Mill Dam Corner Grille

My wife and I are traveling from Connecticut to Illinois. This was a really nice stop for us. Great Hometown food had a reasonable price. Love the friendly atmosphere. Would definitely stop here again.

My partner and I hadn't been together too long before he recommended this place. I might have to re-review again after a 2nd visit because, to be fair, this is only based on a restaurant expertise and not the bar aspect. First off, the service definitely had that Cheers vibe to it. Everyone definitely seemed (or at least extremely well acted) like they knew everyone! It had that warm "I've been here before" relaxing feel to it. I thoroughly enjoyed conversing and laughing with the staff of the establishment. We ordered wings and fries. I had ordered one alcoholic drink, but tbh I can't remember what it was, BUT I do remember that they had hooked it up on the alcohol! The wings weren't anything to call home about, but they were still good. The sauce for the garlic parmasen was extremely flavorful but a little too thin for my preference. The Asian chili sauce was identical to the Franks sweet chili sauce you buy at the grocery store in case you've ever had it before. The wings were pretty fair on the size, too. The highlight and most underrated item, however, were THOSE FRIES! The service and those fries! That's why they're getting 4 stars outta me alone. I spent the next week trying to recreate those fries to figure out why they were so yummy, super crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. I had to soak freshly sliced potatoes in salt water for a day (changed water out 2x) to get the starch out to get the fluffy inside and to get the crisp factor I had to lightly batter them in flour. What I ultimately learned is that, they put a lot of work and love into those freaking fries! I want to come back to give this place another try because we hadn't ordered a lot and it appeared there were some fun games towards the back that I didn't get a chance to try out.

Came after lunch time on a weekday, so a pretty atypical experience in terms of how busy the place was, I'm sure, but the bartender was great and the food was pretty good - especially for the price. Not dirt cheap, but definitely not expensive. Felt like a place that really tried to live up to their motto, "Here, everybody's a regular." And the bartender told me she'd "see me tomorrow." when I left. Gave me a laugh and I left telling her that she would indeed.

I have always wanted to try this place because it is always crowded. We went on a Friday afternoon. The service was quick. The waitress was by herself and she was rocking it! She was covering the inside and the outside. The food was typical bar food. I had the Friday fish and chips special. My husband had the meatball sub. Everything was hot and tasty. I loved the apparel that they were selling.

Stopped by after work in the area. I ordered the Blue Jacket burger with fries. Totally enjoyed both. The burger was Cajun spiced with blue cheese plus the usual toppings. Cooked perfectly, and very tasty! The fries were a delicious side! This place has a dive bar feel, but takes service and food seriously!! I will definitely be back..

We like to look for inexpensive local joint when traveling. The Mill Dam Corner Grille did NOT disappoint!! The food and service was great... the boys wish it was closer to home. They loved the meat lovers' pizza and the cheesy garlic bread. The pizza sub and side salad were great too. Thanks so much, Billie Jo!

Definitely a local people's hang out. Went on a Saturday early afternoon and it was crowded and loud. Got some stares but no static. Bartender was nice but made me wait a couple times when processing my order so she could take care of sone regulars. Food was much better than I thought it would be and I had no ill effects from it. Must be fresh with good food handling practices. Will go back for takeout most likely.

What a friendly place! We stopped in for lunch. Our friendly and helpful server, Billie Jo, recommended the special..fish and chips and Cole slaw. Delicious! Quick service. The food was fresh and hot, slaw was cold! Very filling, generous serving. We both enjoyed our lunch. The new floor looks great, but in the long run, will be hard on the server's backs, feet, and legs. Wood gives, concrete doesn't. But our server was a delight. We definitely will be returning! The beer is cold!

Pizza does not come with enough sauce... ask for extra on the pizza, because they sometimes just give the extra sauce to you in a cup, inexplicably. Local biker favorite. Pool table is good, outdoor area with free games. Just don't expect any micro brews, dumbastic beer only.
