We were visiting some friends for the weekend and decided we needed to grill. This small, local butcher is honestly as good of a spot as we've ever seen and one that the area is lucky to have!Located in the Main Street through downtown, it's a small storefront with a lot of character. The footprint isn't huge, but they've got a lot to look at and choose from. The meat selections range from some delicious brats and hot links, to chicken, pork and lamb, and topped with some next level beef!We're legit always looking for good beef and this is some of the best we've seen anywhere. They had 45 day aged Tomahawks, aged Wagyu loins, and more cuts than you can shake a stick at!We ended up with some NY strips and a 45 day aged ribeye - they were magical! As good as we've had anywhere and the owner was super cool to boot! We grabbed some wine for dinner - from a Yakima/Zillah winery nonetheless! I even grabbed a shirt.This place is a gem and one that the area is lucky to have!

I'm so grateful to have found this place! I grew really tired of the quality and prices of meat at your conventional grocery stores, and had been eyeing Macelleria since we had moved to Ohio in 2022. Finally I took the plunge, and have zero regrets. We started with trying their filets, and were so impressed with the quality and taste we decided to venture out to try other cuts and proteins. Everything is solid and high quality you can taste. We've tried a variety, and from chicken, to pork, to beef you really can't go wrong. Philip is also so kind and helpful, especially when I reach out ahead of time to place an order or request a harder to find cut. Recently we've been trying their butcher box, in which Philip will curate a huge box of different proteins and cuts. As someone who cooks at home often, this has been so fun and helpful to boost my creativity in the kitchen based on what he gives us and helps remove the dread of meal planning for the week. It also lasts us anywhere from 2-4 weeks, so worth it! Highly recommend everyone to get out of the comfort zone and check this place out!

We tried the hamburger with short rib patty grind. This is 5* stuff. The fat content helps with the grill cook and I pulled them off at MR and they settled in to the M we wanted.

I've only been here twice and actually bought something once. But I am HOOKED. The first time I came i was just browsing and asking questions. The second time I brought my husband and he wanted to buy everything in the shop. It's a relief to be able to go to a butcher and be able to ask for a specific cut of meat without getting an eye roll or a curt " Did you check the shelf?" They are VERY accommodating and willing to work with you. Their steaks look lovely and the porchetta is going to be a buy later on. But we ended up with sausages, beef bacon, and a beef ragu. We had the beef ragu with homemade gnocchi tonight, and it was better than any restaurant gnocchi I've ever had. They do NOT skimp on the beef in the ragu. They are going to become a weekly tradition.

Great addition to Bexley and the East side. Have been in twice since they opened. First time for flat iron steaks which were super tender, flavorful and recommended by the owner. Had to come back for the house made sausage (and a few filets) because they were sold out the first visit. Great quality, fair prices and knowledgeable staff. Happy to support small and local!

My husband and I just had the most delicious ribeye steak from Bexley's brand new meat shop, Macelleria East Side Butchery. Tender! Flavorful! Fresh! I suspect we'll become more carnivorous now that Macelleria has opened. They take all Covid precautions: Curbside pickup available, 6-foot designations on the floor, and masks required.

Exceptional. In every way. The selection is carefully curated. You can get homemade sausages of the highest quality (love the chorizo). They have dry aged steak, which is so flavorful. If you are grilling they have the best freshly ground burgers and quality hotdogs. The bacon is amazing.Beyond the butcher, they also have bread, burrata, pickles, homemade pasta, and eggs! Onions and lemons! Honey! If your guest doesn't eat meat they have flash frozen seafood for surf and turf. I can even get frozen bones to make stock. Finally, they make their own bolognese, chili, lamb ragu and other delicacies. I go here first before anywhere else.

If you are looking for an incredibly knowledgeable butcher with the highest quality product and sourcing, visit Macelleria. Our kids won't eat burgers at restaurants anymore because their short rib brisket burgers are so phenomenal. When we want the best, we visit Macelleria - it has spoiled us by providing exceptional cuts - while also introducing us to less known wonders as well. So lucky to have this gem in Columbus.
