As someone who HAS lived in Hawaii and has a bit of a grasp on their food, I'll share my perspective. First, let's talk Mac salad. If you eat any fast casual food in Hawaii it almost always comes with Mac salad. It's a Hawaiian staple. It's important to note that Hawaiian food that's accessible to us nowadays has been influenced by many cultures, predominantly Japanese and "American", with staples that were introduced due to the naval base in Oahu. While it's a controversial topic (of which I won't go into in this review), these influences make contemporary Hawaiian what it is today. Mac salad is usually quite heavy. Loooots of mayo. Since Lulubowls emphasizes a healthy take on Hawaiian food, they've nixed a lot good amount of the Mayo used in Hawaiian Mac. They've also included flavorful veg like sweet potato which is flavorful, rich, and nutritious, which personally I think is a great choice! As someone who is gluten-intolerant, I think it's awesome that their standard for Mac salad comes gluten -free! I've had a lot of gluten-free pasta in my life, and I gotta say, they found a good one. Not too hard, not too soft, the Goldilocks of GF pasta. Now -- moving on to the bowl. I ordered the Hawaiian Hot Chicken. It came with a healthy portion of chicken (no exaggeration, like a proper serving of chicken), arugula, caramelized onions, green onions on top, and my choice of base. I chose the steamed bamboo rice. There are options for additional toppings, which are a little steep in price, but I can't say that with confidence because I'm unaware of their produce sourcing, and if this cost helps to pay employees livable wages. I decided to get the cucumber slaw and skip the rest because I had a lot of these toppings already at home. I LOVE this bamboo rice. It's flavorful, it's akin to broken rice which you can find in a lot of Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian meals as well (hint hint: cultural influence once again). Arugula was fresh and transported well (quite the rarity I'm afraid), there was actually a good amount of caramelized onions, placed below the chicken (hot with hot to avoid wilting of other flavors). The chicken was white meat, most likely breast meat, which has an infamous tendency to be a bit on the drier side. It was definitely still edible, and made even better with the hot sauce they kept on the side so you could choose your own adventure. I also selected the house made vegan ranch and let me tell you -- best vegan ranch I've had. No joke. Doesn't taste like soybean oil. Doesn't taste oily at all. I'd buy a bottle of this stuff if they sold it.The flavors are there, the texture is varied (which is good for your mind and body), and using chopsticks helps you eat slower and appreciate the food more. I had about half the bowl and filled up, content. I have one recommendation: don't be afraid of salt. Hawaiians looove salt and looove flavor. I think the crux of a lot of healthy restaurants is the fear of salt (having worked in multiple restaurants in the past). But utilizing it (in moderation of course) can really accentuate the flavors presented in the dish. I'd recommend this especially with the Mac salad. The chicken's batter could use maybe a pinch more per serving, and that would really bring out the citrusy spice that comes from the meal, maybe also some tropical notes from the pineapple. All in all I'm really impressed they were able to make Hawaiian food healthy and delicious here in Ohio. It made me rather nostalgic, and I'll definitely order here again. Now to find some shave ice, authentic style...

This food was not good at all. I ordered the lulu loco moco and it was not seasoned well. At first I thought sautéed veggies were burnt but actually it had big burnt pieces in it. And the kale was not seasoned well and the impossible burger was ok but still lacking flavor/seasoning. I also ordered the sweet potato potstickers and they were not good. Lastly the pasta the came with my meal was bland and the noodles were over cooked. I'm sorry but I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone

Lulubowls-Hawaiian inspired bowls.... More like an insult to Hawaiians. While i have yet to go to Hawaii, I would be willing to bet anything that they do not sell 7 hard pieces of chicken in a bowl with a few veggies and call it a day. I ordered off of UberEATS and just don't... You think you're eating healthy and that's only because after a few bites you just don't want to eat it anymore... You may want to add on something like mushrooms to your bowl, so you do for $1.50. Just to receive it and realize that they gave you a half a teaspoon of mushrooms... AND THEY ARE NOT AMAZING. like if they were amazing, I could at least understand... But NO. I'm in my feelings you guys..Oh and they try to tempt you with free macaroni salad. Yea... It's the worst. I'm going to take a picture of it now. No flavor, it has this weird texture that shouldn't be involved.. i just drove 5 hours to get home. I was hungry, i wanted a nice mean... Now I'm going to bed sad Ok i should be nice and say that some parts of the bowl had good flavor. But it was not enough to make the meal good. I really hope the Chef there steps it up

I can't speak to the authenticity but I can speak to the price and, sorry, but there's just no world where this is worth $18. Criminal pricing given the portion sizes. Aside from that the flavor wasn't bad on the chicken or rice. The egg was ice cold though and i got exactly two pieces of broccoli. Maybe ditch the incredibly excessive gift bags and pass that cost savings on to the customers?

The only thing good about this experience was the peanut butter sauce. The chicken was so dry it basically turned into sand in my mouth. For chicken to get that dry it has to be re-heated several times. I ate maybe half the bowl and stopped. Ended up with food poisoning and was throwing up till the next morning. I almost had to go to the hospital. I'm at least the 4th or 5th person that mentioned food poisoning so maybe you guys should get your shit together. Lazy fucking cooks.

My bowl was missing sauce and two other ingredients. The chia pudding lacked flavor but the pot stickers were delicious

This is actually the worst food I have ever gotten from a restaurant like it's almost impressive. I got the sweet potato salad filled with big chunks of undercooked potato. A brown rice bowl with chicken. Rice wasn't cooked through, and the chicken was like sand in my mouth dry. I'm just surprised this place is open. No one deserves this, my body didn't even recognize it as food, just some sawdust with varying degrees of hydration. I used uber eats and picked it up. I was at the ghost kitchen ahead of schedule so imagine my surprise when my food came out a few degrees below room temp. The single good review for this place is clearly from a Russian bot. I had to get a refund from Uber for this, and feel like they still owe me for the emotional trauma. If you've ever wondered what cooking a lean cuisine for 40 minutes in a broken microwave then stirring some sand in before leaving it on the counter for 2 days tastes like, well have I got a recommendation for you...
