Far more charming that what I had anticipated. We were in town over the New Year's Eve weekend for an event nearby & needed lodging. We not only booked a room in advance with ease, but treated ourselves to their romance package which featured a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, breakfast for two & a 2:00pm late check out.Ample parking. Decent restaurant. Helpful staff.

I stayed here for almost a week for work. My only prior experience with this hotel was when my family stayed here for my graduation many years ago. The check-in process was relatively easy, though I found it odd that every time I came to the desk there was no one to be found and I had to wait a couple of minutes to be noticed. The room was comfortable with plenty of space to settle in. I'd read other reviews about the mattress being uncomfortable but didn't have an issue with mine. Some parts of the hotel have been updated - the bathrooms, for example, have newer showers and fixtures. They look nice enough but everything felt like it could benefit from a deep clean. The drain cover, a large rectangular piece, is metal and slightly rusted due to dripping water or sitting water. I also had a hard time maintaining a consistent water temperature if showering in the morning so I switched to showering at night and it was better. The walls are thin enough that I could hear my neighbor's phone conversation on the first night (which means she could hear the television show I turned on to drown her out, I suppose). Due to COVID, they aren't providing housekeeping during stays. This was only a problem due to the amount of trash people were putting in the hallway that wasn't getting picked up. I'm not sure if it was an anomaly during the week of my visit, but there were several bags of trash outside rooms that were there for a day or more, leading to the common areas smelling bad. I understand not going into rooms, but it would be nice if someone at least walked through to pick up trash. Staying for six nights meant I had some of my own trash to put out, though I refrained because I didn't want to contribute to the odor or potential for attracting pests. I didn't receive a folio on the morning of checkout, either electronically or under my door, so made a stop at the front desk. There was some confusion over my tax exempt status that was seemingly resolved, but then was charged some tax back three days later. The chargeback was correct - the first employee refunded too much - but again didn't receive a folio until I called and asked about the charge and requested documentation. Overall, a good stay and you can't beat the location when going to campus. They definitely have some kinks to work out at the front desk and with the cleaning crews.

It's an older hotel as you can tell from the carpet design. The service was great though! People are pretty nice in Athens and seem to make eye contact and smile to greet you.I came for a forum hosted on the second floor. Not a large space, but there weren't even 90 of us in there.Bathrooms were clean. They had a few stalls in the women's. They also had a small sitting area. There's a cafe downstairs which I think may be a Starbucks? I'm assuming it is since they served us Starbucks coffee upstairs. The parking lot isn't huge but I had no trouble finding parking. This is located pretty close to Ohio University's campus and I'm sure students who come to tour probably stay here. You can definitely walk from here. There's a roundabout just by it though, so I would be careful as a pedestrian.Overall, it's easy to find off the road and the workers here definitely made for a great experience! They're so polite!

Stayed here three nights for a work-related meeting. Room was fine (except for a minor ant infestation). Room included a small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Right out the front door of the Inn and to the left was a bike path along the river. Nice place for a morning walk. My wall mounted A/C unit had a difficult time cooling my room. I'd wake up in the middle of the night saying "it's hot in here". I turned it down as low as it would go (yes I know that does not really work). But it made me feel better, even if the room did not cool.

Don't get me wrong. I've stayed here many times over the years. Always had a nice experience and had one again this time. The pool area and inside court area was/is very nice. Staff was exceptional. The problem is the dated rooms. Outside of the very comfy mattress, everything is old. Beginning with the lampshade with two tears one repaired with scotch tape, the other not repaired. Old chair, furniture, bathroom fixtures. Spend some money. Come on OU Inn it's time to up your game!

My family and I stayed at this location on our way home from North Carolina and I really do not think I can critique a single thing. The customer service was fantastic, and they offered to open the pool an hour early for our family since we got in so late. We were given an impeccably clean room, no concerns about clean sheets etc. The bathroom was clean and the shower was calling my name which is rare. I normally use all of my own soaps and cosmetics, due to the rubbery feeling hotel soaps usually leave my skin and hair with. I did use their supplied soaps and was very satisfied. I would certainly return to this location and even recommended my daughter to stay here on her way home, one day after us. She ended up staying in Pittsburgh and had a much different experience, I so wish she could have stayed at Ohio University Inn. Keep up the great work!

I was surprised to see this rated as a three star hotel - it's not perfect, but I don't think a three is good enough.Staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful. The room was clean and nicely prepared. The restroom in our king suite was a little cramped, but not intolerably so. The Cutlers restaurant was excellent both in food quality and service. I would eat there even if I wasn't a guest. The room rate was great (off season of course) and the restaurant costs were in line with hotel dining.Challenges..... the floors are not all at the same level. It's hard to explain, but thinking of the second floor, for instance - you take the elevator and arrive on the second floor. Then you walk down 7 steps to another level of the second floor. Walking further along the second floor, another set of steps are taken to go up or down. This was not really a problem for us as we are healthy, fit and mobile; if this would be a problem for you, it would be important to ask for specific floor details at check in. That said, the front desk staff specifically told us that they would be happy to help with luggage or transferring our overnight items.I LOVE a dark bedroom. While our room was nice, it faced the pool. There is a wonderful sitting/dining area around the pool (see image) with lights that stay on all night. They are bright enough that we could pretty easily see where everything was in our room. We couldn't have done any serious reading or anything detailed, but it was fairly well lit. Ask for a room away from the pool area if this would matter to you.The HVAC is fairly loud. It didn't bother my husband, but the shutting on and off disturbed me at various points throughout the night. The bathroom light is accompanied by a loudish fan, and the toilet has a power flush that's pretty noisey, too. A good pair of earplugs could help with this. That said, we would definitely stay here again knowing how to ensure our stay would be even better next time. We would recommend it to anyone.

I think it's pretty cheap that the hotel doesn't offer any premium television stations.
