Boxing bags for the boxing class

I found out about the Neighborhood Boxing Club though Facebook. The location is ideal since it is close to my home. I decided to commit to the 16 week Fitness Challenge. It was really affordable. It's been three weeks now and I am so glad I am doing it. Ron Kelly is the owner and is real personable. The instructors have a lot of energy but push you hard. They have a good variety of class times. I feel like the workout is intense but fun at the same the same time. I am so glad I found this place!

My sister has raved about this gym so she brought me along to try it out, which was super convenient due to their 3 visit free trial period. I absolutely loved the class and the staff working. The music was hype too, which always helps with a hard workout.

This is a great boxing gym to attend!!! It's more than just boxing but you also do different workouts in between as well!! Every trainer there is awesome and the owner is very nice and helpful as well! I had an issue with canceling my membership when my challenge was over but the owner Ron contacted me and he was able to get my membership canceled and he got it all straightened out for me! I highly recommend NBC!!

This review is in no way a reflection of the classes themselves and the trainers are (especially Katie) great at what they do. However my experience with onboarding and continued account management was where everything fell apart. When I came to the sales pitch meeting for their 16 week challenge the guy (who I never saw at any classes afterwards) heading the meeting spoke very quickly and rushed me through the paperwork despite me asking why the contract had terms and pricing different than what he had just said moments before. He told me "don't worry about it, this is just a formality". I trusted them and they luckily kept their word. Then I met the owner, Ron. He was great for about 5 minutes and after I paid for a $200 intro package (gloves, tee shirt, and a 1-on-1 boxing class which I never received) the nice guy act was done. I was instructed to download numerous apps, given a link for three different diets I could pick and choose from for the challenge and told to "watch some videos on YouTube to learn how to throw punches"...me having never done boxing and taking classes I was under the assumption that I would be taught how to do just that considering the membership I was paying for. My first class involved me looking around confused as the trainer just called out random numbers and no stepping in to show me what to do when he saw I was confused about what to do. Subsequent interactions with the owner continued a VERY unpleasant route. Every single time I had a question (which wasn't often) he acted annoyed that he had to speak with me. The first time I chalked it up to just having a bad day. Everyone deserves a second chance. Once again, extreme annoyance. One last chance, Ron. Nope. He treated me as an absolute inconvenience during each interaction. Examples of this: my first class I was unaware I had to check in on a device other than just checking in on the app. Very rudely, "can I HELP you?" As I headed to a bag. Explaining I was there for a class he gave an incredulous expression and flailed at an iPad I had neither seen nor been informed of its existence or purpose. Very embarassing for a first class in front of people. Another check in experience later I explained I couldn't find my name to check in. "Ugh we'll maybe you should hit refresh? It's a computer you know". Another experience involved me trying to use the smart scale. "Did you download the app? You can't use it if you don't have the app" after showing him the app on my phone. Very condescendingly "Do you even know how to use Bluetooth?" After explaining to him that there was no device to connect (despite toggling Bluetooth on and off) he told me that I was doing something wrong and needed to sort it out. Speaking up that he needed to help me since checking body stats was part of the challenge I signed up for it was discovered that another member was connected which prevented my device from locating his. Eye rolls, audible sighs from him during the entire interaction. A class rather far into the challenge involved a fellow member taking pity on me and showing me how to throw a hook, advising me that throwing it wrong could result in injury. I would have learned this had I been given the boxing class I paid for. Having finally had enough of being treated like an inconvenience rather than a paying member I decided to end things with this gym. It involved a very awkward interaction where he was once again rude and spoke to me like I was a child and asking why I didn't want to come to classes anymore. Being nice and hating confrontation I opted not to go into detail. I had given him the benefit of a doubt multiple times and much grace. I would not give him the courtesy he himself had refused me. The cherry on top of it all was he insinuated he could hold me to paying for a full year if he felt so inclined due to the bait and switch contract I had been rushed through. To this day I still get automated texts asking why I haven't been back to the club. This is why.
