I met Mike G here for lunch during the week and at 1:00 is was not very busy. Since we enjoyed our Yelp event previously, we wanted to take advantage of the Restaurant Week menu so we returned. We sat at a table this time, and had a different server. He was very nice and efficient. I started with a cocktail, and chose my 3 courses: Caesar Salad, Blackened Chicken Linguine, and "Nolo" Style Beignets. The salad was made very well, and the linguine was very tasty although a bit spicier than the first time I had it. I took most of it to go. The beignets were a surprise since I expected maybe 2 large ones (I've only had from Way Down Yonder); I was served a platter of 8 smaller ones sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with 2 jams for dipping. Delicious. I took most of those home too.I would absolutely return for a meal and maybe get something different to eat. The cocktails are always a treat.

It's all about when you come here... The sweet spot for me and Anna is Tuesday for lunch, around noon.We have had excellent service (LaShon, the 1st time, and ReaSean, most recently) on Tuesday for lunch. Their service is pleasant and attentive without being too much. They both make some great drinks, too!The food here is very good. You've got to try these menu items:Blackened Chicken Alfredo - Talk about a generous portion! You'll get a full and satisfying meal. The sauce is pretty phenomenal. Caesar Salad - Cold, crispy romaine. (You can add chicken or shrimp to make it a meal. Maybe Texas Toast, as well)?Beignets - These are housemade, crispy, and deliciously sweet.5 solid stars from my POV.Our experiences have been great. We will be back again!5 solid stars.

For lunch I had the shrimp and mussel Diavalo. I made the right choice. The portion was huge. It had tons of mussels and shrimp that I couldn't even finish it. The sauce was so delicious and creamy. I expected a cheap dish, but this was better than some of the pasta I've had at Cameron Mitchell's Del mar and the Pearl. So unexpected in the best way possible. Kudos to the chef and new owners. You definitely have new fans. Chill throwback vibes with really good food. Try it!

Visited on Sunday, 08/25, during an R&B day party while in town for a convention with friends. Michael's Goody Boy Diner has a cool concept with both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a nice touch. However, the interior left a bit to be desired--there was an odd smell near the bar closest to the kitchen and exit, which was off-putting.Despite this, my friends and I still had a good time. The service from the bartenders was okay, nothing particularly special. We didn't order any food, just drinks. As for the R&B party, it was lively, but we wished the music playing outside could be heard inside, or at least that the music selection indoors matched the fun vibe happening outside

If you have nowhere to be for a few hours, then Goody Boy is your place. We walked in and were told to seat ourselves. Within a few minutes, the server came over and was upset that we weren't ready to place our order. She said she would give us 10 minutes to "get it together" before she came back. We watched her serve other people at the bar, and we couldn't flag her down for another 30 minutes. She finally came over and asked for just our drinks. We told her and then she came back and told us to write everything we wanted on her notepad and was upset when we didn't write the drinks down too, even though she already asked what we wanted for those. She seemed surprised that we ordered the Spicy Margaritas and Spicy Situation, so she brought the bottle of tequila out for us to smell (?). She told us to move outside for a better atmosphere, which I honestly preferred since it was so dark in the restaurant and flies constantly landing on me. The server forgot my friend's ginger ale 7 times of her asking (not kidding). We finally got our food, and thank god the burger was actually fire. I got the goody boy double burger and fries. The fries were just okay and a little dry, but the server gave us ranch to smother our fries in. The server apologized for the chaos because they're not used to so much business on a Monday, although we seemed to be one of the only tables there at one point. She gave us coupons to come back in the future. I don't know that I would come back to eat here, but they do have an outside bar area that I'm interested in checking out. The server mentioned a seemingly pretty great happy hour during the weekdays and a lot of drink specials on the weekend.

Went here for Sunday brunch, and overall I was pleased. I didn't ever go to this place under previous ownership, so I can't judge it from what it was like previously. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($13), with coffee ($2) to drink. The biscuits were well put-together, not too soft, but not over-baked, which is the perfect consistency to pair with gravy. The gravy wasn't the heartiest I've ever had, but it was perfectly fine. The Home Fries were fresh fried and were cut from a potato (not pre bagged) and cooked well, with ordinarily good scrambled eggs to top it off. The coffee was fresh and had a good taste as well.Pros:Decent prices, especially for the locationAbove average diner foodFriendly, attentive serviceCons:Questionable ambiance, this place can't decide whether it wants to be a classic 50s style diner, 80s Miami Vice vibe, or modern restaurant. I hope they nail down the decor in the future.Menu options are a bit limited for now (hopefully it grows once they get going).I would definitely consider coming back, but I have more brunch spots to check out in the area (as they are plentiful).

My friend invited me to come here and I'm so glad I did! Walking in, the vibe and atmosphere of the diner is so cool. The art and murals on the walls is so well done. LaShawn was our waitress and she was very nice and welcoming. She was quick with everything we asked her for. When she brought the food out, it looked so good!! And it also taste very good. I highly recommend trying this place, you won't regret it!

Okay, I get that Goody Boy closed and then reopened. So this is an honest recent review of the new opening. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:30pm on New Year's Eve. The place looked closed from the outside. There were a total of six (6) people in the place. It is currently midnight, I ordered a rum and coke and 2 burgers a half hour ago and have not received any of it.

This restaurant was reopened after some shady events are reported to have taken place there. IMO it's shadier than ever with LOUD music, a clientele that has NO idea how to conduct themselves in public, and disgusting food. Our waitress had barely enough material in her whole outfit to cover [what should be] her private parts. IDK what their business model is or who they are attempting to attract, but I found it gross, and potentially pandering to a dangerous crowd.
