracle. He deserves a pat on the back and a hearty atta-boy!!

Was 6 and a baby in our party. I happened to see in the fine print that a 20% gratuity will be added to bill of 5 or more. That isn't a problem for a nice establishment which isn't what this place is. Like other reviews, dated with 70's vibe. My meal was breakfast with hash browns which were fried to a crisp. I told the server they weee nasty and asked for Home fries instead., which I finally got after my eggs were cold. Service wasn't that great, adequate I would say. When the bill came what a surprise, 121.00 which included the 20% gratuity with another 5% for use of a debit card. I mentioned it and they said those card companies want their money to which I said is usually 3%. Anyway I was truthful with her that it was my first time there and will definitely be my last.

This place is a diner...the service, food, and atmosphere were good. The price for the food and specials were great. If you are looking for a diner, this is the place to go. We got a turkey special and breakfast..it was good and fast!

Very nice servers - the food just basic - tasted extra normal - I wouldn't recommend- im sure you can find better

This place is fantastic! You might feel like you stepped back in time when you walk through the door. There isn't to many places like this left. It has an old school diner vibe and the prices are incredible. We had a party of 4 and our bill was only $35. Our waitress was superb! She was an older lady and I was just amazed at how well she did her job. She was moving around that place and carrying out trays of food like it was nobody's business. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns. I'm pretty sure this was the best biscuits and gravy I've had, and trust me I've tried many. The hash browns were really good too. You can tell that they're freshly made. I don't have one complaint about this place and will definitely be back. I would love to give their lunch menu a try next!

Last cheap little diner around. Quick and usual suspects here, been doing it for decades

The food was terrible and cold. I also found a hair in my soup and as well as my main meal. The waiter was hardly at the table and had to wait for ever for the bill.

It's a diner! Broad menu, home style cooking -- the servers even called me "Hun". The decor shows it's age, but who cares! I loved the experience.

They crapped in my burger send help please I think I have rabies now. The ambiance is horrible, smell like wet dog.

I've been eating at Sonny Boys for 40 years.Like all restaurants in the area, their prices more than doubled once the oil&gas workers moved in but it's still quality food at a reasonable price.Service is fast and food comes out hot and accurate.
