Best value for your dollar for public golf in North Columbus. They take great care of the course and it's got some great challenging holes.

Safari Golf Club gets 2-stars from me for a small handful of reasons.First on the list is the course design/layout. Safari underwent another make-over (the last and most dramatic being around 2007 - 08 when many holes were re-routed; in a good way I minght add). The course has been lengthened but not strengthened. By that I mean a long course can add to its unfavorability. Because so much of Safari's golf holes run back and forth, to and fro, parallel to each other there are golfers playing from other fairways back to their golf holes and greens. Stretching out the length simply puts a poor or average golfer further away from their final destination and, when in my fairway, causes delay after delay. I liked Safari of old because it was short and simple to play - still aggravating because of layout - but play was swifter. Today, things are really backing up.Next is simply the level of golfer playing Safari. The cost of playing is less than most public courses around and that's good. But low cost brings out poor golfers who in what seems more incidents than not don't understand or give a hoot about speed of play. Two carts and four guys looking for one golf ball doesn't work for me, especially (read last paragraph) when they're trying to drive into my fairway. Etiquette in golf is paramount and, yeah, that makes me sort of a golf snob. There, I said it. But JesuChristi, a 5-hour round on a short course because somebody wants to compare cigar brands, chat about last night's piece of gr_ass and the likes has no place unless you're a +2 handicap. Finally, the course seems to have many green-to-tee distance problems. Heck, it takes almost a full minute to leave hole no. 1's green to get to hole no. 2's tee (with a cart). The same can be said for 3 or 4 others. And Safari takes on a lot of local walkers. Walking is fine but not when a group in carts is finished and moving before the foursome ahead of them is arriving at the next tee. What's good about Safari? The range is a good place to warm up before the round. The putting green is big and smooth. The restaurant, bar and outdoor patio serviceable. A large outdoor pavilion is available for party rentals. Parking is ample. And there are stretches of holes at Safari that are very enjoyable, mostly on the back nine. Last - if you're a CBUS Zoo contributor you'll get a 10% discount.I love golf and I'll return to Safari Golf Club time and again because of price and friends play there. But I can say I walk off with more stress than when I entered the grounds.

Not a bad place to golf as long as your there when they have specials. Prices aren't to bad for area. The course this year is in my opinion much better than the shape it was in last summer. Only thing that turns me away sometimes is the amount of people they have on the course at once, sometimes seems like spending more time sitting around waiting than actually playing but I'm no pro so its not that bad. Looking for a nice golf outing I recommend checking it out!

On May 26th, I golfed with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. I chose Safari because it's the halfway point for both of us & we had played it in the past. The course itself is pretty good. It's maintained well and fun to play. However, none of that matters much when the experience is ruined by the staff. It started before we even began playing. The guy in the clubhouse was very unfriendly & actually rude. We tried to engage him in friendly small talk.....that wasn't happening. He didn't even look at us. Even rolled his eyes at one point. Then we get to the first tee & wait to tee off. And wait, and wait, and wait. We didn't get to tee off until 12 mins after our scheduled tee time. The pace of play was slow the whole round. Yet, oddly, the ranger appeared behind us multiple times to hurry us along. We were being rushed into the back of the group in front of us the entire round. This was completely unnecessary since there was no group behind us all day! It felt like we were being stalked by the ranger all day. It was unnerving & definitely did not make for an enjoyable day! We noticed that the staff were setting up tables next to all the tee boxes behind us. This made it obvious that we were being rushed off the course so they could get ready for an event. To put the icing on the cake, we ended the round trying to golf around 4 grounds keepers on the 18th hole. 3 men were using weed eaters around the stream in THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY and the 4th man was driving through the fairway on a Gator. None of them attempted to move or even acknowledge us. We had to hit our shots over the stream with the workers weed eating in it. They didn't even shut down their machines while we hit. It's like we weren't even there. The guy in the Gator even parked the vehicle in the middle of the cart path & we had to drive off the path to get around it. We really felt as though our time, money & experience didn't matter to anyone we encountered that day. It was as though we were inconveniencing the staff by being there. They obviously had to get ready for an event & that's all they were concerned with. What should have been a great day of golf with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, ended up being a terrible experience for us both! I'm not one to write poor reviews. Rest assured, I would have addressed these issues with staff at the end of our round if the guy in the clubhouse had been at all approachable.

For the cost $42 you would expect the tee boxes to not resemble a sand trap and have some grass to stand on. The fairways on a few holes are pretty marked up. The rough on the right side of 17 looked like the turf had been hacked up with a spade. The only good thing about the Safari is that it's close to town, but I'd rather drive 30 mins and pay half the cost for courses that keep themselves in good shape.

Came here a couple weeks ago with some friends. I thought the course was fine, but the cart rides from hole to hole were a bit long, and sometimes the tee boxes were not in intuitive locations. Some tee boxes were also temporary. They also made some changes to some holes, so there were awkward spaces of new grass and sprouts. However, the starter, girl at the front and girl at the bar were all friendly and accommodating!

I m a patient golfer but 4.5 hours on a Wednesday is inexcusable. The greens are just plain terrible beaten and so so slow, mud might actually make them faster. The layout makes almost no sense, finding the next tee is like a treasure hunt, walking this course would take forever, though you d still probably have to wait on the group in front of you before your next shot. The practice facility is also shoddy, very little turf on the range and no holes on the practice green. Don t let the new clubhouse fool you, this is one of the worst loops in central Ohio.
