Got my first chance to play there yesterday. The course was beautiful and the amenities (course wise) were excellent. The only true issue I saw with the course was the greens had a ton of spike marks and ball marks which the players should take care of fixing when they arrive and leave the green. I, being a fan of beautiful courses, always look to repair my ball mark and found myself repairing 3/4 more every hole which is sad but not a big deal. However it was still a fantastic day and experience. The course is tight and short. If you keep it in the fairway you can score here however make sure you take advantage of the putting green before the round. Other than Oakmont, I have never played on greens this fast which I actually enjoyed. This is a "must play" course in Ohio and also the Midwest. The staff is very friendly and the beauty of the course is high level. Will definitely play it again when the opportunity arises.

Scioto Country Club is totally old school. It was founded in 1916, just before the city of Upper Arlington was incorporated. I am not a member, but have had the opportunity to eat meals here or use the facilities off and on over the past 10 or 12 years- and I quite like it! I married into a family who grew up going to this club and many of our friends have connections as well. I must admit I get a chuckle out of the fact that SO many members (and "wanna be" members) view Scioto as the center of the universe. I don't take it too seriously. On the other hand, I also take scathing criticisms of Scioto Country Club with a grain of salt. Its Donald Ross golf course is often ranked among the top 100 courses in the country. Not to mention, Bobby Jones golfed here and Jack Nicklaus honed his skills at SCC. How could one not appreciate that tidbit of sports history? As for my own personal rating, let's just say it falls somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars... I never felt overwhelmed or intimidated by Scioto Country Club. Frankly, I've been to a lot swankier clubs, where the facilities are terribly posh and members are far snobbier, so I guess the experience is all relative. I've had numerous holiday meals, brunches and buffets here and find the food to be top notch. Never a bad meal and from what I recall, reasonably priced (if you don't count the atrocious membership fees). I couldn't justify spending the type of money it requires to be a member here, but it could be a neat place to to have access to- if you can afford it.Either way, Columbus is fortunate to have such a nice, storied country club in it's city limits, but Scioto certainly is not the center of the universe.

I am not a member of the Scioto Country Club but was there for a wedding. The wedding was outside over looking the golf course. It was interesting seeing a beautiful bride and then behind her were men in shorts playing golf. The patio was very nice and the dining room was beautiful. I hope I have another opportunity to visit.

Don't know anything about the pool or food really but as far as the golf course goes - excellent. If you get the chance to play, do it

Let me just say that if you're paying as much as you are per year to be a member of this fine establishment then you should be able to request a towel prior to 11 AM (ie....whenever the heck you need it!). ESPECIALLY when there is a gleaming white stack of them behind the counter just fresh from the dryer. Ridiculous. I'll write a more positive review when I have a more positive experience. Right now, I'm far too dumbfounded.

I recently helped organize an event held here, and it went great! The place has recently been remodeled and it was done beautifully. They have a large grand room that overlooks the golf course and multiple rooms on the other side of the building that looks like they were pulled straight from the Moors of Ireland (I have never been there, but if I had a castle there, I would imagine this is what it would look like). The rooms have large fireplaces, wooden floors, large bars and tables set up, and an overall welcoming feel. It felt more like you were walking through a warm, house (or castle) then what most people would think to be a "snobby" golf club. The staff was friendly and helpful. They offer Valet, which was amazing since it was especially icy, which never works well when I wear heels. The event planning staff helped us with everything and anything our requests may have needed. We even had a miniature "roast" on someone who was being honored, and a waiter offered to play a part in it!But onto the more important stuff... the food. Keep in mind we didn't order off the regular menu, instead we had a set meal for over 100 people, and yet it was still delicious (and with large parties, this is sometimes rare). The beginning of the meal involved the typical rolls with the addition of pecan rolls and a large, nice salad. Then came the entree. We served a fillet with shrimp on top, mashed potatoes, and carrots. I am not a huge red meat fan, but this was delicious and tender and oh so mouth watering. The best part of the meal (as usual) was the dessert. We had a dessert buffet filled with crepes being made fresh, ice cream, coffee, mini bite-size desserts, and a chocolate fountain with an array of snacks to dip.Simply put, food was great, service was great... but since I was not working the event on the financial side (aka having to pay for it) I have no idea how much this big ordeal cost but I have a feeling that for this excellence it cost a pretty penny. But sometimes you get what you pay for, and I had no complaints there.

I have been fortunate enough to be around the best of the best when it comes to golf and country clubs. You will not find a better course than Scioto. The management is one of the best there is, most members (every club has a it's share of bad) are very respectful and appreciative of staff. The club has a big foot imprint in the history of golf. Don't pass if lucky enough to have an opportunity to play.

Played with a friend while my daughter toured Ohio State. The course was in great condition and the greens quite challenging. Not the longest course, but very enjoyable for the mid-handicapper. Had dinner after the round, but the food was average at best, which I found surprising.

lets start at the entrance of the drive into the club.the two stone pillars were not really impressive.one was broken at the top.not impressive if that's the first thing you see when you enter the property.this is not a club that is on any top course list, they kept saying its a top 50 golf course.well its not.the list is that it is a top course pre-1930's not on todays.modern list not even mentioned.the employees looked very unhappy to be there.and they should,we saw at least 15 of them push mowing the islands of grass in the parking lot.and push moving up and down hills that clearly could be cut in 10 minutes with a rough mower.pretty humdrum clubhouse.not much to mention.the first tee,was not impressive at all.as you look down the fairway, there is not one stripe on the fairway.i guess they do what the pga wants, just like every other bad choice the pga makes."lets go back to the old ways of what the course should look and play like.well I hated it.not one stripe on the green at all.but they stripe the tee boxes?who cares about tee boxes?visually its not much to look at.every hole was way to close to the next one, usually play is slowed down because of zero separation of holes.the bunkers were like bomb craters.when we got to the back nine it was just as bad.there is a huge area between the layout that is just going to waste.why?dont know.the smell of the Scioto running through the whole course was horrible.and filthy.the tees were on top of the greens and way to close together.very short course, with not much challenge for the long hitter.making the greens play fast is ok,but when the greens are like concrete it makes for a bad round of golf.this course is 100 years old, that has to be the only reason the pga selected it for the 2016,who really cares about the senior open.the stone wall that surrounds the course is in really bad and poor shape.some parts of the wall have crumbled, and look like the stones have been there for years.the repairs I did see were bad,the mortar did not match the stone at all.attention to detail is paramount at a country club.none of the 18 holes stood out from the next one.they spent over 2 million dollars recently on the maint dept.when the money should have gone towards improving the look and play of the course.i have played public courses that had a better layout, and design.i guess this place tries hard, but falls short.golf was pretty boring.to much back and forth.pretty typical old mans course.the newer country clubs around ohio are way more fun with a way better layout.and a younger age group of members.this is ohios caddyshack course.it made me laugh out loud at some of the course choices.even the tee markers were boring.now lets get to the heart of sciotos bad rep.the day of the memorial, jerk Nicklaus comes there and plays golf with his group of 20 or so flunkies, and they just tear the course a new one,i hate this, you should change that,i don't like this layout.maybe you should move this or redesign that.then after he is done judging the course and playing his sad old man golf,he is rushed over to muirfield where he gives his sad little interview on the golf channel.the course that jack built?i never saw him with a shovel in his hand.employees at muirfield don't even get pain regular overtime there, they call it chineese overtime,so jack does not even pay his workers the money that is owed to them.arnold palmer is beloved, jack is merely tolerated.you can find out a lot from ex employees.scioto is just a place where the wanna, bees of this one horse town can get loaded on booze and drive home without being pulled over because of who they think they are.in short ,this place is such a joke.scioto reserve and kinsale have better reviews.because the members aren't wearing depends.
