Skinny's Tavern

First time at Skinny's, was in town to pick up a wedding dress. The serve bartender we had was nice but very slow and couldn't answer all of our questions. The food we got was not all that great, quality was 3/5. Not sure I would go back here

Wow, a little hole in the wall with wonderful friendly service, GREAT burgers and delicious pork tenderloin sandwiches. If you're in the area, a must stop!

The waitress smiled but was missing teeth. Not a classy joint. My salad was huge but had chunks of white lettuce, and I had asked about the freshness of the lettuce! I miss Basils so much!

No idea how old this place is, but it IS old. Maybe a farmhouse once-upon-a-time, but now a sort of family roadhouse place, with something for everyone.Seems like everything where is homemade. Had a grilled cheese & tomato bisque. What can go wrong with grilled cheese, but the soup was REALLY good - especially in a roadhouse sort of in the outskirts of a small Ohio town!Since their lies are also homemade I made an exception & had a slice for dessert. My sweet server put on a fresh pot of coffee for me to go with the coconut cream pie that came encased in a clamshell. She whisked back to say she'd get me a bigger piece, which she did & delivered the larger piece on a real plate!! Delish.I'd come back if I was ever in the area again. A great spot in every way!!

There aren't a lot of restaurant options in Kenton. This is the only place my Grandma will go out to eat in Kenton, so we came here for dinner when we were visiting her. I was impressed by how nice it is inside. It's definitely not a hole in the wall type of place like what you might expect. We got the Spicy Cheese Curds, Hawaiian Burger, Fried Bologna Sandwich with fries, Vegetable Soup, Blueberry Pie, and Cherry Cheesecake Pie. Everything was pretty good. My favorites were the Spicy Cheese Curds, Hawaiian Burger, Fried Bologna Sandwich, and the Cherry Cheesecake Pie. Unfortunately, we asked for the burger to be cooked rare and it came well done, but it was still good.The prices are incredibly reasonable. I don't remember the last time I spent so little going out to eat. If you find yourself in town, this is a good place to get a meal.

What a gem. Rustic seating in an 1880's house with wooden booths. We were in a hurry and our waitress recommended quick things. Quiet due to being lunchtime We had great fried baloney sandwich, the nice crispy Big T tenderloin sandwich with recommended mustard when I drew a blank about what I wanted. The coleslaw was excellent. My Diet Pepsi was served in a mason jar. Coffee was refilled. The to-go container was sustainable cardboard. Our efficient waitress was very charming and even suggested a name for our new puppies. We loved talking about baloney sandwiches past with a woman at a neighboring table.

Looking for an awesome burger, this is the place. Homemade soups are great also. Definitely gets you full and satisfied.

Taco Salad Tuesday was very good. The salad is huge so go hungry! It was very flavorful, fresh & yummy! Service is always great! If you like down home good food & homemade pies, you will be happy!

A drive from Port Clinton to the Dayton area is a bit of a schlep, so I had to find a good lunch stop along the way, and appeal to my wife's love of a great hamburger.Skinny's exceeded expectations. Not only did they have an exceptional assortment of burgers (juicy and filling), but they also surprised us with a great pork tenderloin.PT's are a regional favorite in Illinois and Missouri, and pretty rare east of Indiana.They're known for looking like a flattened piece of fried chicken with a bun that barely covers half the meat. This had a great taste, and the breading was not overcooked as it is deeper into the Midwest.Ordered two pieces of pie to go (rhubarb and coconut cream). Unless you hear otherwise, I expect they'll be a standout given their size and appearance.Skinny's looks like a rough roadhouse from its exterior, but is a convivial family hangout inside. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient. A pro.The French fries were also exceptional, though the coleslaw was just average (little more vinegar, please).Maybe that makes this a 4.8, but the humorous wall signs brought it back up up to 5 ("Many have dined here. Few have died.").Lot of good menu items, but this was the real deal for a burger fix.

I haven't been back to Skinny's in a long time. I used to live in Kenton and my brother-in-law took me here. We got waited on pretty quickly with a smile because he was the "local" guy. I went back on my own a couple of weeks later, and I thought I was in the wrong place. No smiles, had to wait a long time to get waited on, food wasn't that great. I asked my BIL what happened and he said "you have to be known by the wait staff before you get good service". It appears new ownership is in place, which I'm happy to see, and if an when I get back to Kenton (other than a funeral) I might swing by to give it another try. That's the bad thing about Kenton... you have to live there at least 10 years before you can get decent service.
