Surely I've reviewed this. Been a few times over the years. I don't think it was here when I lived in the Village? But it is an essential part of any visit to Schmidt's, and even if you don't go to the restaurant you should stop in here (and the gift shop across the street.) There is better chocolate in town, maybe, but not much better, and here they have a large selection of other candies (and fudge, of course.) Prices are a bit high, but it's good stuff, and some is hard to find elsewhere. Service is friendly and fast, it's in a nice old building full of goodies but nicely arranged, and there is occasionally street parking at off times (don't bother with the restaurant lot on most days.)

The folks here were very friendly and helpful in our decision-making process, and the store has plenty of options from house-made treats in the case (pay by weight) to pre-packaged food and gift options. We didn't get to see the fudge being made live during our visit, but it's great that you can actually see the process when they're actively making it.I'd definitely make another stop if we're ever in the area again - great experience overall!

This is a must stop in German village for the best fudge! No really, they were voted one of the top homemade fudge shops in the US! There is also a bunch of other traditional candy shop chocolates and items to try, but if you get just one thing, its the fudge. On this visit I got the peanut butter cookies and cream fudge and it did not disappoint. There is also some gift items too. The staff was really nice and helpful. It is a little pricey, but that is to be expected from a local small business.

In German Village, we stopped by Schmidt's Fudge Haus for a bit of something sweet! There's so much chocolate here! And it's all made in house! We actually saw a man making the fudge. He had just completed mixing a very large bowl of chocolatey goodness, then he poured it into a flat dish. All the chocoholics had their eyes on this as they wondered how they could get their hands on this bowl for a good lick! They also have a variety of imported German chocolate and candies. You're not going to find your typical American chocolate such as m&ms and Hershey's. Instead you might find some nostalgic chocolate that you haven't seen in many years. I got some chocolate turtles on my visit to Schmidt's Fudge Haus. These are made of dark chocolate, and the walnuts are placed to look like legs and the head of a turtle. This is very quality chocolate. You could taste the richness of the dark chocolate in each bite.If you aren't into dark chocolate there are so many other varieties to choose from.If you're in the German Village please stop by Schmidt's Fudge Haus for some tasty chocolate.

Great gift shopChocolatés, fudge, candies-- all looked freshGreat little garden behind the store, with benchesThere's chocolate as well as maple walnut and other flavors of fudgeI am craving their PENUCHE, which was creamier than any fudge I've ever had. Maple walnut penuche tastes like maple walnut fudge, only a looser, creamier consistency. And they use only a few wholesome ingredients!

A cute little shop in the German Village. The chocolatier was actively making chocolate as we browsed the store. We ordered a slab of Chocolate Fudge with Walnuts. This was probably the best fudge I've ever had (I hope my mom never reads this). I'm not lying y'all. This stuff just melts in your mouth! We also got the obligatory Buckeyes which we learned are peanut butter and confectioners' sugar, dipped in chocolate. Kind of like a Reese's cup, but in ball form, and about 1000 times better. Its name comes from the fact that it resembles a nut from the Ohio Buckeye tree. OK, so you've heard how much I liked the fudge...but we talked about those Buckeyes the entire time we were in Columbus! That should tell you something.

Cute little chocolate place in German village! The chocolate turtles were big and perfectly sweet and chocolatey. The price per pound was decent as well. A man comes out and was making chocolate for us to see. Great place to buy gifts for friends!

Schmidt's Fudge Haus is a great place to pick up a variety of chocolate (or other) treats. My wife and I sampled various items in our gluttony: truffles, chocolate peanut butter cups, fudge, chocolate covered s'mores... you get the picture.Almost everything we tried was excellent and all were objectively good - anything we didn't love was more due to our subjective tastes. Prices are reasonable, and it's cool to get to see the chocolate and fudge makers who are frequently active as you peruse the shop.

Delicious, all of it. Made in house. When I walked in I thought there was a tour going on, but no that was just Tim giving amazing customer service to everyone inside. All the history, knowledge and insight on the candy, fudge or just plain chocolate it was really a good time.
