Redtyes Family Kitchen and Catering

Food tasted like it was at least two weeks old. First time ordering from you all and last. So disappointed. Didn't feel like cooking so I door dashed. Now the wings had flavor. But the rest of the winds sweet potatoes greens and Mac and cheese going in trash. Haven't tasted the fried potatoes yet but don't trust the age of them so they are getting dumped too. Ugh! Definitely would not recommend.

The people were friendly . The fish was not my favorite and the wings were seasoned more than I was use to.My potatoes were over cooked and somewhat burned and the Mac & cheese was not what I expected either . I wanted to try it though since it was a new place for me . But maybe I went in on bad day . I was interested after reading some reviews. But I prefer corn meal battered fish . The seasoning was different than what I expected.

This is the best soul food I've had in years. I mean truly, this is a gem! The fried tilapia was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. The greens with turkey was great. The naked wings made me want to cry. 10/10. The spicy garlic was the icing on the cake. And then they had the nerve to throw in an extra wing . Whatever y'all do, please don't change a thing. Ps , I also ordered the strawberry crumb cake.... Like how can you beat that? This place needs to be on one of these Food channels.

Food was good. Fresh and hot when I picked it up. I recommend someone in the area to make sure this place be there 1st choice.

I was lucky enough to have lunch catered by Redtyes and I will definitely be visiting their place. Turkey tips and Mac and cheese were amazing. The green beans reminded me of my grandma's which was an added bonus. I can't speak for the on-site restaurant but the catering is phenomenal.

REPOST- My review is 100% accurate for my experience. Im only reposting it because my original post was mysteriously removed. Terrible location. It's on the backside of a building away from public view so one should be careful of surroundings when visiting this shady location. Prices are too high for the amount of food you get. Example- $17 for a 6 piece wing dinner. The sides are toddler sizes and they charge $13 for 2 pieces of whiting.... Not walleye no... it's $13 for cheap whiting!! Don't get me wrong the food does not taste bad. I ate here 3 times in the span of a week spending $30 each time (fish for me wings for my wife) and would have continued to do so because I support black businesses but not if the respect isn't mutual. They really have terrible customer service as well. Can barely take an order without attitude and they are always out of several menu items. So yesterday I order, I get home and realize there is only 1 piece of whiting broken down into 2 pieces. So I immediately called them and one of the employees told me that when they feel like the fish is big they don't provide the customer with the 2 pieces as advertised... they just tear 1 fillet in half. So basically they are getting 2 dinners from one fish lol you can't make this shit up. So it was in that moment I knew I'd never deal with them again and you shouldn't either. "RedTyes" is ridiculous and petty.

Redtyes is located in a small strip mall on Hamilton Rd. There is a sign when you enter saying that Redtyes is a business in the plaza, but you don't actually see it in the front. I was about to leave, thinking maybe it wasn't there anymore when I saw an orange arrow on a concrete wall. I followed the arrow and the restaurant is actually on the side of the plaza, not visible from the street. It was night time when I went, and had I not seen that arrow I wouldn't have dined here, so hopefully the owners can work on some more clear signage so that potential customers can actually find the restaurant.All that said, overall I enjoyed my experience here. The inside is small with one table so carryout is a must. The staff were very courteous. I ordered a catfish dinner (2 sides - mac and cheese and baked beans), and my friend ordered the bbq chicken meal (3 pieces, green beans, baked beans). The guy at the register said that the bbq sauce was made there and it was the only place you could get it in the city. While I didn't actually try any of the chicken, my friend seemed to enjoy it. My catfish was seasoned very well, my only complaint would be that the fish was somewhat thin and kind of hard to chew. The mac and cheese was excellent, definitely homemade. And the baked beans tasted like they had a little extra love/spices/flavor put into them and I enjoyed them as well. When I'm on the east side I'll probably stop through again.

I really enjoyed the food but the lady at the front desk was just plain rude really made it hard to order due to her intimidating attitude. If your someone who struggles with social anxiety plz don't go here or she'll make you feel like your wasting her time with your order . The husband on the other had was very polite

I ordered thru Grubhub and enjoyed most of the items I ordered. The turkey burger with toasted buns was tender but could have used less salt or seasoning. The soulfood egg roll was overpowered by the yam/sweet potato, and I wasn't able to taste the collard greens. The catfish filet was delicious and seasoned just right. Overall, I was indeed full from this meal.

First off the lady working the counter gets extremely overwhelmed if you change ANYTHING!! her customer service is ok but, she has no idea how to multi task. The greens and green beans were entirely too spicy. I threw them both away. For some this ok, just not for me.
