Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

I know the Gelati combination is kind of polarizing in the Midwest, but I'm a fan. Rita's is like a grown up version of those ice cream filled popsicles you ate as a kid. If you really don't love that combo, you can have an ice, or a custard cone, so I think they have something for everybody. I also really, really, love soft serve and the soft serve custard at Rita's is just delightful. They always have vanilla and chocolate, and they regularly have a special flavor that you can order in your ice, in a cone, or as a twist cone. I also really love twist cones, so....Rita's has numerous rotating flavors of water ice, hard scoop custard and soft serve custard. Like I said, I like the gelati combo a lot, with cherry ice and vanilla ice cream, or vanilla ice and chocolate ice cream being particular favorites. My most recent treat was a black raspberry and vanilla twist waffle cone. The custard was fruity but not too sweet and that sucker was HUGE. I actually stuck about half in the freezer and came back.

Love a Rita's in the summertime! Wish there were more seats like some of the other locations. Service was friendly, prices aren't horrible, and the treats/flavors are solid. Pro tip: mango slushie thing with cheesecake custard is top tier!

This was my first time ever having Rita's. The folks working here are great. Fast and friendly service, even with a long line. I ordered a peanut butter cup Concrete and it was a letdown. It didn't taste like peanut butter at all and had hardly any hot fudge or mix ins. After two bites, there was no more hot fudge. Boooooo. It was basically just a cup of vanilla ice cream. Custard did have a nice creamy consistency, but this is no DQ Blizzard!

Rita's is a walk up Italian ice/frozen custard eatery. This location has benches out front where you can sit and enjoy your frozen treats. There is also a drive thru window if you'd prefer to stay in your car. Another great visit to Rita's on Henderson. This place is always clean and the young people that work here are friendly and greet you with a smile. If you've never had Italian ice, feel free to ask to sample a few flavors. They are always willing to let you try it out.

While I've had creamier custards, Rita's is ideal for groups where some individuals might have an aversion (i.e., lactose intolerance) to dairy products. They have equal products that are ices vs. custards so there's something for everyone.The menu is too large to describe but there are drinks, blends, sundaes, and simple cones. They typically offer 3 custard flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and a special flavor of the day), and many more italian ice flavors.Prices range from $3 to $7, mostly depending on size. For about $5, we had a fairly large cup of mango ice with chocolate-vanilla swirl custard (about a scoop and a half). It was more than enough dessert to share for 2.

Who in the world thought to put together flavored ice and custard?! "Rita" apparently, that's who! Well, I'm forever grateful that she did because this mix of tart textured ice and creamy, smooth custard is mind blowing. I honestly thought it would be an odd combination at first... Boy was I wrong!My sister and I visited during what some are calling the "reopening" phase of COVID-19. The first thing I noticed were all the safety precautions set in place. Samples were a no-go, which is a bummer if it's your first time, but understandable. They had high plastic barriers between patrons and staff, everyone had masks on and they were required to enter. They even take Apple Pay so you don't have to touch anything but what you ordered, if that's your style. I went with a large Gelati with vanilla custard and strawberry watermelon ice. The large was a bit much but the small wasn't quite enough. That being said, I couldn't put it down! Tis the season for cool frozen treats and I will definitely be back. There's so many options and ways to enjoy Rita's and honestly... I'm glad there isn't one closer to me. That could be dangerous.

I stop at this Rita's every few weeks or so. It always satisfies my sweet tooth! This past time I ordered the zombies blood speciality seasonal flavor. I don't know what was it it, but it was super delicious! There is nothing like cranking up the heat inside the car while eating freezing custard to make it feel like summer.. maybe? Lol. It was super chilly out the day I went! The service is often good and everyone I observed wore masks Parking is limited and the in and out drives are a bit confusing

First time and I was blown away! We had wild cherry Gelati and a sundae. Shockingly refreshing with the fruit and ice cream combo. Lots of outdoor seating and a drive through. Will absolutely be back!

I've been eyeing this place for a while but hadn't ever visited until a friend suggested we meet here on a Saturday evening around 7. There wasn't much of a line yet, but it got busier as we sat closer to 9. A lot of people hung around and sat on some of the benches or in their cars. My friend got the pineapple gelato with vanilla custard. It was nice and smooth!My sister and I shared the Dragonfruit sugar-free gelato. Nice flavor!Prices are cheap! And it's a nice treat to cool down in the summertime.The staff is really nice as well! They work quickly.The parking lot isn't large but people didn't stick around long.I will add that I wish they had dairy free options. I can't stomach dairy very well these days and it would be nice to see some alternatives.

Their ice cream is extremely yummy and is affordable and they are very quick and fast when getting your order I would recommend this place to everyone
