Shane's offers a great in-house menu selection and catering. My experience was through a catered event, so I can't speak to the restaurant. They brought us a variety of goods:-Flavorful chicken and beef skewers with bell peppers. These were marinated just right and were very juicy. -A vegetabley pasta salad that was spicy. -A fresh salad of mixed greens.Everyone I talked to said the setup was great. I wouldn't hesitate to use Shane's for my next catered event. I also hope to visit the dining room soon.

My father works in fancy foods so ironically when times were tough growing up we made do with 'samples' from the stash in the basement of caviar, pate, baby corn, cous-cous, cornish hens, capers, truffles, and belgian chocolates. It was tough. Seriously, that stuff is scary when you are 8 years old.So if you are going to call yourself gourmet you should probably have a decent selection of fancy foods in the store or at least use them in your dishes. They often have cous-cous salads but the grade is mediocre at $7.99 a pound I'd think they'd try a bit harder. The wine and beer selections are noteworthy, including the mix of six beer for $9.99 although you are limited to common brews, mostly lagers. Today it was heineken, red stripe, and bud. Not terribly exciting. But cool if you want a selection for a small dinner party or something.I had the black bean and corn salad and the grilled vegetables..nothing you couldn't do at home with a good bottle of olive oil. The bean salad was a little dry and could have used some balsamic vinegar. Still, this was ten times better than any of the salads at katzinger's or brown bag. That said I would return to check out the daily soups and salads but I wouldn't make it a regular stop for lunch as it is difficult to spend less than $10 for a meal.

I was a novice at having a catered event. Shane's Gourmet was recommended to me by other cooks and chefs in town for my husband's 60th birthday party. My goal was to have an event that was casually elegant. I used Shane's for part of my catering and provided other things myself, but when the event began, the staff from Shane's put it all together seamlessly as if the entire event was their's. There were a few hiccups with some misunderstandings, but Mandy and Melissa were amazing and made it so that any issues were invisible to my guests. Moreover, they allowed me to be a guest at my own party and the party came off EXACTLY as I had envisioned. I wouldn't hesitate to use Shane's again and would certainly ask for Mandy and Melissa as servers again.Thank you Shane'sand especially Mandy and Melissa!

I've had better $7 sandwiches in nicer places. The food I received was good, but it didn't seem valuable for the money. Shane's has a good cheese selection and ok beverage selection. Their fresh daily counter of various salads and food things are the highlight of the store.Parking is tight during lunch time, but seeing as it's within easy distance of downtown, it's a good place to check out at least once.
