New Ming is on the east side of Akron. We saw this place on Google maps and at first glance online, thought it would be a sit-down-and-order type of restaurant. It's actually a counter-service place in a strip mall. It does have a big seating area, but it's kind of tired looking and really needs some painting and sprucing up. That said, there was a steady stream of customers coming in to order or pick up takeout, and the open kitchen was well staffed and stayed busy on a Monday evening. The food was pretty good and the portions were large, but the flavors were a bit on the bland side.

The best Chinese food restaurant in the area. Tasty and always consistent. Would recommend to anyone.

Taste all depends on the day it seems, however, it is usually good no matter what....some days are just better than others. As a creature of habit I usually get wonton soup and veggie lo mien. The soup is usually the item that is better some times than others. The food is always ready quickly and is piping hot.

It really is what it is . But it's not cheap and it's not especially good. Bill Hwangs is cheaper and way better.

Been going here a long time and the food has consistently gone down hill. Used to be the best in Akron. Went there earlier this week and as I was paying for my food, one of the cooks dropped a piece of meat on the floor. He picked it up with his spatula and tossed it in the trash and then continued cooking with the same spatula. Sadly, that was my last meal at New Ming Home. Won't be back.

This isn't my favorite chinese spot in akron but it's pretty good. The rice color is a little light for me but other than that I can't complain. The delivery doesn't take to long and the workers are always nice.

Often get carry out and never disappointed in the quanity or they quality of the food.Usually get the luncheon specials and the choices are wide and variable so you can eliminate veggies you don't like.Their wonton or hot and sour soups are very good. The egg or spring rolls are very tasty, as well.Have tried other Chinese restaurants in the area but always come back to New Ming for their consistent quality.

I used to work near Ellet and watched as they put in the restaurant about 30 years ago. I have been a customer ever since. I watched the owners' young children grow up. They retired and their son tool over the restaurant. Now, I occasionally see his children.Every Chinese restaurant has a different hot and sour soup: theirs is fine. I pay a little more for some extra chicken. Their fried dumplings are tasty and are competitive with most places. My favorite meal is #4 chicken with broccoli. Lunch, with fried rice, is big enough. The dinner version is much bigger. General Tso chicken is also tasty, but I love #4.I no longer work nearby, but when I am in the area I take home a meal.Restaurant don't last very long. "The average lifespan of a restaurant is five years and by some estimates, up to 90 percent of new ones fail within the first year" (US Today). It's nice to see that this one has survived and thrived.
