Rivers Coffee House

Everything in this coffee house was brilliant! I walked in and my walk-up music was playing. I mean, the songs from my good old days! The shop was warm and inviting and the owner/operator immediately welcomed me.The pastry display case was filled with homemade treats that all looked incredible and I will go back to try them. This time around I had a Buckeye Coldbrew and a breakfast burrito. Both were incredible! As a bonus, they are on the new #PickawayCoffeeTrail!!!

Coffee, donuts and more await you in this small town shop with a big heart. My wife and I were warmly welcomed into the coffee house by one employee, and the kindness was on display for the whole visit as we soon met the owner/baker. My wife got a got vanilla cold brew with their homemade syrup. She said it was fantastic. I was there for the sweets... and a little savory once I saw the candied bacon. Yum! We also got a biscuit - but without the gravy that could have accompanied it. In retrospect, I would have added the gravy as the biscuit couldn't carry the dish on its own. Their donut/pastry case had room for many options, but we arrived too late in the day and saw that some items had already sold out. Between the maple donut, strawberry long john (points for appearance with real strawberries on top), and cream cheese topped cinnamon roll, they all were consistently fine. The texture of each one was chewy if you prefer that style, and the fillings were whipped cream based compared to a buttercream that you might get elsewhere. I think coffee drinkers will rejoice at this new option in Ashville, but sweets fans will want to get there early to try the best of the best offerings.

The workers and owner are always kind and welcoming. The coffee is great, the homemade syrups are sooo good. The bakery items are all yummy, but by far the biscuit and gravy are our favorite. They taste like our Mamaw's. So very good.
