MARBURN ACADEMY IS WONDERFUL

Our son has dyslexia and asked us last year if he can go to Marburn. He had been going to Dublin City Schools, which by all measures is a good school district. Unfortunately, they are not equipped to properly teach children with dyslexia. This resulted in our son being frustrated and thinking he was stupid. Since going to Marburn, his attitude towards school has completely turned around. He no longer dreads going and is excited to learn. We are fortunate that he is able to go there.A previous commenter, Vanessa B., mentioned that "admissions qualifications are as stringent as being accepted into an Ivy League University." I'm not sure what exactly their requirements are, but there's only room for around 300 students. Each individual class has 17 students and two teachers. Just taking that into account, there's going to be a bit of selectivity assuming that there is room available. Before they admit anyone, the child needs to spend a day at the school and sit in the class. If your child is not immediately admitted, please don't give up. I've heard it may take a couple of years to get in. We got lucky because there was an opening when we applied.Columbus is lucky to have Marburn. There are only three schools in Ohio that specialize in teaching kids with learning disabilities. http://dyslexiahelp.umich.edu/answers/independent-schools

As a parent of a child with special needs, an institution such as this is truly a blessing. That is until you find out that the admission qualifications are as stringent as being accepted into an Ivy League University. What a disappointment. Every parent wants the best for their children, no matter the circumstances. I wish that this school would practice more inclusiveness interested of exclusiveness. P.S. I am sure that it is an amazing institution.

This school saved our childs academic life, as well as restored balance and peace of mind to our entire family amd home life. We have a wonderful son who learns differently. He struggled in public schools. We met at times monthly with school staff regarding IEP Diectives and goals. The paper looked good but the learning environment could not achieve the goals. We were met in public school with multiple obstacles including unbelievably that public school teachers were not required any special training for learning disabilities. The pain we all went through included student and parent shaming amd other atrocities. Thankfully another parent recommended MARBURN ACADEMY. Right away they took our son to much better learning and social environment. We saw our son blossem and gain self confidence. The teachers are incredible. Our son is now succeeding in a graduate program in molecular genetics and biochemistry. Thank You Marburn. Please go visit this amazing school and consider sending your child.

The only good thing about Marburn was that the kids all treated each other well. They all fit in. The teachers were horrible. The HS history teacher is the worst, she was teaching garbage and treating the kids horribly. The HS English teacher didn't care a bit about our child and their grades. The woke garbage is in full swing here.

Marburn Is a great school if your child is behind academically and is hyperactive. We were admitted NOT knowing our child had closed the gap and was at grade level in all subject's. Their testing and parent conferences revealed this information. Once there realizing this is not what he needed and the classrooms were loud, using microphones in class for the ADHD child to pay attention. Our child, not ADHD, needed accommodations for this noise. The only choices offered were to wear noise canceling headphones or work in the hall. How is this inclusive when catering to the ADHD? We had no choice but to withdraw him. He was refusing to go to school and went down a dark tunnel to being treated for depression and was suicidal. With all this information Marburn denied refunding the remaining of my tuition back about $12,000. Clearly not in it for the child but our money. Huge disappointment!

As a newly retired private school teacher, with more than 32 years of experience, I feel confident in saying I know the difference. For so many years, my heart and mind struggled with knowing how to guide kids who learned differently....especially when I could so obviously detect the intelligence and potential. Watching these kids suffer, be labeled, be judged was always the haunting message with which I wrestled. I have recently been given the gift of tracking some of those exact kids whose families have found Marburn. The additional gift of an opportunity to fill in as a surrogate grandparent, on their annual "Grandfriends" Day enabled a firsthand visit into the classes and environment. It took no time to know that they truly recognize and accomodate kids as individuals...no matter their style or how they learn. How I wish that so many kids I have known and watched their struggles in the traditional school mold could experience Marburn.

Marburn is the answer to many prayers. It has helped grow my and my family's perspective of learning differences. This is how ALL schools should ideally be run. The teachers are amazing. The staff is amazing. The tuition is high, but they do have state and financial aid to help offset cost. It was not an easy decision financially but they were very willing to work with us. What price is worth educational success, especially with a child that learns differently? In my child's second year in Lower Division, his understanding of himself and acceptance of his strengths/weaknesses is better than many adults. He is willing to take risks. He loves his school! This coming from a sweet boy that hated kindergarten!! He loves learning now, a gift that will serve him well throughout his life! Our family can't say enough, thank you!!!
