My family came for the holidays and my bro-in-law decided to make a gigantor prime rib last minute. Mary Anne's was so helpful and hit us the best cut of meat! Thanks for the help!

We have been traveling north to Lexington, Ohio from Columbus to this local butcher for about a year. Its free standing white buidling set up on a sloped parking lot. Super cute, clean, has a nice case that offers a large variety of cuts. We like that the meat is locally sourced. We like how friendly the staff is. Usually the meat we get is excellent. However, the last trip wasn't perfect. we came up on June 2nd, purchased two large racks of beef ribs, 9 pounds of pork butt, 6 bacon burgers. and some beyond spicy jerky. Total cost 191.14. Kind of felt that was a bit high tbo but this was my husbands order so i just stood there observing. Now I expect some fat on ribs. When the man that handled our order he said "i took off some (meat) off the top before you came. Here they are". I thought.. "thats weird. Why would u trim off meat." But again said nothing. We will get to that in a bit....We get home. Cooked the six bacon burgers which were crazy good. They grind bacon into the beef and form a patty for you. They were very nice. Would drive up get again. My son next cracks open the jerky. Spicy is an understatement. Its super duper crazy spicy. Now, I like spicy, so does half my family. Fair warning this may of been the spiciest Ive ever had. It was right at the edge of ohhhh this might be too spicy, but didn't quite cross that line. Make sure you like spicy. It was good. I think they make it themselves. Thats a plus in our eyes. But half the family wouldn't eat it -it was that spicy. Lol. (Whimps) The next night we have our BBQ. The pork was good. Nice marbling. Smoked up nicely but for this cut alone it wasn't really worth the miles and time up there as the price of it was a bit high. Now to the ribs.... This was the item that we were driving an hour to get. All the rest were add ons. These were to be the main feature of our BBQ. Total disappointment. Not sure what was trimmed off before we got there, but it must of been most of the meat... As what we went home with was almost mostly fat and bone The ribs also were what cost the most and wow... I am shocked that they sold us those and even more shocked my husband (who is a great BBQ guy) weirdly accepted them. My point with this review is, as a customer--check your slabs of ribs. If they are fatty... and your gut say too fatty-- speak up! as this shop usually sends you home with perfect meat. Im sure there are more in the back and if Im sure they are great at suggesting a plan B. This time they missed the mark with us, but again, I have faith that if we ever go back it should be a better experience, as the other two experiences were amazing. I want to emphasize-- This isnt a place that should be skipped cuz of the rib issue. There is always a line in the shop.its a good place. However, I would recommend as a customer--check the cuts that are presented without worrying about offending the clerk if you feel the meat needs to be swapped out - if you feel its fatty or not a great cut for price, advocate for your own purchase. I feel the rib disappointment was as much our fault for not advocating as theirs for presenting that flawed slab. Sometimes you just make a mistake. We both did that day. I know we will be back for the burgers. Those were crazy good. I dont even like hamburger and I really liked the flavor of them.

A Carnivores delight ! Maryanne's Meats in Lexington ohio clearly defines the phrase ...... "I'm in hog heaven ! " The facility is super clean , well lit and showcases a variety of meats in large chilled display cases . Each of the clerks are cordial , and knowledgeable about the various cuts of meat and how to best prepare and serve them . The variety of meats offered is phenomenal , and equal to what one might find in large metropolitan Communities . Personal favorites are the ready to bake HAM LOAF The ( WEIDLES formula ) smoked garlic sausage( available in link , bulk or patty form and the pre-made ham salad . A section of Top counter space displays a selection of spices and bottled Condiments , while a side counter offers pre wrapped home baked MOON PIES ! Owner Maryanne is on the premises daily , and there is an extremely good chance that she will be the person who takes your order , A nice bonus is that Specialty meats that may not be stocked can be special ordered and delivered for pick up within a few days . While the prices may be a bit higher here than with other purveyors , the quality and cut of each of the variety of meats makes the slight monetary difference worth it . For customers choosing to purchase by credit card , be Forewarned that there will be a 2% up charge added to the purchase total , which incidentally , other meat shops do not do . Because of the variety , selection , quality and cut of meats available , my review : a healthy 5 out of 5 Stars , and a suggestion : dump the 2% upcharge on credit card purchases , others businesses don't Levy it and in fact it may discourage customers from returning ! ( we normally spend about 50 bucks each time we go ! )

Carnivore heaven. I grew up in Lexington, and have low expectations of local dining options. People living here adore the Olive Garden and pretty much anything that is labeled "Amish" and served in massive quantities at a buffet. This place is a category-breaker. Mary Anne's would be a fine butcher in Chicago, and probably give Paulina Meat Market a run for their money--at least as far as their beef and pork cuts. We picked up pork chops for the day-after-Thanksgiving dinner, and some bacon for breakfast the day after that. The chops were fresh, tender and juicy. The bacon is smokey, thick and almost too delicious for humble eggs. Acc. to my family, the meat is all locally raised. I wish we brought a cooler, because the steaks (at least an inch thick) and roasts were gorgeous, and the price was quite competitive compared to the big city. The store also has condiments and dessert-type goodies, most of them made in the area. The home-made "moon pies" looked positively sinful. I may come back and defile myself with one of those and a Pepsi from the vintage pop machine located next to the store. Good thing the Presbyterian church is just a half-block away.

Off the beaten path but well worth searching out! We custom ordered a pork loin with chine bone removed and ribs frenched for our New Years Day dinner. It was done perfectly! The meat was moist and tender! I wished I was in town more often to take advantage of this carnivore palace!

THEY ARE OPEN AGAIN! The best place for fresh meats. Extremely clean. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent value for the price. We have purchased beef patties, sausage, links, steaks, ham salad, bacon, chicken breasts, freezer bundles and more and always been happy with our purchases. Their bulk pork sausage is my favorite.
