Just an FYI, they no longer have pumpkins and the market. I think they just sell hay? Very nice when I called to inquire though!

Great place to pick your own greens; green beans, pumpkinsPrices are reasonable $5 a bag for U-pick- whatever you can stuff in the bag. I've been coming here for about 4 years and is totally worth the trip. Some apples, potatoes, green beans and cider are available in the market

Horrible, horrible place! Saw a child, around 3, being harassed by an associate for dropping a tomato and bruising it. The female worker was upset and scolding the parent about how he needed to pay for it. The child was embarrassed and the worker looked like the most immature adult I've seen. Never coming back!

This market has a nice setup. Plenty of parking. The small open barn is perfect for the big bins and tables. Plenty of room to maneuver and peruse the offerings. They open the first week after Labor Day, and, from what I understand, stay open thru spring. All sorts of produce. Pumpkins, watermelon, zucchini, apples, pears (this year's crop only produced one picking), potatoes, green beans, beets, several jams (locally made). My main mission was to get some good beets. Of the five or so I picked out this trip, they weren't the most flavorful that I've had. But, nature's nature, so I won't judge :) I do know I will come back. Now, I wait in anticipation for the pears I got to ripen...!

We come here every year for our decorative pumpkins. It's not fancy, there aren't a ton of attractions or bells or whistles and I like that! Prices are reasonable and they offer seasonal fruits and veggies. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. They also offer you pick pumpkins as well, though I'm happy with the selection without going to the field!

I'm intrigued by this place. I found Schacht Farm because I knew it's where Jeni was buying pumpkins for this year's batch of ice cream. (It's actually the buttercup squash, but let's not fuss over little details.) Jeni has high standards, so I was most definitely excited about making the trip to Schacht to buy some pie pumpkins. And then I read the Yelp reviews. Holy crap--they're terrible!I was convinced to get to the bottom of things. I checked out their website, and it sounds like they made a big switch in 2013 from growing loads of spring and summer produce to now only focusing on fall crops. I can understand why people are upset over the switch--especially if they had come to love the you-pick strawberries, etc--but I also respect a business's right to change their model. I just so happen to be a fan of fall, and I loved what Schacht had going on.This is most definitely not the giant sprawl of Lynd's, so if that's what you're looking for--just go to Lynd's. I like that Schacht is a bit smaller and more of a family feel. There's a big lot full of every pumpkin you could imagine. Of course they had beautiful jack-o'-lantern pumpkins, but they also had several culinary varieties as well! I bought sugar, buttercup, and cinderella pumpkins to roast for pie filling this fall. I'm no pumpkin whisperer or anything, but I thought all these squashes were gorgeous! Just beyond the pumpkin lot is the you-pick part of the farm. There were greens, peas, pumpkins, and more! And if you still wanted to do something else, there was a little area to pet some mules. Last, there's a tiny shop where you pay, and you can also pick up cider, honey, and a few other goodies.I really had a nice time at Schacht Farm, and if you're in the mood for fall--I think you'll like it too.

This is the place my family comes to get their collard greens. Wait for a good herd frost and then hurry because they go quick and you'll miss it!

Schacht Farm Market is a great little market off of Gender Road. They offer homegrown fruits and veggies. It's the ultimate in local food. All of it is grown with a few miles of the store, and it's all very seasonal -- strawberries and asparagus pop up first. Peaches, green beans, corn and berries follow. Lots of other vegetables and fruits find their way in between those. Pumpkins and hay finish out the year. The employees are always very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are great too. They're a little lower than I've encountered at other markets. Check out Schacht's and support local agriculture.

I've only been here once recently, but so far I thought it was nice. I've read "horror" stories about a woman going off her rocker if you pet her animals and rude service, but I didn't encounter any of that when I came. The parking lot was FULL, but in a few seconds someone pulled out of their parking spot. A few people were pulling empty wagons into the farm and others were hauling away wagons full of goodies. This place was happenin'!They had lots of different pumpkins for sale and the I only remember that the little ones were $1 (not the flatter ones, but the rounder ones, about the size of a large orange). Seeing all the pumpkins made me want to start decorating our house early! There were barrels of about 6 different varieties of apples and as I was looking at them, one of the employees came and refilled a barrel. She was helpful with letting me know the flavors of each apple. The small, red tart ones were tasty!! In other apple news, they had apple cider and apple butter from other Ohio producers.Seems like a nice family business selling conventionally grown produce.
