Moldovan wine...Ukrainian beer...Icelandic beer...Irish mead...Indian beer...Japanese sake...Serbian wine...Polish Beer...Have I piqued your interest?Good, mission accomplished, keep reading...I enjoy sipping on a boozy beverage from time to time and maybe you do too. One of my favorite places to search for new finds is Palmer's, a long time (since 1976) Clintonville favorite. I like this place. It's an adult beverage micro-emporium that markets an interesting mix of beer and wine for the imbibing community. They offer many of the usual standards along with an ever-changing, eclectic mix that's sure to keep most anyone interested. Get to know Emily, the owner / manager / buyer as she's really knowledgeable about their product. She's always helpful and she doesn't have that snobby pretentiousness that you sometimes find in other beer and wine stores.Let's talk about the wine first. You'll find French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chilean, Argentine and American wines here. If you're looking for something that's unique ask Emily about their selection of Moldovan, Serbian or Georgian (the country, not the state) wines. These wines are hidden gems, IE quite good but hard to find. So, if you're looking to impress someone...We need to talk about the beer too. Of course, Palmer's has all the popular North American favorites, but I generally check them out for their interesting selection of microbrews and imports. Palmer's rotates a diverse range of brews from places like: Ireland, England, Scotland, Poland, Mexico, Iceland, Germany, India and yes, even Dayton Ohio, to name just a few. They never stock up heavily on their microbrews and imports so if you see it, you want it, you might want to buy it because it's probably not going to be there next time you visit.I highly recommend this place.5 very solid stars.AndHere'sALittleExtraPourInYourGlass:** Palmer's is perfectly located. You'll find India Oak Bar and Grill where you can find some of the best subs in Cbus just across the street, Rodo's European restaurant right next door and two great pizza places just up Indianola, Dante's Pizza and Gatto's Pizza. Food and drink all in one convenient spot. What's not to like?** Wine makes a great gift for birthdays, housewarming, family dinners, holidays, hostess gift or even just a simple appreciation gift.** Palmer's will give you a 10% discount when you buy 6 or more bottles of wine.

I've been here a few times before; I thought I had reviewed it but I guess not. It's a small-ish but well stocked liquor store. Good selection of wine, beer, liquors, etc. Always good with advice on things, and I am usually coming in looking for unusual things which they help me find. If they don't have it, Weyland's up the road might, so it's a good neighborhood to do this sort of shopping in. This time I came in for minis of bourbon cream. They had Bailey's minis, and they also had full bottles of some others. I ended up with a local favorite, Middle West bourbon cream. Can't wait to try it in a root beer float. Super service, decent prices, good selection. Handy location for campus and pretty much anywhere in the center of town.

Around OSU you can't get enough beer. I always liked this store better than the shady ones closer to campus. Palmer's has a better selection of crafts and local stuff. Friendly service is another reason it's better. The prices aren't that bad especially for an independent store. Because it's a smaller place, it doesn't have as much on hand as big stores carry. It makes up for it by having more craft and local. The selection actually is pretty good when looking at how many harder to find brands are in stock. Prices are good. These are comparable with other local stores. It carries a lot of name brands. They also have harder to find varieties of these brands, like stuff that comes out seasonally. It often gets mentioned by many amateur and professional critics alike as the best beer store in Columbus. Prices and the friendly knowledgeable staff have much to do with it. The other reason is the selection they have for an independently owned local store.

Love this store. Nice selection, friendly staff and fair prices. It may not be the biggest or fanciest store in town but it delivers the goods without hype or pretense. I live around Grandview but am happy to make the short trek to Palmer's to get what I need.

I'm so glad Palmer's is still around. I enjoy beer (more than I should) but I do not enjoy the hipster snobbery that has come to define beer-drinking. I like Palmer's because it's a beer-lovers beer shop minus the excessive facial hair and triple-hop growler swinging. Things are laid back at Palmer's, with plenty of beer-mabilia on the walls and pets roaming around, as things at a family-run business should be. Beer and wine tastings happen regularly, and we've taken home some great stuff based on those sips. The staff all know their beer and wine and can help you choose something new without being overbearing or judgmental about your preferences. They have a great selection of local and regional beers and just about everything else from top-shelf to Natty Light. You can pick up a case for your dad, a six-pack for yourself and a bottle of Portuguese white wine for your mom, all at the same place.

I went to Palmer's many years ago and I didn't find it's offerings to be any better than nearby Weinland's, Pace-Hi or Andy's, but things have certainly changed since then. It has always had a great wine selection, but the microbrew section has gotten considerable more depth since then. I suppose that's to be expected with the entire industry growing like it is. The only potential downside is that the majority of the beer is kept at room temperature, so if you want a beer and you want it now, your options are a bit more limited than they would otherwise be. They carry a good selection of limited release ales and some rarer microbrews that you won't see at other stores. The shelves were somewhat cleaned out on my most recent visit, but this isn't always the case. Prices are the same here as everywhere else. If you don't live near Palmer's, depending on what you're after, you may do just as well somewhere closer, but if you are looking for something a little less likely to be found at other outlets, Palmer's will probably have some interesting options for you.

Upon the closing of the Andersons stores that were my go to's for great selections of beer and wine that you couldn't find anywhere else and definitely not in your neighborhood grocery stores. Sometimes I'd get lucky and find it at the trusty Giant Eagle. However this time my husband had developed a great fondness for a beer that at that time I only ever found at the Andersons. So they closed and I promptly took to Yelp to seek out another beverage place to replace the Anderson's that was hopefully closer to me too. What do you know I found these guys. Not only did they have it in stock now that I call every week for it for my hubby they always have it cooling in the cooler. Wow what great customer service and they order extra so we can always get our six pack! Love these guys!

Palmer's is my go to for all things wine and beer. They have tastings with reps from various breweries and wineries so you can learn about the product from the source. The staff knows their stuff and have helped me buy wine as a gift without drama or snobbery (I suck at selecting wine on my own.)
