Late fall 2023 was my first time to the Ohio Theater! And seeing a CLASSIC iconic Broadway production of (drumroll): Mrs. Doubtfire! I had such a blast with a reconnected friend from high school, I went to several more CAPA productions last year. Fast-forward to current time, she's a Broadway season ticket holder and sucked me in, haha! I got a season ticket for this 2024/2025 season, and all of them are at (another drumroll: Ohio Theater! Seeing the season opener, MJ: The Musical, last Sunday, this is a f static venue for performing arts! I will say now, I'm not an experienced performing arts theater goer, so take my review with a grain of salt, but see productions here leaves me with a small feeling of prestige in that part of my discretionary income is going toward a seemingly somewhat dying art form (due to cultural/societal shifts; sad face). Deemed a historical registered spot, the location is perfect: Smack in the heart of Ohio, parking garage and street meter parking around, many great restaurants within walking distance; it's got a lot going for it. I don't know enough about acoustics to say anything on that front. Of the shows I've now seen, one's mics weren't up high enough/working to optimum, but that's not necessarily a result of the structure. Happy theatre-camper, here!

Tis a beauty of an establishment. Can I say ornate? You be the judge. A variety of acts have been through over the years. Some say they can feel the presence of the ghosts of the dead as well as the living. That's why I liked it.

I've been to the Ohio Theatre twice and both times I had a really great time. I'll start from the beginning. The theatre is located right downtown on State Street across from the Ohio Statehouse. It has an elaborate marquee out front with light up letters that tell what show is currently playing. Parking around the area can be a bit of a squeeze but there are a few parking garages nearby. I don't live far so both times I took a rideshare. They always have security shuffling you across the street in between traffic. A+ for safety. Once inside you'll be blown away by the ornate interior. The entire lobby is gold and the ceiling has a beautiful design, with large chandeliers. The red carpet and curtains all throughout add a certain flair to it. The only thing modern about this lobby is the neon pink sign that reads, "Make it yours, Opera Columbus." The bathrooms are downstairs and there's one bar/concession area with snacks and drinks. As for seating the options include floor seats, along with mezzanine and balcony seats. Both times I've visited I had floor seats and the view was always good. The stage is a good size and neither time did I have issues hearing anything. If you have bad eyes you're in luck because they do have televisions with a closer view for you. I can definitely say that anyone, even if you're not really into theater, should go at least once.

I've visited the Ohio Theatre twice to see the Broadway musicals Aladdin and The Lion King.My experiences there were fantastic. The architecture is beautifully preserved, and the visuals and acoustics were outstanding. The ushers were friendly and always ready to help with any questions. The restrooms were also very clean. Overall, I had an amazing time.

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the musical Frozen at this theatre, as well as a multitude of other shows in the past. To say it is breathtaking inside would be an understatement. It is a real theatre experience. The staff is also very warm and friendly. Lots of kids like to look in the orchestra pit, and the conductor always seems more than happy to engage with them. The ladies who do the signing for the show are also phenomenal and very expressive. The acoustics in the theatre are excellent, and there really are no bad seats. The performers mean business, and I've never been let down by a show here! Outside the main theatre, there's places to buy snacks and waters, as well as themed merchandise for whatever show is going on. I will definitely be returning to the Ohio Theatre in the future. A real Columbus gem!!

I love this theater so much! This historical gem makes every event and performance feel so magical. It is incredibly well taken care of and I'm excited to learn that the fundraising efforts for the 100-year-old organ have been met. Be sure to look around -- and up! The ceilings are awesome. Wood carvings and details abound through the space. Even the restrooms are worth checking out! Give yourself some time to walk around beforehand, especially if it's your first visit. It's a special place!Outside of beloved holiday productions, one of my favorite events is any Fritz the Night Owl movie night -- we just went to The Lost Boys this past weekend and loved every second! There is a small concession stand off the main area and they do accept credit cards. Candy was $3, wine/beer/cocktails about $8-9, water $4.

My family and I were in town In Columbus and we absolutely love theatre and symphonies. We were told the Ohio Theatre in Columbus was absolutely gorgeous, and we decided to check it out and also have an enjoyable night while doing it. We got tickets to listen to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra one night in which they would be playing Schubert's Symphony Number 4. We normally sit in orchestra level, but since we got tickets so late we were lucky to get seats at all, as far away as they were from the orchestra. Parking is actually very convenient, the Columbus Commons Parking Garage is within easy walking distance. One gripe about this theatre is that although it does have an elevator, where its located is not easily marked anywhere. My mother does have mobility issues, and it would have been nice if the location was clearly marked. The theatre itself isn't just beautiful, it is breathtaking! Built in 1928, it is an opulent and classy venue that is palatial in size. It is built in a Spanish-Baroque style that just screams elegance. It even has a 21 foot high chandelier inside where the plays/symphonies are done. Take a look at the pictures, i fell on love with this theatre. The only theatre I have been to, and I have been to many across this country, that comes close to thee elegance of this theatre is the Olympia Theatre in Downtown Miami. The theatre also has a large concessions area that very quickly and efficiently take care of the patrons attending the theatre. It sells snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, champagne and mixed drinks. My family and I both had some drinks prior to the start of the play. One thing I love which I do not know if I should attribute to the venue or the symphony, was they had a harpist from their Young Musician's Showcase, Tehya Hazelbaker, playing. It was wonderful to have a drink before the show started and listening to an incredibly talented young musician playing the harp! Again, this place is first class! The seating was comfortable, which you cannot say about many venues. One other problem I do think they should improve regards their ushers. They do not have enough of them. I tried looking for one after intermission because I needed their assistance. There was this couple seated in a row near us that spent their entire time talking and being on facebook, which was very rude and distracting everyone around them. I could not find a single usher. Thankfully, the man sitting in front of us told them to stop that during intermission, and we all had a more enjoyable second act.Columbus in particular and all of Ohio should be proud to have a theatre like this one! Truly a highlight of my families trip!
