Oh. Em. Gee. I had to stop what I was doing to make sure I was in Ohio. As a visitor from the Southwest and West Coast, I thought I KNEW Mexican food. Until today.......I dont know if the food service industry has just been SO bad in recent years, that my standards have plunged to sea bottom lows...but...Holy. Bible. In. A. Brothel.....Lola's is MOUTHWATERING, TASTEBUD EXPLOSION, FILL THE BOTTOM OF YOUR TUMMY.....DELICIOUS. Wow. The restaurant itself is quaint and charming. Small tables fill a warm, welcoming atmosphere, while conversations melt together to create a cacophony of cheerful chatter. Service was attentive and expeditiously executed. And the food was knock my socks off, Ryan Reynolds in my bathtub, I can't stop eating even though my stomach has now expanded to critical levels, FANFUCKINGTASTIC. I would fly to Ohio JUST to experience this place again. To the owners of Lola's: PLEASE COME TO OREGON. I may have to move to Ohio if you don't!

If you look at the photos you'd expect the food to be hot (it wasn't), flavorful (it wasn't) and satisfying (it wasn't). I don't understand how you can make Tex-mex food and have no flavor. Even the beans and the rice (and the guacamole) were tasteless. The chips were on the verge of being stale. They might want to invest in some taco seasoning. Service was ok. Most likely won't return.

Finally.Something different. The small town of Mount Vernon is quaint, cute and dotted with interesting little shops, an adorable dog fountain, coffee shops, a bookstore and 270 Mexican style restaurants. Okay. Maybe not 270, but there are two downtown, 1 on the west side of town, a Mexican food truck, 2 Taco Bell's, and a Chipotle. Whew. I love Mexican style food, and you'd think that with all of those options (except Taco Bell, never an option unless you've lost your job or your boyfriend dumped you) that I wouldn't care about another option. But I did. Becaise options are good.I had heard that a new taqueria opened (3 minutes outside of downtown). You count on these little reviews, so I needed to check it out. I pulled in with my ride or die bestie and we were instantly happy. The spray painting on the building was glorious. Really great art. 1 star for that alone. The inside is small but super cute. Nice bar. Friendly servers and it was pretty busy. We were served immediately, drink order taken, chips and salsa on the table. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn Dip which came with tortilla chips of course. The chips were good, but could've been thinner and warm but who cares...because the corn dip was so dang good. We both agreed we could eat it with a spoon. Period. Load me up. A delicious queso topped with a generous amount of roasted corn and some herbs. I want some right now. I also ordered two street tacos - a steak and an Al pastor. They were both really good. The meat was tender, good seasoning, lots of cilantro (my fav) and diced fresh onion. The plate came with a tomatillo sauce, a side of sliced radish and lime wedges. Perfect. Accept. The corn tortillas were super greasy from the meat. So much so that I ate the first one with only one of the tortillas, pushing the second one away. The second one I ate the meat with a fork and left both tortillas on the plate. With that said, I am going back. I liked it enough that I am giving it another chance and I'm going to mention that I don't want a lot of grease/meat juice on my taco. We also had the cheesecake. It was covered with fresh whip cream and lots of fruit. It was thin and delicious. It was different than any other cheesecake be ever had. Not overly sweet- just gooood. I think Lola is doing a fantastic job. Everyone around us was enjoying the food and the experience. As long as they keep tweaking and striving to do a good job, I think they will thrive. Which is good. Because options are good.

Who would have thought this Mexican gem is in Mt. Vernon OH. What a special place man, it's family owned and guess what, the owners are there bringing your food and bartending. The margaritas are delicious, the service is amazing and the food outstanding. I would drive 40 minutes just to eat here. I hope this business keep growing, and if that is going to be the case please keep quality and the prices, because to be honest with you, for what you are getting, the prices are not bad at all. FaceTime we had the quesadillas and a few Street tacos, everything tasted spectacular. The ambiance is friendly and relaxing. Highly recommended.

I never made it to enjoy the service, ambience & food at Lola's because I got lost on the way. I do hope to make it there someday when I'm again near by. Until then Lola's tacos & I will just have to be unrequited lovers.

Great food! Birria tacos were greasy but yummy! (Definitely ask for lime on the side it makes it 10x better) it was a rainy day today, but the patio is huge and awesome! The chips and salsa were good. Elote was FIRE!! I would get that again 100%. My only thing is they only have bottled drinks. As someone who relies on water to make food for my baby, I didn't like that we got charged per water bottle instead of having water cups available. Service was okay and food came out fairly quickly!

Stumbled upon this spot driving through and had a wonderful lunch. I had Lola's bowl with chicken and my wife the grilled chicken burrito. We'll have to head back for margs and dinner soon.

I had really high hopes for this new option in Mount Vernon! The dining room was about 1/4 full when we arrived. It seemed as if multiple groups were wrapping up their meals. We were told to seat ourselves, and about 20 minutes elapsed before a waitress (who was very sweet), came to the table to take our order, but we had not been even given a menu at that point. We ordered the jalapeño appetizer, fish tacos, and grilled chicken bacon tacos, a strawberry margarita, and a house margarita. A few notes: - When food arrived, we didn't have utensils. - Chips were warm and salsa was really yummy,- Margaritas were yummy (but they did bring me the wrong one). - Tacos are supposed to be served with rice, beans, and guacamole, but only one of our taco orders came with guacamole.- White rice served with tacos was disappointing. It seemed as if the rice was day old? Maybe not cooked completely. The rice was dried out and could actually be picked up in one solid piece. - Grilled Chicken/Bacon taco was rock solid. The chicken was very dry and bacon was cold. - Jalapeño app never arrived, we had to ask for it. When it came out, it was basically cheese and cold bacon inside slightly roasted jalapeños. Maybe just not what I was expecting?-Bottles of water are additional charge, no tap water as an option. -Bill was $70... just felt steep for the experience/quality of food.- Atmosphere is great! I can tell they worked really hard on decor. Patio was not open yet, but looks like a fun time! I wanted to like this place a lot, but might have a hard time justifying going back for the cost. Might give it another try in the future after they have ironed out some kinks!

My husband and I went for a date night and had a great time. We can't speak to the drinks, which did look amazing. The decor/environment was very fun and clean. The inside dining area is on the cozier side and it didn't get super noisy. They also have an outdoor area with live music, but we ate inside this time. The service was excellent and friendly. And the food was wonderful! I got the birria tacos and my husband had the chicken bacon tacos with chipotle sauce. We both loved both and the chips and salsa were fresh and yummy. Highly recommend!

Been there twice and very happy with the food. The decor really grabs you and is good for conversation. I know one of the waitresses who unfortunately was not there but the waitress on the floor must've been a relative and she called her so we could chat briefly, but I really wanted my wife to meet her. This last time the portions were so plentiful we both got a second meal out of it. The reason for the 4 stars is it is a bit pricey.
