My wife and I stopped in for a tasting on a Saturday evening. We had the kids in tow since we were on our way home from a family day in Hocking Hills. That worked out okay, because our tasting was done outside on the patio and the kids kept busy. I really appreciated the nice touch from the winemaker/owner of giving our kids some goldfish to snack on- their favorite! This allowed us adults to taste all of Slate Run's wines, and also learn about the grapes, the process, and even the property. The winemaker/owner is very knowledgeable and is willing to share. I felt educated, but not overwhelmed. We went through the tasting in a timely manner, not too fast, not too slow. We had no intention of staying afterward, since we walked in less than an hour before closing time.Once our tasting was done, my wife and I decided on three wines to take home. His wines are unique in comparison to most of the central Ohio wineries- we've been to almost every one. I can drink all types of wines, my wife is only into dry reds. She was not crazy about the dry reds, so she let me pick and I went with three wines on the sweeter side. There is not much to the space inside of the building, but especially on a nice day, there are a few tables out on his patio to either do a tasting or drink a bottle. I love that we were able to take home a logo'd class with our tasting. Nice souvenir! I would stop back by next time I'm in the area to get some of the wines we enjoyed on that day.

Amazing!! Met the owner, he is super sweet!! This reminds me of my times in Italy, very at home wine with a twist. Most of the grapes are French which is a rare taste in Ohio, most want to grow Rhine grapes. If you have time get out there and buy! It extremely intimate and not a place for large groups. The owner has a major passion for what he does. I very much enjoyed my time there and will totally go back.

Excellent wine tasting experience! It a small venue that is perfect for testing the wine and making a decision regarding what you want to purchase. Keith, the owner, was a delight and listened to our taste preferences and feedback giving each of us a different tasting experience. As we finished up tasting our wines I was unsure of which of two wines I preferred and he offered another taste of each. Prices for wine and others items were very reasonable.I strive to support small businesses whenever possible and was thrilled to support a small business on Small Business Saturday. The owner personally providing excellent service was a plus!

I was surprised to learn that there was a vinyard and winery right down the street from me so I had to go visit! My mother and I went and the man who was there was very friendly and offered us samples of the wines they carried. We picked out a red and a white which were both quite good. We then asked him if we could walk around the grounds. He warned us that it was a working farm but by all means we could wander amongst the vines. It was a nice trip and I would like to spend more time there sometime.

I decided to try Slate Run with a friend who absolutely loved it the first time she visited. I think we caught them at a bad time, though, because when I asked them to tell me a little about their vineyard the owner basically said, "I just grow grapes," and wasn't very forthcoming when describing their wine. For a small, out-of-the way place, I guess I expected it to be a little more homey. My friend said that they're usually more excited to chat and offer samples, so I'll definitely be back to give Slate Run a second chance, but otherwise I wouldn't jump to recommend this particular vineyard to a friend. The wine, however, is a-okay, local made, and moderately priced (bottles run from $8-$15), so that's a plus!

You don't find many estate-style wineries in central Ohio. Seems like buying juice is a bit of a cop out. Keith grows his own grapes and turns out very nice wines for the money. The tasting room could be a little more conducive to socializing, but it's definitely worth stop to pick up local wine from grapes grown right here.

This business was quite interesting and the scenery is beautiful. I was excited to visit and try some wines because I've heard such great things about this place. To my surprise, the owner, Keith, was unfriendly and didn't want to converse with me. When I asked him questions about the wine or how he started his business, he would respond with one worded answers. My acquaintances who have frequented the business said he was friendly, so I was taken back. On top of that, I saw him being very customer service oriented to a group of people in the establishment. I'm not sure why he was treating me with the complete opposite type of attitude. When I complained about this to a few locals, I was told that he treated me this way because I must be left winged (politically). I was in disbelief! First, I'm not left wing and second, even if I was, I'm still a customer and he should have treated me with patience, respect and professionalism.I don't think I'll be giving this place another try. I wish them the best with their future endeavors.

Worst experience I have ever had at a winery. I visited this place a few months ago and the staff member, Keith, was very unfriendly. He acted as if he was in a hurry to get me out of there and didn't want to waste anytime with me. I told him that I was looking for a sweeter wine. He continued to pour a couple of samples within a 1 minute time frame and didn't even give me a chance to actually taste the wine. I felt rushed and because of that I opted not to buy anything from him. I still cannot understand why he treated me this way.I would not recommend this place to others..
